If you want political satire after GTA 6, start with Disco Elysium: The Final Cut for the richest political role-playing and city atmosphere, Watch Dogs 2 for a contemporary action sandbox skewering tech culture, or The Outer Worlds for corporate satire in a science-fiction RPG. None is a direct replacement for GTA 6: the best choice depends on whether you want dialogue and investigation, urban action, or spacefaring role-play.
Which game should you play after GTA 6?
Choose by the part of the experience you want to keep. If your priority is a city shaped by politics and social systems, choose Disco Elysium: The Final Cut. If you want a modern city, action, and jokes about technology companies, choose Watch Dogs 2. If corporate power and consumer culture are the draw, The Outer Worlds offers a very different, science-fiction RPG route.

| Game | Satirical focus | Play structure | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Disco Elysium: The Final Cut | Politics and social systems, conveyed through characters, dialogue, and setting | Investigation and dialogue-led role-playing in a compact city district | Players who value political texture and character choices over action |
| Watch Dogs 2 | Silicon Valley and technology culture, as characterized by GamesRadar+’s comparison | Contemporary city action sandbox | Players who want the closest match here to urban action and freedom |
| The Outer Worlds | Corporate power, consumer culture, and how power is used against people with less of it | Science-fiction role-playing across colony worlds | Players who want corporate satire and role-playing, not a GTA-style city |
Disco Elysium: The Final Cut is the strongest political-RPG match
Disco Elysium: The Final Cut trades driving and action-sandbox play for detective work, dialogue, and a city with pronounced political and social texture. You investigate a murder in Revachol; the case reaches into the lives of the city’s residents. The official game site describes an open-world role-playing game in which a detective makes a path across a city block using a distinctive skill system. PlayStation’s Canada listing likewise describes investigation, exploration, dialogue, and role-playing choices, and lists PS4 and PS5 availability for that region.
This is the pick if “open world” means a place to explore and interpret rather than a large map built around driving, weapons, and free-roaming action. Its strengths are investigation, conversation, character, and the way the fictional city gives political ideas a human setting.

Watch Dogs 2 is the closest city-sandbox option
Watch Dogs 2 is the most suitable of these three if you want a contemporary urban action structure. GamesRadar+’s GTA comparison guide describes it as a tonal follow-up to the first Watch Dogs and identifies Silicon Valley and technology companies as targets of its satire. That is an editorial characterization, not a guarantee that every player will find its humor politically sharp.
Its advantage over the other recommendations is the modern city-sandbox premise; its distinction from Disco Elysium is that it is not primarily a dialogue-heavy political RPG. GamesRadar+ lists PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Check platform and edition availability in your region before buying.

The Outer Worlds brings corporate satire to a sci-fi RPG
The Outer Worlds is a fit if you want to explore corporate power and consumer culture through a science-fiction role-playing game, rather than a contemporary city sandbox. In a 2019 GameSpot interview report, co-director Leonard Boyarsky said: “I don’t want people to think this is a really hard, politically charged game: it’s supposed to be fun, it’s supposed to be humorous.” Boyarsky described the game as more concerned with how power is used against people who lack it than with a direct critique of capitalism. The report also says the developers aimed to poke fun at consumer culture without making the game feel like a lecture; these are accounts of their intended tone, not a single definitive interpretation of the game.

A later GamesRadar+ interview recap with The Outer Worlds 2 game director Brandon Adler describes the series’ satirical approach as focused on power structures and abuse by people in power. Adler’s comments concern the sequel and the series’ approach; they should not be treated as a definitive reading of the original game.

- For political role-playing and a distinctive city: Disco Elysium: The Final Cut. Expect investigation and dialogue, not a GTA-style action sandbox.
- For a contemporary urban sandbox and technology satire: Watch Dogs 2. Its satire targets tech culture, in GamesRadar+’s assessment.
- For corporate satire in science fiction: The Outer Worlds. Expect a role-playing game about power and consumer culture, not a modern city setting.
There is no universal best answer to “What should I play after GTA 6?” If political atmosphere and character choices matter most, start with Disco Elysium; if action in a recognizable modern urban setting matters more, try Watch Dogs 2. Choose The Outer Worlds when the satirical target matters more than matching GTA’s setting or action structure.
