To play a Crunchyroll Game Vault title on Android, you need an eligible paid Crunchyroll membership, the Crunchyroll mobile app, a compatible Android device, and access to Google Play. Current Crunchyroll Help guidance names Mega Fan, Ultimate Fan, and Annual Mega Fan subscribers as eligible. The general Android guidance is Android 8.0 or later, at least 6 GB of RAM recommended for the best experience, and at least 10 GB of additional free storage. Those are broad recommendations, not a universal specification for every game, so the selected title’s Google Play listing and support page are the final checks.
Game Vault does not require a physical accessory for ordinary play. A Bluetooth controller is an optional choice for supported games; Crunchyroll specifically documents local two-player controller support for River City Girls.

Current qualifying tiers
Yes. Game Vault is described by Crunchyroll Help as a subscription-based offering for Mega Fan, Ultimate Fan, and Annual Mega Fan subscribers. You must sign in with the account that holds one of those memberships; having the Crunchyroll app alone does not establish Game Vault access.

The tier names matter because “Premium” is a broad way people often describe Crunchyroll’s paid service. The current Game Vault help material identifies the three tiers above rather than saying that every paid tier qualifies. If your account uses a different plan name, check the membership details in your Crunchyroll account before troubleshooting your phone.
What the launch announcement said
Crunchyroll’s November 7, 2023 launch announcement, updated November 16, described Game Vault access for Mega and Ultimate Fan members and said the launch games were available without ads or in-app purchases. That announcement is useful historical context, but the current Help article is the appropriate reference for today’s eligibility list. Do not assume that a launch-era description overrides the current account requirements or that every later title has identical commercial terms.
Android software and hardware requirements
Android version
Crunchyroll’s general mobile specification page recommends Android 8.0 or later for its games. A separate supported-device article also lists Android 8 as the minimum Android operating-system version for the Crunchyroll app. These two statements establish the app and general platform baseline; they do not prove that every individual game will run equally well on every Android 8 device.

- Extra R4/L4 bumpers. Custom button mapping without using software. Turbo function.

RAM
Crunchyroll’s general guidance recommends 6 GB of RAM or more for the best experience. “Recommended” is important: the page does not establish that 6 GB is a mandatory launch threshold for every Game Vault title. A phone with less memory may install a game yet have less room for the game and other apps to operate smoothly.
As an illustration of title-level variation, one Crunchyroll Games support page for a specific game lists 4 GB of RAM, Android 8 or higher, and 10 GB of free storage. That example is not a universal Game Vault specification. Use it to understand why the title you selected must be checked separately, not as permission to generalize 4 GB to the entire catalogue.
Free storage
The general specification calls for at least 10 GB of additional free space. “Additional” means space available beyond what Android, the Crunchyroll app, and your other installed data already occupy. Storage is also needed for downloaded assets and future updates, so a device that is barely above the threshold can become constrained after installation.
The amount shown in a Google Play listing is the most relevant figure for the chosen title. If that listing or its support page asks for a different amount, follow the title-specific number rather than the general recommendation.

How to check your Android device before downloading
Android menus vary by manufacturer, but the following checks use labels found on many current phones and tablets.
- Check the operating system. Open Settings, then look for About phone or About tablet, and open Android version. Confirm that the device meets the Android version shown in the selected game’s Google Play listing. On some devices, the version appears under Software information.
- Check free storage. In Settings, open Storage. Record the available space, not the total capacity. Compare it with the selected game’s current listing and leave room for Android and ordinary app updates.
- Check memory. Search Settings for Memory or RAM; on some devices this is under About phone, Device care, or a developer-oriented device-information screen. If the manufacturer does not show RAM in Settings, use the model’s official specifications. Compare the result with the game’s own requirement and the general recommendation.
- Confirm Google Play is working. Open the Play Store while connected to the account you intend to use. A working store is needed because Crunchyroll sends Android installations through Google Play.
- Confirm the account. Open the Crunchyroll app and verify that the signed-in profile is the one with the qualifying membership. This prevents installing or opening a title while signed in under a different profile.
How to install a Game Vault title on Android
- Install or update the Crunchyroll mobile app. Use Google Play and complete any available app update before looking for Game Vault. An older app can present different navigation from the current Help instructions.
- Sign in to Crunchyroll. Use the account with the Mega Fan, Ultimate Fan, or Annual Mega Fan membership. If you have several profiles or accounts, check the account identity before continuing.
- Open Game Vault from the home page. Crunchyroll’s installation guidance directs users to find the Game Vault section on the app’s home page. Select it to view available titles.
- Choose a game. Open the title’s detail page and read its platform, Android-version, RAM, storage, and controller information before starting the download.
- Follow the Google Play redirect. Tap the install option provided by the Crunchyroll app. Android should take you to that game’s Google Play page, where you can review the listing and choose Install.
- Wait for the download and installation. Keep enough free storage for the package and its downloaded data. The Play Store, rather than a separate Crunchyroll installer, handles the Android installation.
- Launch the game. Open it from the Play Store or your app drawer. If the title asks you to authenticate, use the same Crunchyroll account that has the eligible membership.
Alternative: search Google Play directly
Crunchyroll also says users can search for Game Vault games directly in the Play Store. Search the exact title, open the matching listing, and confirm that it is the Game Vault version before installing. Starting from the Crunchyroll app is generally safer when several similarly named apps appear because the app’s Game Vault page identifies the intended catalogue entry.
How to judge a specific game’s compatibility
Use the general figures as a quick screen, then treat the selected title’s listing as the final authority. Before downloading, check these items together:
| Check | General Crunchyroll guidance | What to use for the final decision |
|---|---|---|
| Android release | Android 8.0 or later | The selected game’s current Google Play and support-page requirement |
| RAM | 6 GB or more recommended for the best experience | The game’s stated minimum or recommendation; one documented title lists 4 GB |
| Free storage | At least 10 GB additional space recommended | The game’s current download and free-space guidance; one documented title lists 10 GB |
| Graphics and performance | Not stated as a single Game Vault-wide specification | The title listing, device compatibility result, and observed behavior on your model |
| Controller support | Not a general requirement | The individual game’s feature description |
Google Play may show a device-compatibility warning or hide the install button when a device does not meet a title’s declared conditions. If the listing is installable but performance is poor, that does not necessarily contradict the general guidance: recommended memory and a minimum install threshold describe different expectations.

