The Railyard Nomad Camp’s confirmed quest loot is the Equatorial Sundial. During Clean Hands, enter through the drainage pipes on the Railyard’s southwest side, climb the raised catwalks, and search the highlighted yellow duffle bag near their middle junction. Take the Sundial to the Old Town church tower, read the marked railing, then extract from Pendola Pass with the item.
What you actually loot at Railyard Nomad Camp
The item tied to the camp is the Equatorial Sundial, a quest object for Clean Hands. It is found in a highlighted yellow bag on the elevated metal walkways inside the camp. The bag may be described as a yellow duffle bag in guides, but it is the same clearly marked container.

Current location guides identify this quest item but do not publish a complete, repeatable loot table for the camp. There is no substantiated list of guaranteed weapons, valuables, armor, ammunition, or other items that always appear there. Randomized loot can change between runs, while the evidence available for this location specifically confirms the Sundial objective.

Leave an inventory slot open
Make room before reaching the bag. If your loadout includes a safe pocket, that is the best place for the Sundial because it protects the quest item if the run ends badly. A full inventory can prevent you from taking the objective or force an unnecessary drop while enemies are nearby.

Expect traffic and a possible Arc Frigate
The Railyard is described as a high-traffic area where Raiders may appear. PC Gamer also warns that an Arc Frigate can be near the route. Treat the approach as a contested extraction run rather than a quiet scavenging stop: listen before climbing, check sightlines, and avoid lingering at the bag after you have secured it.
How to reach the camp from Pendola Pass
- Start at Pendola Pass. Approach the Railyard and look for the camp beneath it.
- Move to the western side. The access pipe is situated between the Railyard and the Transit Tunnel. A more precise description places the entrance in the Railyard’s southwest corner.
- Enter the drainage pipes. Follow the pipe passage into the camp. It leads upward toward the raised metal catwalks rather than depositing you on the ordinary ground-level floor.
- Reach the catwalk junction. Climb until you are in the middle or junction area of the walkways. The quest bag is located around this raised section.
- Search the highlighted yellow bag. Interact with the yellow duffle bag to collect the Equatorial Sundial. Put it in a safe pocket immediately if that option is available.
The guides also report that cutting through the ground-floor depot can reach the camp. They do not establish whether that alternative is faster or safer than the southwest pipe entrance, so choose it only when the depot is already clear or the pipe approach is blocked.
Finding the yellow duffle bag
Use the vertical layout as your landmark
Do not search only the depot floor. The identifying feature of the objective area is the network of raised metal catwalks. Once you arrive at the central connection between walkways, scan for the highlighted yellow container rather than opening every ordinary crate.
Confirm the item before moving on
The interaction should award the Equatorial Sundial. If the highlighted bag does not produce it, verify that you are in the Railyard Nomad Camp beneath the Railyard and that Clean Hands is active. The available guides do not document a second confirmed Sundial location inside the camp.
What to do with the Equatorial Sundial
Travel to the Old Town church tower
Collecting the Sundial is only the retrieval portion of Clean Hands. Carry it to the church tower in Old Town. The objective route requires climbing the tower’s spiral stairs and then using the zipline to reach the marked interaction area.
Read the marked railing
At the tower, interact with the marked railing. This completes the reading objective associated with the Sundial. The item must remain with you for the sequence; do not discard it after leaving the camp.

Extract through Pendola Pass
After interacting with the railing, leave the map with the Sundial. AllThingsHow describes calling the gondola through a radio beacon console and opening a pod to exit. Follow the extraction interface at Pendola Pass and remain alert until the extraction completes; reaching the tower does not by itself finish the run.

Route choice: southwest pipe or ground-floor depot
| Approach | What is documented | What is not established |
|---|---|---|
| Southwest drainage pipes | Entrance in the Railyard’s southwest corner; the pipes lead to raised catwalks and the camp’s central junction. | No published measurement of time, enemy density, or extraction success rate. |
| Ground-floor depot | Reported as another way to reach the camp. | No source comparison proving it is quicker, safer, or less exposed than the pipe route. |
The pipe route is the clearest navigation advice because it puts you close to the elevated objective area. The depot route is a situational alternative, not a proven upgrade. If Raiders or an Arc Frigate control the southwest approach, use the route that offers the better immediate cover and exit plan rather than assuming one path has a universal advantage.
Staying alive while carrying the quest item
Scout before climbing
Raised walkways can expose you from several angles. Pause at the pipe exit, listen for Raider movement, and look across the catwalk junction before committing to the climb. The camp’s high-traffic description means another player or NPC may arrive while you are searching.

