A wide book-style foldable is two phones in one: a narrow device you use closed and a small tablet you use open. The right purchase is the one whose cover screen is comfortable for everyday typing, whose inner screen helps with your actual apps, and whose hinge, protection rating, software support, warranty and repair path fit your risk tolerance. Screen diagonal alone cannot tell you whether a foldable will suit you.
Start by judging both phone states
Every wide foldable asks you to accept compromises twice. Closed, it must behave like a dependable phone for calls, messages, payments, navigation and quick photos. Open, it should provide a genuinely useful workspace rather than a larger version of the same cramped interface. Hold and operate both states before you compare cameras, processors or storage.

A diagonal measurement describes only the distance from one corner to the opposite corner. It does not tell you the screen’s width, aspect ratio, keyboard shape, hinge position or how much of an app is visible. Two displays with similar diagonals can feel completely different in your hand.

Width and aspect ratio affect typing more than diagonal size
The cover display is the screen you will use most often for one-handed tasks. Check whether your thumb can reach the opposite side, whether the keyboard gives your fingers enough horizontal room, and whether buttons at the edges are easy to tap. A tall, narrow panel may be excellent for scrolling but force more mistakes when you type quickly.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
Samsung says the Galaxy Z Fold7 has a 6.5-inch cover display with a 21:9 aspect ratio. Its July 9, 2025 announcement describes it as “a wider screen with a new 21:9 aspect ratio.” That is a manufacturer specification and description, not an independent comfort test. Samsung’s 2025 fourth-quarter interim report says the cover grew from 6.3 inches at 22.1:9 on the Fold6 to 6.5 inches at 21:9 on the Fold7. You can verify the announced specification in Samsung’s official announcement and the year-to-year figures in its 2025 fourth-quarter report.
Test real typing, not just a launcher
Open a notes app, compose a long message, enter an address, edit a password and use voice-to-text. Test both portrait and landscape orientation. Look for:
- Accidental taps near the curved or hinged edges.
- A keyboard that is wide enough for two-thumb typing.
- Text that remains readable without increasing the system font to an uncomfortable size.
- Reliable fingerprint or face-unlock access while the phone is closed.
- One-handed reach to the notification shade, back gesture and frequently used controls.
If you often reply to messages while walking, commuting or carrying something, cover-screen ergonomics should outweigh a marginal camera or benchmark advantage. You can always open the phone for a long document; you cannot make a poorly proportioned cover screen disappear from every quick task.
Make sure the inner screen helps your apps
Inspect the shape, not only the 8-inch headline
An inner panel around eight inches can be excellent for reading, spreadsheets, drawing, maps and two-app layouts, but its proportions determine how much of each app you actually see. A very wide layout may show more columns in a spreadsheet; a taller layout may show more of a document. Ask a retailer to open the exact apps you use instead of relying on a demo wallpaper.
Samsung lists an 8-inch main display for the Galaxy Z Fold7. Google lists an 8-inch inner display for the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. HONOR lists a 7.95-inch inner display for the Magic V5. These are published product-page specifications, so the small numerical differences do not establish which panel is more useful. Check the exact aspect ratio, resolution, brightness modes and stylus compatibility for the regional model you would buy.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
Check app behavior in the open state
Use your own accounts or ask for demonstration versions of the following:
- Your email, calendar and document editor in split-screen mode.
- Video services with the controls hidden and visible.
- Banking, authentication and payment apps, including fingerprint prompts.
- Social and shopping apps that may letterbox or stretch on unusual aspect ratios.
- Games that need a stable touch area around the crease.
- Camera preview, photo editing and file-management tools.
Look for an option to choose which apps open full screen, which remain in a letterboxed window and which can use two panels. Check whether a task continues smoothly when you close the phone and whether the outer and inner screens preserve the same scroll position. Those behaviors are software decisions that a screen-size comparison cannot predict.

Compare folded size, open size and weight before buying
A wide foldable spends much of its life folded in a pocket, bag or car console. Compare its folded height, width, thickness and weight with your current phone. Also consider the open footprint on a desk or airplane tray. A few millimeters of extra thickness can matter more than a similar change in screen diagonal when the device is carried every day.
Obtain the figures for the exact country and storage variant. Dual-SIM hardware, radio bands, materials and regional components can change published dimensions or mass. The cited specifications for the Galaxy Z Fold7, Pixel 10 Pro Fold and Magic V5 establish their display sizes, but they do not provide a complete, directly comparable set of folded dimensions and weights for every market. Treat any retailer listing that lacks a model or region identifier cautiously.
Use a simple pocket-and-hand check
- Put the folded phone in the pocket or pouch you normally use.
- Sit, bend and walk with it for several minutes.
- Hold it closed in one hand and reach the top and far edge of the cover screen.
- Open it on the surface where you normally read or work.
- Repeat the test with the case you intend to use; case thickness changes both grip and pocket fit.
Treat hinge feel and crease visibility as hands-on questions
Marketing pages can describe a hinge design, but they cannot tell you whether a particular unit feels smooth, stays at useful angles or shows a distracting crease under your lighting. Inspect a display model from straight on and at an angle. Slowly open it with both hands, then use one hand only if the retailer permits it. Note any grinding, uneven resistance, lateral play or movement that changes as the hinge passes through its range.

