The safest way to buy an authentic One Piece figure is to start with a manufacturer-owned channel or a retailer that the figure’s brand identifies as authorized. In the United States, Premium Bandai USA’s BANPRESTO shop and Bandai Namco Amusement America’s BANPRESTO OFFICIAL SHOP are concrete starting points. A marketplace name alone is not a guarantee: investigate the specific seller attached to the listing, then compare the exact product, packaging and price with official information.
Availability, shipping regions, stock and seller records change. Use the checks below for the particular figure and offer you are considering rather than assuming that every listing under a familiar marketplace or character name is genuine.

Start with an official or authorized sales channel
Bandai Spirits recommends buying through its official shop or authorized retailers. The company also says that some official retail sites are linked from product-information pages, so the product page for the exact line you want is a useful authority check.
United States: Premium Bandai USA
Premium Bandai USA’s shops page describes a BANPRESTO shop and tags it with One Piece merchandise. It presents that shop as a route intended to assure authenticity and reliability. Check the live listing for stock, the exact character and figure line, delivery to your address, shipping charges and the applicable return terms before paying.

Bandai Namco Amusement America
Bandai Namco Amusement America lists a BANPRESTO OFFICIAL SHOP. Its brand information describes Banpresto as a BANDAI SPIRITS character-merchandise brand that produces figurines, and identifies ICHIBANSHO FIGURE as a statue brand. These descriptions help confirm that a product is associated with a real manufacturer line; they do not prove that an unrelated marketplace seller is authorized.
Other regions
Premium Bandai’s international portal directs shoppers to regional destinations including Taiwan, Hong Kong/Macau, Singapore, the USA, Australia, New Zealand and selected Southeast Asian Shopee stores. Catalogues, currencies, delivery coverage and return rules differ by destination. Use the portal’s regional destination for your country instead of assuming that a US shop, a Japanese listing or a regional storefront will ship to you.

Why a marketplace name is not a reputation check
A marketplace can host both reliable specialist retailers and occasional or casual sellers. The relevant reputation is the name shown as “sold by,” “seller,” or its equivalent on the specific offer, not merely the website or app where you found it. Manufacturer guidance warns that counterfeit goods appear on internet and auction sites, so treat each offer as a separate transaction.

1. Record the actual seller
Write down the legal or trading name, storefront name, location, contact method and whether the seller is a business or an individual. A listing that hides the seller’s identity, provides only a generic email address or refuses basic questions deserves extra scrutiny. Keep screenshots of the listing, seller name, stated condition, promised accessories and return policy before ordering.
2. Examine recent, relevant feedback
Read recent comments about figures or other licensed collectibles, not just the seller’s overall star percentage. Look for repeated reports of bootlegs, missing parts, opened boxes, substituted items, poor packaging, delayed refunds or tracking that never updates. A large number of reviews does not cancel out a pattern in the same product category. Conversely, a small but detailed history may provide less confidence than a long record of verifiable sales.
3. Look for authorization on the brand’s own pages
Search the manufacturer’s product page for the exact line and see whether it links to the shop or names the retailer as authorized. Authorization is line-specific: a store that is legitimate for one manufacturer is not automatically authorized for every One Piece brand. If the brand provides no retailer listing, treat the seller as unaffiliated and rely on the remaining checks rather than assuming approval.

4. Check the seller’s business terms
Before payment, confirm the return window, who pays return shipping, whether opened packaging is excluded, how defects are handled and where disputes must be filed. Make sure the delivery address, import charges and tax responsibility are clear. Use a payment method with a documented dispute process, and retain the order confirmation, correspondence and photographs of the parcel when it arrives.

