Where Are Yamaha Receivers Made? How to Check the Country of Origin

Yamaha does not publish one country of origin for its entire receiver lineup. The company says its products, including audio equipment, are primarily manufactured and assembled across group-company bases in Japan, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, and India, and that it also uses manufacturing contractors. That broad statement does not identify where a particular receiver model—or the exact unit you are buying—was made. Check the country-of-origin marking on the receiver itself.

Where are Yamaha receivers made?

Yamaha’s company-wide manufacturing information names Japan, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, and India as bases where Yamaha Group companies primarily manufacture and assemble products. Yamaha also says it uses manufacturing contractors. The production-site information is dated “As of March 31, 2026,” and covers the company’s broader product portfolio, not a country-by-country map of receiver models. Yamaha’s supply-chain information therefore cannot establish that every listed country makes receivers or identify the origin of a specific model.

Yamaha’s worldwide group-company directory names Yamaha Electronics Manufacturing (M) Sdn Bhd in Chemor, Malaysia, and Yamaha Electronics (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. in Suzhou, China, as manufacturers of audio equipment. That confirms audio-equipment manufacturing at those subsidiaries, but does not say which AV receiver models they make.

Yamaha’s regional AV receiver catalog lists AVENTAGE, RX, and TSR/HTR families, including RX-A8A, RX-A6A, RX-A4A, RX-A2A, and RX-V6A. A product listing shows that a receiver is in that regional catalog; it does not show its manufacturing country, and the catalog is not a complete lineup for every market.

How can I check the country of origin for my Yamaha receiver?

The exact unit is the best place to verify. A product-family name or model number alone does not prove where an individual receiver was made.

  1. If you have the receiver: Find its identification label or plate and read the country-of-origin marking. Use the marking on that unit, rather than assuming the origin from a listing or another receiver with the same family name.
  2. If you are considering a purchase: Ask the seller for a clear photo of the origin marking on the exact unit being offered. A stock image, catalog page, or label photo from a different production batch may not establish that unit’s origin.
  3. Check the exact documentation: Match the model designation and regional variant to Yamaha’s documentation. Do not infer origin from the model number, product family, retailer listing, or Yamaha’s headquarters country.
  4. Ask Yamaha if it remains unclear: Give the regional Yamaha representative or authorized distributor the model and label details. Yamaha’s support directory directs customers to a nearest representative or listed authorized distributor for product details.

What the available information can—and cannot—tell you

  • It can provide manufacturing-network context: Yamaha describes production and assembly bases in five countries and identifies audio-equipment manufacturing subsidiaries in Malaysia and China.
  • It cannot assign an origin to a receiver model: The cited corporate pages do not link a named receiver to a particular factory or country.
  • A catalog is not proof of origin: Seeing an RX, AVENTAGE, or TSR/HTR model in a regional lineup does not reveal where that unit was manufactured.
  • No receiver-specific percentage or count is established: Yamaha’s March 31, 2026 date applies to its production-site disclosure, not a statistic about receiver manufacturing.
