If you want to buy Grand Theft Auto III today, start by looking for Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition. It packages GTA III with Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. The announced official buying routes are Steam or the Rockstar Games Launcher on PC, PlayStation Store on PlayStation, Microsoft Store on Xbox, and Nintendo eShop on Switch. Steam has a store page for Grand Theft Auto III – The Definitive Edition and also presents the three-game Definitive Edition Trilogy. Search the exact title, then inspect the page carefully: one result may represent GTA III as an individual entry while another represents the complete package.

Rockstar announced digital availability through the PlayStation Store and listed the Trilogy for PS4 and PS5. Open the store on the console or through the PlayStation website, then search for the Trilogy by its full name. The listing may be presented as a collection rather than as a separate GTA III purchase.

If you own a PS5, do not rely only on the title text. Check the platform badge and compatibility details on the live store page. A listing that mentions the Trilogy may still distinguish between PS4 and PS5 versions, and the available edition can vary by region.
Buying GTA 3 on Xbox
Microsoft Store is the announced Xbox route. Xbox has a product page for Grand Theft Auto III – The Definitive Edition, while the broader Trilogy can also appear as a collection. Use the store on your Xbox console or the Microsoft web storefront associated with your Microsoft account.
- Sign in with the Microsoft account that will purchase and play the game.
- Search for GTA III or the complete Definitive Edition Trilogy.
- Check the product page for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and any compatibility wording relevant to your console.
- Verify whether the result is an individual GTA III entry or the three-game package.
- Confirm the local price and included content before checkout.

The existence of an Xbox product page does not establish a single price or a permanent offer in every market. Microsoft Store pages can show different currencies, taxes, discounts and availability depending on the account region.
Buying GTA 3 on Nintendo Switch
Rockstar announced Nintendo eShop availability for Switch and also announced a physical Switch release. On the eShop, search for the full Trilogy title and check the current listing details. If you prefer a cartridge, search retailers for the boxed Switch edition and verify that the package is new or used, the region is suitable for your console and the seller clearly describes the contents.

- Search for Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition.
- Review the included games, storage information and the edition format displayed by the eShop.
- Check the price in your Nintendo account region and any active sale.
- Complete the purchase and download the software, or redeem the boxed copy according to the package instructions.
For a physical copy, inspect the box and retailer description for region, condition and any statement about required downloads. The release announcement confirms that a physical format exists, but it does not prove that a particular shop has stock today or that every package contains the same download arrangement.
Can you buy GTA 3 by itself?
The answer depends on the storefront and the listing you see. The modern product Rockstar promotes is the Definitive Edition Trilogy, which contains GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas. Steam presents a GTA III Definitive Edition page as well as the Trilogy bundle, and Xbox has a GTA III Definitive Edition product page. Those pages do not establish that every platform or country sells a permanently separate copy at the same price.
If you only want GTA III, read the product description and checkout summary for an explicit statement of included games. If the purchase page lists all three titles, you are buying the Trilogy even if the search result began with GTA III. Conversely, a page labeled GTA III – The Definitive Edition should be checked for whether it is a standalone license or a shortcut into the collection. When the distinction is unclear, compare the itemized contents and the final cart total rather than relying on the thumbnail or search headline.
Digital download or physical copy?
Digital editions

Search using the complete title, then open each result’s details. Compare the included games and platform badge. A Trilogy collection and a GTA III entry may be displayed next to each other, so the first result is not necessarily the package you want.

The listing is unavailable in your region
Regional licensing and store catalogs can differ.
