Compare the same appliance model and configuration at several U.S. retailers, then compare what it will cost to get it installed and usable at your address. The real total can include delivery, installation, required parts, permits or extra labor, and old-appliance haul-away—not just the price shown on the product page. There is no universally best retailer established by the published terms reviewed here; offers and service conditions depend on the product, location, and utility hookups.
Compare the total cost, not just the appliance price
Start with an identical model number, finish, configuration, and included accessories. A similar-looking appliance may not be the same item, and a different configuration can change both price and installation needs.

- Appliance price: Confirm the exact model and what accessories are included.
- Delivery: Check the delivery charge, appointment availability, and any conditions for bringing the unit into the home.
- Installation: Identify what work is included, which existing hookups must be compatible, and what is excluded.
- Parts and extra work: Add required connectors, hoses, cords, ducts, installation kits, permits, or labor not covered by the listed service.
- Haul-away: Record whether removal and recycling are included, available for a fee, or unavailable under the selected service.
- Returns and warranty: Note the return deadline and how pickup works, as well as any stated warranty coverage.
Retailers publish different bundles and exclusions. A low item price or “free installation” label does not by itself establish the lowest installed total.

The details below are published U.S. retailer terms, not independent ratings of delivery crews or guarantees that a particular order qualifies. Confirm the terms shown for your item and address before paying.

Costco’s stated two-year coverage is a retailer-published policy, not an independent assessment of warranty claims or service quality. The Best Buy 90-day figure applies to workmanship on appliance services, not to returns of the appliance itself.

Check fit, utilities, and required parts before scheduling
A delivery can be delayed or an installation can require extra work if the appliance does not fit the route or the existing connections do not match the product. Check the product manual and service conditions before choosing an installation option.

- Measure the appliance and route: Check the product dimensions and the doorways or other access points on the delivery path. Home Depot recommends checking these dimensions as part of preparation.
- Confirm the hookup: Note the utility type, outlet or connection, and shutoff location. Compare them with the model’s manual and the retailer’s installation requirements.
- Identify new parts: Ask whether the job needs a new hose, cord, duct, connector, or installation kit, and whether that part and the labor to fit it are included. For a refrigerator with an ice maker or water dispenser, a refrigerator water line installation kit may be relevant; Lowe’s says new connectors are sold separately, and Best Buy excludes a new waterline from its stated free refrigerator installation. Verify compatibility for the exact model and hookup rather than assuming one kit fits every refrigerator.
- Check permits and extra labor: Best Buy’s service disclosure notes that necessary parts, accessories, or permits may be charged separately. Confirm any requirements that apply at your address.
- Prepare the old appliance: Ask whether it must be disconnected, emptied, or otherwise prepared before the delivery crew arrives, and whether haul-away covers your old unit’s type.
Know the return and delivery-acceptance process
Before ordering, find the return deadline for the exact product and establish who arranges pickup if you need to return it. Do not assume another retailer’s policy—or even another product category’s terms—apply to your order.

At delivery, follow the retailer’s inspection instructions before accepting the appliance. Best Buy specifically advises inspecting a major appliance before acceptance and contacting it promptly about damage, defects, or other issues after acceptance. Keep the order details and any delivery records so you can refer to them if a problem arises.

- Choose the exact model, configuration, finish, and included accessories you want.
- Enter your delivery address and add the appliance to each retailer’s cart to reveal applicable delivery and service options.
- Ask what installation includes and list any incompatible hookups, required parts, permits, or additional labor that would add cost.
- Add haul-away or disposal costs and confirm the old unit qualifies for the selected service.
- Record the applicable return window, pickup process, warranty terms, and appointment availability alongside the complete cost.
- Compare the completed totals and policies, then recheck them at checkout because published offers and service availability can depend on location, model, and service conditions.
The evidence here establishes retailer-published terms, not which seller will have the lowest price for a specific appliance or provide the best delivery experience. Home Depot’s and Lowe’s current major-appliance return windows also require order-specific verification.
