The Hoid’s Storybook Collection is not available through its original crowdfunding campaign. Dragonsteel’s BackerKit campaign closed on March 29, 2026, so it is not an open pledge window. Dragonsteel said the four picture books would be published in other editions, but the official information available for this article does not confirm a live, in-stock retail listing. Check the current Dragonsteel Books store listing before ordering, and verify the edition, contents and checkout total.
If you backed the campaign, do not place a second retail order to replace your pledge. Open your pledge-specific BackerKit survey for the tier, add-ons and shipping address. Dragonsteel’s October 6, 2026 update says tier rewards are shipping and are expected to be finished before the end of November 2026; add-ons are expected in 2027. Those dates apply to campaign fulfillment, not to a new store purchase.

What is available now?
There are two different buying situations. A new customer is looking for a retail edition, while a campaign backer is waiting for a pledged reward. Treating them as the same order can lead to paying twice or expecting campaign-only features in a later edition.

Start at the Dragonsteel Books store or a current official Dragonsteel announcement. The March 3, 2026 campaign explanation states that the books would be available in other editions after the campaign. However, the official material does not establish that a product page is currently live or in stock. Do not describe the closed BackerKit page as a way to make a new pledge, and do not assume that a search result represents an authorized, available set.

For an existing pledge
Use the BackerKit survey attached to your account. It is the authoritative place to see the tier you selected, add-ons, shipping information and any address action required for that pledge. The latest fulfillment update separates tier rewards from add-ons: tier rewards are already entering shipment, with completion targeted before the end of November 2026, while add-ons are expected in 2027.
What the collection contains
The collection’s four picture books are illustrated expansions of stories that appeared in the Stormlight Archive or in Dragonsteel’s Story Deck. A listing that says “Hoid’s Storybook Collection” should identify these titles:
- The Dog and the Dragon
- Wandersail
- The Girl Who Looked Up
- The ChasmFriends Get a Pet
The campaign also offered The Fires of December, but it is a separate Hoid’s Travails novel, not a fifth picture book. A product page may sell that novel alone, bundle it with the storybooks, or mention it in campaign material. Read the “what’s included” section rather than relying on a collection name or a promotional photograph.

No current marketplace inventory, retail price comparison or destination-specific shipping rate is established here. A marketplace result can appear even when it is a different edition, a single title or a reseller’s listing.
How to check a retail listing before paying
- Confirm the seller and stock. Use the Dragonsteel store or a current official announcement as your starting point. Look for an actual “in stock,” “pre-order” or equivalent status. An old campaign page, cached search result or social post is not proof that an order can be placed today.
- Read the contents line by line. Make sure the product includes The Dog and the Dragon, Wandersail, The Girl Who Looked Up and The ChasmFriends Get a Pet if you want the complete picture-book set. If the page names only one title, it is not the four-book collection. If it names The Fires of December, determine whether that is an extra book, a separate product or the main item.
- Identify the physical format. Dragonsteel’s FAQ describes the picture books as hardcovers with dust jackets. Confirm that the listing says hardcover and specifies a dust jacket if those details matter to you. Do not infer a physical format from a thumbnail or from campaign artwork.
- Check the edition’s special features. Campaign descriptions mention gold foiling, guided editions and, for The Fires of December, printed or painted page edges. Dragonsteel also said later editions would exist, so these campaign features are not safe assumptions for a retail release. The campaign plan specifically described a later red cover for The Fires of December without the campaign’s painted page ends.
- Review the final checkout total. The original campaign tier price excluded shipping. Campaign shipping varied with cart total and destination, and international VAT and add-on shipping could apply. Those historical terms do not set current store rates. Enter your delivery location and inspect shipping, tax and any import charge shown before submitting payment.
- Check the order status language. “Pre-order,” “ships later” and “in stock” have different implications. A campaign fulfillment update cannot be used as a delivery promise for a new retail order.
- Save the exact listing details. Keep the order confirmation or a screenshot showing the title, included books and edition. This is useful if the seller later changes a marketplace description or if you need to distinguish a single-book order from a collection.
Campaign editions versus later editions
The campaign was designed around collector-oriented versions. Its materials describe gold foiling and guided editions for the picture books, while the novel could include printed or painted page edges. Those details may be limited to campaign rewards or particular pledge tiers.

The safest comparison is the written specification on the live product page. A photograph can show a campaign mock-up or a different edition, and a later edition can retain the same cover art while omitting a finish or guided material.

Backer fulfillment: what to do if you already pledged
Find the correct survey
Sign in to the BackerKit account associated with the pledge and open the survey for the Hoid’s Storybook Collection project. Dragonsteel Books Support’s September 9, 2026 guidance identifies the survey as the place to review pledge details and address information. If you cannot find it, use the account email originally connected to the campaign rather than creating a new retail order.
Separate tier rewards from add-ons
The October 6, 2026 project update says tier reward fulfillment has started and is expected to finish before the end of November 2026. It separately places add-on shipment in 2027. A missing add-on does not necessarily mean the main tier is missing, and a tier shipment estimate does not move the add-on schedule forward.
Review your shipping address
Check the address and any survey action requested by the project. Campaign shipping is tied to the pledge record, so changing details at a retail checkout will not update the campaign shipment. Keep your pledge confirmation and survey information together until every item on the pledge has been accounted for.

Shipping, tax and price questions
The campaign’s original tier price did not include shipping. Its shipping calculation depended on cart total and destination, and international orders could involve VAT and additional shipping for add-ons. Those are campaign terms from the closed project, not a published rate card for a current Dragonsteel store order.
For a new order, the amount that matters is the final checkout total for your location. Check whether tax is collected at checkout, whether the carrier may collect import charges, and whether a pre-order or back-order has a different shipping timeline. If the page does not state a charge or date, treat it as “not stated” rather than estimating from the campaign.

You can search for Hoid's Storybook Collection Brandon Sanderson to look for marketplace results, but no matching marketplace listing has been verified here. If a result appears, inspect it before following the purchase button:

- Is the seller identified and reputable?
- Does the title name the four picture books, or only one?
- Does the description say hardcover and dust jacket?
- Is it a campaign edition, a later edition or a resale copy?
- Are gold foil, guided content or painted page edges explicitly included?
- Does the photograph match the written contents?
- Are shipping, tax, condition and return terms visible before payment?
Do not call a marketplace listing the official campaign-exclusive edition unless the listing supplies evidence for that claim. A low price can indicate a single book, a different format, a used copy or an incomplete bundle.
Common ordering mistakes
Mistake: pledging after the deadline
The BackerKit campaign ended March 29, 2026. A page that still displays pledge tiers is historical campaign material, not confirmation that new pledges remain open.
Mistake: counting the novel as a picture book
The Fires of December belongs to Hoid’s Travails and was a separate campaign offering. Confirm the number and names of books in the cart.
Mistake: assuming every edition has collector finishes
Gold foiling, guided versions and painted page edges were tied to campaign offerings. Later editions can differ, including the planned red-cover novel without painted page ends.

The November 2026 and 2027 dates describe campaign fulfillment stages. They do not promise when a newly ordered retail copy will ship.