Do you need a controller or other accessory?
No physical accessory is required for general Game Vault access on Android. Start with the phone or tablet’s built-in controls and follow the selected game’s own control description.
There is a documented, game-specific reason to add a Bluetooth controller: Crunchyroll’s launch announcement for River City Girls says, “Supports local two-player co-op with Bluetooth controllers.” That statement applies to that feature and title. It should not be treated as evidence that every Game Vault game supports controllers or local multiplayer.
If you choose a controller for a supported title, pair it through Android’s Bluetooth settings before launching the game, then check the game’s control settings. Pairing a controller cannot compensate for an operating-system, RAM, storage, or account-eligibility mismatch.

Troubleshooting common access problems
Game Vault is not visible in the Crunchyroll app
- Check that you are signed in to the account with a currently qualifying membership.
- Update the Crunchyroll app through Google Play, then close and reopen it.
- Verify that you are looking on the app’s home page, where Crunchyroll’s installation instructions place the Game Vault section.
- If the section is still absent, open Crunchyroll Help and compare your account tier with the current Game Vault eligibility wording rather than relying on the 2023 launch description.
The Google Play page will not install the game
- Read the listing’s Android version, memory, and storage information and compare it with your device.
- Check available storage in Settings; a nearly full device can fail even when total capacity appears large.
- Make sure Google Play is signed in and functioning, since the Android download is routed through the Play Store.
- Use the game’s support page when the listing and the general Crunchyroll specification appear different. The title-specific information takes precedence for that game.
The game installs but runs poorly
- Compare your device’s RAM with the title’s recommendation, not just its ability to install.
- Close other demanding apps and restart the device before testing again.
- Leave additional storage available for downloaded assets and updates.
- Check the title’s current support information for known device-specific guidance. The general Game Vault page does not guarantee identical performance across all Android hardware.
A controller is not recognized
- Confirm that the specific game advertises controller support; Game Vault access itself does not imply it.
- Pair the Bluetooth controller in Android before opening the game, then look for a controller or input option in the game’s settings.
- For local two-player play, verify that the title explicitly supports that mode. Crunchyroll’s documented example is River City Girls, not the whole catalogue.
Android and iOS availability
Crunchyroll’s current platform guidance lists Game Vault titles as available on Android and iOS. This does not mean that a particular title has identical requirements on both systems. For an Android installation, use the Android Play Store listing and Android-specific support details associated with that title.
What to verify before you press Install
- Your Crunchyroll account is signed in and has a Mega Fan, Ultimate Fan, or Annual Mega Fan membership.
- The Android version shown in Settings meets the selected game’s listing.
- Available storage meets the title’s requirement, with room beyond the bare installation figure.
- Your device’s RAM is consistent with the title’s stated minimum or recommendation; the general 6 GB guidance is not a universal game requirement.
- The Play Store opens normally and is using the intended Google account.
- You have checked whether the title supports touch controls, a Bluetooth controller, local multiplayer, or none of those features.
Once those checks pass, open Game Vault in the Crunchyroll app, select the title, follow the Google Play link, and install it from the listing. The membership unlocks the catalogue, while the individual game’s listing determines whether your particular Android device is ready.