Authenticity checks work best when you compare like for like. Search the manufacturer’s product information for the exact character, series, scale or prize designation, release or edition name, colorway and included accessories. A listing that uses a shortened or altered name may be misidentified or counterfeit.
Product identity and images
- Match the full product name, character spelling and line name.
- Compare official photographs for pose, facial expression, paint colors, base, logo placement and box artwork.
- Check that the stated release or edition corresponds to the packaging and accessories shown.
- Confirm every option part, stand, weapon, effect piece and alternate hand or face that the official description lists.
- Be cautious when photographs are only stock images and the seller will not provide a picture of the actual box and item.
Marks that deserve attention
Tamashii Nations’ counterfeit guidance identifies missing or unfamiliar brand marks, absent copyright information, unusual or abbreviated product names and option parts that differ from the official product as warning signs. These indicators are useful for Tamashii Nations products and should not be treated as a universal checklist for every Banpresto or other One Piece figure.
Use packaging and anti-counterfeit features correctly
Tamashii Nations says products released from 2023 onward generally carry a special anti-counterfeit quality seal, with exceptions. Its guidance also says products released during 2018–2023 used a hologram. Release dates overlap in that description, so identify the particular product and follow the packaging guidance for that line rather than applying a single date rule.
A missing seal can be significant for a Tamashii Nations item when the official product information says one should be present, but seal absence alone is not proof of a counterfeit. Packaging may vary by region, reissue or exception. Do not demand a Tamashii seal on an unrelated Banpresto package: no equivalent universal seal rule for all One Piece manufacturers is established here.
Inspect the parcel on arrival
- Photograph the unopened shipping carton and all sides of the retail box.
- Compare logos, copyright text, product name, barcode or item code and warning labels with official images.
- Open the package carefully and verify paint, sculpt, fit, base and every listed accessory.
- Look for unusual plastic smell, blurred printing, crooked labels, mismatched colors or parts that do not fit the documented product.
- Keep the box, inserts and shipping materials until you are satisfied that the item is authentic and undamaged.
Price is a warning signal, not a verdict
Bandai, MegaHouse and Banpresto’s January 31, 2014 notice about counterfeit One Piece goods described unusually cheap pricing as a major characteristic of infringing products. A low price can also result from a clearance sale, a used item, damaged packaging, a regional price difference or a missing accessory, so price alone cannot establish authenticity. Treat a dramatic discount as a reason to investigate the seller, condition and provenance more closely.

Compare the complete delivered cost rather than only the headline number. Include shipping, taxes, import charges, marketplace fees, insurance and the cost of returning a suspected counterfeit. A “new” figure priced far below ordinary offers while the seller provides no explanation, no actual photographs and no meaningful return route combines several warning signs.

A joint announcement dated January 31, 2014, from Bandai Co., Ltd., MegaHouse Corporation and BANPRESTO Co., Ltd. reported that more than 1,000 counterfeit One Piece goods were confiscated during raids on six stores in Guangzhou, China, in November 2013. The companies wrote: “We Bandai, MegaHouse and BANPRESTO are officially authorized to produce and sell the goods of ONE PIECE characters.”
That incident is a historical enforcement event, not a current estimate of how common counterfeits are. No comparable official statistic establishes the present share or volume of counterfeit One Piece figures worldwide. Use the event to understand that counterfeits have existed in the category, not to assign a numerical risk to every marketplace or region.
Choose between genuine figure options without confusing authenticity and preference
There is no single “best” One Piece figure established by the available manufacturer information. Once you have found legitimate offers, compare the products on consistent axes:

Searching for “Banpresto One Piece figure” can locate the right category, but that phrase does not identify a particular model, prove current stock or establish the reputation of a seller. Narrow the search to the exact character and line, then apply the seller and packaging checks.
If the figure looks counterfeit or materially different
Stop treating the transaction as a normal quality complaint when the item has missing brand or copyright information, an altered name, wrong parts or suspicious packaging. Photograph the item and box, preserve the listing and correspondence, and contact the shop that sold it. Tamashii Nations states that counterfeit products are outside its quality guarantee and that its support center does not support counterfeit items, so the seller and the payment provider are the practical first contacts for a marketplace dispute.
