For sealed Magic: The Gathering products, compare a local game store with listings on TCGplayer and Amazon; for a specific card, shop for that single rather than relying on booster packs. Wizards of the Coast identifies those retailers for current releases, but no one is reliably cheapest everywhere. Check the seller, condition and packaging, shipping, return terms, and total delivered price before ordering.
Choose the product that matches what you want
- Booster boxes and bundles: Sealed products make sense when you want packs or a set-specific product. Wizards’ official product pages distinguish Play Boosters, Collector Boosters, and Bundles; check the exact product name before comparing listings. (The Hobbit product guide)
- Singles: If you need a named card, look for that card directly on a marketplace such as TCGplayer or ask a local game store about its stock. A single purchase targets the card you want; sealed packs do not promise a particular card.
Where to shop
| Route | Useful for | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Local game store or WPN store | New sealed releases, local events, and singles if stocked | Availability, price, preorder terms, event timing, and the store’s return policy |
| TCGplayer | Comparing sealed listings and shopping for individual cards | Individual seller, card condition, shipping, combined order cost, and return policy |
| Amazon | Sealed products linked from Wizards’ current release pages | Who sells the item, listing details, condition, delivery, total price, and returns |
Wizards names local game stores, TCGplayer, and Amazon as routes for its 2026 Hobbit and Star Trek products. Its announced policy gives local WPN stores first availability when Prerelease events begin. A product page naming a retailer does not mean every listing there is sold directly by that platform or that stock is available in your location. (Wizards sales update)

Find a local store
Use the Wizards Store and Event Locator to search for WPN stores and Magic events; its filters let you narrow events by date. Contact a store directly to confirm current stock, pricing, preorder rules, and returns.
Filter TCGplayer listings
TCGplayer says its WPN filter narrows results to participating WPN sellers. That is a seller-network signal, not a guarantee that a particular item is in stock, the lowest-priced, or covered by a particular return policy. Compare the individual offer and seller details. Compare the full cost, not just the listed price
Prices and stock change by set, seller, and location, so check live checkout totals rather than treating any shop as universally cheapest. Compare like with like: the same set, product type, language and condition. Include shipping and any other charges shown at checkout, and read delivery estimates and return terms before paying. For marketplace orders, assess the individual seller and offer rather than assuming the platform itself is the seller.
Check authenticity and sealed condition
Wizards of the Coast Support’s guidance, updated July 28, 2026, recommends reputable dealers and careful inspection of sealed products. For online sealed products in North America, it says the Authorized Internet Retailer logo indicates approval to sell sealed product online. Read auction fine print, and avoid listings that obscure whether packs are loose, opened, or otherwise not in their original sealed packaging. (Wizards’ product-authenticity guidance)

- Look for a factory-sealed box and a Wizards stamp.
- For loose packs, check for signs of resealing, including vertical heat striations.
- Do not buy a proxy or imitation represented as an authentic Magic card.
- If you suspect a product is fraudulent, Wizards’ advice is direct: “If you suspect the product is fraudulent, don’t buy it.”
Use MSRP only as a set-specific reference
Wizards’ 2026 US MSRPs illustrate why a price comparison must name the set and product. These are manufacturer suggested retail prices, not current retailer checkout prices:
| 2026 set | Product | Wizards’ US MSRP |
|---|---|---|
| The Hobbit | Play Booster | $6.99 |
| The Hobbit | Collector Booster | $37.99 |
| The Hobbit | Bundle | $69.99 |
| The Hobbit | Gift Bundle | $89.99 |
| Star Trek | Play Booster | $6.99 |
| Star Trek | Collector Booster | $37.99 |
| Star Trek | Bundle | $69.99 |
| Star Trek | Commander Deck | $74.99 |
Wizards lists The Hobbit tabletop release date as August 14, 2026, and names local game stores, TCGplayer, and Amazon as preorder routes. Its Star Trek page lists November 13, 2026 as the release date and the same retailer routes; as of October 4, 2026, Star Trek is a preorder, not released stock. Check the Hobbit guide and Star Trek guide for set-specific product details. Prices and availability outside the US may differ.
