What Reset does in Aion 2
Soul Binding gives equipment a group of stat lines that can be improved or rerolled through several different actions. Reset replaces or shuffles the complete group of lines together. It is therefore a full reroll, not a way to repair one isolated attribute.

The word Rebind appears in some community explanations for the same all-lines operation. Before spending anything, match the action name and description shown for your item in the current game client; terminology can vary between guides and versions.

Reset is not the same as Bind. Bind strengthens the lines already present; it does not give you a new set. Sync is not a miniature Reset either: it targets one chosen line, which limits the collateral risk.
When a Reset is worth the risk
All lines conflict with your build
Reset becomes reasonable when the complete set is unsuitable: for example, several lines favor a different role and there is no single line worth protecting. A full reroll has a chance to produce a coherent set where repeated one-line changes would consume more materials and time.
The item is a long-term piece
Rerolling can make sense on equipment you expect to keep through the current progression tier. On a temporary item, spending rare Reset materials before an upgrade or replacement is usually difficult to justify. Consider whether the item will still occupy your build after your next major gear step.
You have a realistic resource buffer
Do not budget only the displayed Kina amount. Include the Reset codex, the opportunity cost of materials that could improve a better item, and enough remaining resources to live with an average result. A Reset is a gamble even when the fee is affordable.

You have checked the resulting-state warning
The reviewed sources do not conclusively establish whether Reset removes previously accumulated Binding Rate progress or upgraded values on existing lines. That uncertainty is material. If the confirmation text says either type of progress will change, treat that statement as decisive and cancel if the loss is unacceptable.
When Sync is the better choice
Only one stat line is wrong
Sync rerolls one selected line while leaving the rest of the set as your target. This is the default choice when four lines are useful and one line is dead weight. Select the unwanted line deliberately; do not assume the system will identify the weakest attribute for you.
You are protecting a rare combination
A good collection of lines can be harder to reproduce than a single replacement. Sync preserves that combination while giving you a focused attempt at the problem line. The trade-off is that the rerolled line can still come back weak or unsuitable.

If a replacement is near, a full Reset may create value you cannot use for long. A limited Sync attempt can be more defensible, but only after checking whether the item’s binding effects can instead be transferred.

What you can lose—and what is not confirmed
The current stat lines
This is the direct and established risk. Reset rerolls the complete set, so every current line is exposed, including lines you would have kept if the game offered a lock option. Record or screenshot the current attributes before confirming so you can compare the result.
Binding Rate and line-value investment
The available references do not answer clearly whether a Reset also removes prior Binding Rate progress or the upgraded values on those lines. Do not present either outcome as guaranteed. Read the item-specific confirmation text immediately before acceptance; if it is silent, treat the behavior as unresolved and avoid Resetting an item whose investment you cannot replace.
Materials and Kinah
The fee and the Reset codex are consumed resources. A Corpus guide published October 4, 2026, reports 300,000 Kina plus Soul Codex: Reset for the Unique gear it inspected, with three bound Reset codices listed in that example. This is an observed cost for that item and context, not a universal price for every equipment grade, region or patch. The Reset screen for your target item overrides the guide.

Future transfer value
Resetting an item can change what you later carry to a replacement. NCSOFT’s Season 2 announcement says Transfer can move Soul Binding effects from existing gear to new gear and permits up to six transfers per equipment piece. A community reference says base stat lines transfer at their bound values but the extra line unlocked with Philosopher’s Stones does not. Because that exception is not spelled out in the cited announcement, verify the current Transfer interface before relying on it.

How to decide, step by step
- Inventory the lines. Write down every current stat line and mark each as keep, acceptable, or unacceptable for your actual build. Include lines that are valuable because of breakpoints, not just their displayed size.
- Check whether one line is the problem. If yes, open the Sync option and confirm the selected line and its required same-grade gear or Sync material. If several or all lines fail your requirements, continue evaluating Reset.
- Check the item’s lifespan. Look at your planned upgrade path. A near-term replacement favors saving resources or investigating Transfer rather than paying for a complete reroll.
- Open the live Reset screen. Confirm the exact action name, the codex type, the Kina amount and any grade or binding requirements. Do not rely on a price copied from a guide.
- Read the warning in full. Look specifically for language about replacing all lines, Binding Rate, line values, locked or extra lines, and irreversible consumption. The reviewed references leave the progress question unresolved, so the in-game text matters.
- Compare the worst acceptable outcome. Ask whether you can equip the item if the reroll produces no useful line. If that result would cripple the build, postpone the Reset until you have a replacement or enough resources for recovery.
- Confirm only after the comparison. Capture the original item state, then accept the operation. Inspect every resulting line rather than judging only the first stat displayed.
Reading the cost correctly
Community prices are snapshots, not a permanent tariff. The 300,000-Kina figure is tied to the Unique gear checked by the Corpus guide in October 2026. Another item grade, server rule set or later patch can show a different amount or material requirement. The PLAYNC Lounge explanation repeats the same 300,000-Kina plus Soul Codex: Reset example, but it identifies itself as AI-generated and advises verification through official channels. Use it as a prompt to check the client, not as proof of a universal cost.
Also distinguish a bound codex from an unbound one if the screen does so. The guide’s example lists three bound Reset codices; that wording describes the observed material state and should not be generalized to every inventory or item.
Transfer planning before you reroll
Season 2 expanded Soul Binding options and introduced Transfer alongside additional Sync capacity. If the equipment is a stepping-stone, map the order of operations before changing it: determine whether you will bind, Reset or Sync first, and only then decide when to move effects to the new piece.

- NCSOFT states that one equipment piece can be transferred up to six times.
- The community reference says base lines carry over at their bound values.
- The same reference says the Philosopher’s Stone extra line does not transfer.
- The cited announcement does not explicitly document that extra-line exception, so inspect the current Transfer preview for your item.
A transfer limit also makes repeated experimentation costly over an item’s life. If you are close to the six-transfer ceiling, preserve the item and verify the destination before committing a change that cannot be moved again.
Common mistakes and recovery checks
Resetting to fix one bad line
This exposes every other line unnecessarily. Back out and use Sync when the interface offers a selected-line reroll and the rest of the set is useful.
Treating a guide price as fixed
Open the current Reset screen and compare its Kina and material list with the guide example. If they differ, the live item display wins.
Assuming progress is preserved
Because the available sources do not settle Binding Rate or line-value retention, never spend on the assumption that either is safe. Read the warning and record the pre-Reset state.
Ignoring a planned replacement
Check Transfer eligibility and remaining transfer count first. A strong result on an item you cannot move may be less useful than a modest result on the gear you will actually keep.
Failing to compare the complete result
After a Reset, evaluate all lines together against your build’s requirements. A single high number does not automatically make the new set better than the one you replaced.
A practical decision rule
Choose Bind when the set is right and only its values need improvement. Choose Sync when one selected line is the obstacle. Choose Reset/Rebind only when the entire set is poor, the item is worth keeping, the current fee is acceptable, and the confirmation warning contains no unacceptable loss. Choose Transfer when replacement gear is the real goal and the current rules show that the effects you care about will carry over.
The safest habit is to pause at the final confirmation: compare every line, verify the exact material and Kina charge, check Binding Rate and value language, and inspect Transfer implications before accepting an all-lines reroll.
