What shadPS4’s listed requirements actually mean
For context only, shadPS4’s quick-start page lists a CPU with at least four cores and six threads, running above 2.5 GHz and supporting x86-64-v3; a GPU with at least 2 GB of VRAM and Vulkan 1.3 with specified extensions; 8 GB of RAM; and Windows 10, Ubuntu 22.04, or macOS 15.4. These are project-listed minimums for shadPS4, and the guide says the emulator is early in development, with many games not working or experiencing emulation issues. Sony’s PS5 system-software page provides update instructions for an actual PS5 console. Sony warns: “Don’t download or install the update using data other than the official update file provided online by Sony Interactive Entertainment.” That notice is about console updates; it does not validate a PC emulator or explain how to use an update file with one. How would you get PS5 game files?
No independently corroborated PS5 game-dumping workflow is established here. shadPS4’s guide says games, updates, and DLC are copyrighted and must be dumped from the reader’s own copy, but its documented workflow uses a PS4.