Secure the Sundial first
Once the yellow bag opens, prioritize the quest item over optional containers. Place it in a safe pocket if possible, then decide whether the remaining route is worth additional searching. The available location coverage does not promise valuable bonus loot, so extra exposure has no documented reward.
Plan both legs of the objective
Clean Hands has three practical stages: obtain the Sundial, perform the church-tower interaction, and extract. A successful bag search is not a completed quest. Before leaving the camp, make sure you know how you will reach Old Town and where you will call the gondola at the end.
React to an Arc Frigate or Raiders
If an Arc Frigate is near the approach, wait for a safe opening or reroute through the depot. Against Raiders, avoid prolonged fights around the catwalks; the objective is an interaction and extraction, not a requirement to clear every enemy. Keep enough supplies and mobility for the church tower and the final pod.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What is not confirmed as camp loot
- No guide reviewed for this location gives a guaranteed weapon list.
- No repeatable table of valuables, armor, ammunition, or resource quantities is documented.
- No probability, spawn-rate, item-count, or fixed value is established for additional containers.
- The Sextant trinket, Shield Recharger, and Battered Paperback are reported as Clean Hands turn-in rewards, not items found in the yellow camp bag.
This distinction matters when deciding whether to make a second trip. The confirmed reason to visit is the Equatorial Sundial objective. Treat any other containers as ordinary run-dependent loot rather than guaranteed camp rewards.
Clean Hands rewards versus Railyard loot
AllThingsHow lists three rewards for turning in Clean Hands: a Sextant trinket, a Shield Recharger, and a Battered Paperback research item. Those rewards are granted for quest completion and should not be confused with the Sundial’s location or with loot generated inside the Nomad Camp.
| Item | Where it comes from | Role in the objective |
|---|---|---|
| Equatorial Sundial | Highlighted yellow bag on the camp’s raised catwalks | Quest item; carry it to the church tower and extract. |
| Sextant trinket | Clean Hands turn-in reward, according to AllThingsHow | Reward after completing the quest, not camp loot. |
| Shield Recharger | Clean Hands turn-in reward, according to AllThingsHow | Reward after completing the quest, not camp loot. |
| Battered Paperback | Clean Hands turn-in reward, according to AllThingsHow | Research-item reward, not an item in the yellow bag. |
How the wider reward system relates to this location
Embark Studios’ Live Update 1.33.0, dated June 16, 2026, says that Raiders can unlock rewards by earning Merits. XP earned by playing on any map is automatically converted into Merits, which unlock gameplay items, weapons, and Raider Tokens. That statement describes the broader reward system and does not establish a special Railyard Nomad Camp loot table.

The update’s event window ran from June 16 through July 27, 2026. It should therefore be read as historical event context, not as evidence that the yellow bag contains event rewards or that the camp has a permanent bonus inventory.
Fast checklist for a Clean Hands run
- Activate or verify the Clean Hands objective.
- Start from Pendola Pass and approach the Railyard.
- Keep an inventory slot free; use a safe pocket when available.
- Enter through the southwest drainage pipes, between the Railyard and Transit Tunnel, or use the depot only when that approach is more practical.
- Climb to the raised catwalk junction beneath the Railyard.
- Search the highlighted yellow duffle bag for the Equatorial Sundial.
- Leave the camp and travel to the Old Town church tower.
- Climb the spiral stairs, use the zipline, and interact with the marked railing.
- Return to Pendola Pass, call the gondola at the radio beacon console, open the pod, and extract with the Sundial.
Bottom line for the “what to loot” question
For the confirmed Clean Hands objective, loot one thing at Railyard Nomad Camp: the Equatorial Sundial in the highlighted yellow bag on the raised catwalks. The southwest drainage-pipe entrance is the most specifically described route. Afterward, complete the church-tower railing interaction and extract. Extra weapons or valuables may be possible as ordinary run loot, but no reliable source establishes them as guaranteed or repeatable camp rewards.