Run a finger lightly across the crease only if the store allows handling. A visible or tactile crease is normal for many foldables, but its effect depends on your reading position, light sources and touch habits. Do not infer long-term reliability from a short demonstration. The supplied examples do not have independent, directly comparable crease measurements.
Understand what water and dust ratings actually mean
An IP code is a defined protection classification, not a promise that a folding phone is indestructible. The first digit addresses solids such as dust; the second addresses water under specified laboratory conditions. A rating does not automatically cover salt water, high-pressure spray, solvents, drops, a damaged seal or particles entering through a hinge.
Galaxy Z Fold7: read the regional wording
Samsung’s US product page and specification sheet describe the Galaxy Z Fold7 with IP48 water/dust protection language. Read the exact wording for your market at Samsung’s US product page and the specification sheet. Do not turn that classification into a general claim that the hinge is sealed against every particle or that liquid damage is covered by warranty.
Pixel 10 Pro Fold: IP68 is still conditional
Google’s August 21, 2025 announcement describes the Pixel 10 Pro Fold as having an all-new gearless hinge and IP68 water and dust resistance. The announcement is at Google’s product news page. “Most durable” is Google’s own superlative; it is not an independent ranking. Confirm the warranty exclusions and the conditions behind the IP rating before exposing the phone to water.
Magic V5: pay attention to the dust warning
HONOR’s UK product page lists the Magic V5 with a 6.43-inch external display, a 7.95-inch inner display and IP5X dust protection. The same page explicitly warns that IP5X permits a risk of dust intrusion and advises avoiding high-concentration dust and sand. It also says the hinge is built to withstand 500,000 folds. Those are HONOR’s product-page claims, not an independently verified service-life guarantee. Check the exact specification and availability in your target market at HONOR’s UK product page.

Fold-cycle numbers are laboratory claims, not a personal guarantee
HONOR’s 500,000-fold figure describes what the company says its Magic V5 hinge is built to withstand. It does not tell you how a phone will behave after years of pocket lint, temperature changes, drops, torsion, grit or a crease damaged by an impact. No independent, directly comparable fold-cycle testing across these named examples establishes a market-wide winner.
Ask the seller what the warranty covers if the hinge becomes loose, the inner screen develops a line, touch stops working near the fold or the phone no longer opens flat. Find out whether inspection, shipping and data recovery are included or charged separately. A high cycle count is useful context, but a clear repair process is more actionable when something goes wrong.
Check software support and multitasking details
Foldables depend heavily on software because the same app must adapt between two screen sizes. Before purchase, identify the promised operating-system and security-update period for the exact regional model, the date support begins and whether updates arrive through your carrier. Verify that the phone receives the accessibility, banking and authentication updates you need.
Test the features that make the inner screen worthwhile:
- Split-screen and floating-window controls.
- Drag-and-drop between compatible apps.
- Task continuity when moving from inner to cover display.
- Per-app screen-rotation and full-screen settings.
- Keyboard, stylus and controller support if relevant to your work or games.
- Backup and restore behavior after a screen or hinge repair.
Do not assume that an app’s tablet interface will be polished simply because the display is large. Read the app developer’s current support notes and test your highest-priority apps on the phone itself.

Compare the published examples without declaring a winner
The following table keeps the available figures separate from questions that require a local inspection or current seller documentation.
| Model | Cover or external display | Inner display | Published protection or durability statement | Still to verify before purchase |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 | 6.5 inches; 21:9 aspect ratio | 8 inches | Samsung US materials use IP48 water/dust protection language. | Folded dimensions, weight, crease behavior, local price, warranty and repair terms are not stated in the cited materials. |
| Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold | 6.4 inches | 8 inches | Google’s August 21, 2025 announcement describes an all-new gearless hinge and IP68 water and dust resistance. | Exact regional dimensions, weight, local price, warranty, repair path and independent long-term results are not stated in the cited materials. |
| HONOR Magic V5 | 6.43 inches | 7.95 inches | HONOR UK lists IP5X dust protection and says the hinge is built to withstand 500,000 folds; the page warns that dust intrusion remains possible. | Target-market availability, local dimensions, weight, price, warranty, repair options and independent cycle testing are not stated in the cited materials. |
The figures show why “wide foldable” is not a single specification. Cover width, aspect ratio, inner-screen shape, protection language and hinge claims all need separate checks. They do not establish that any one model is the best, most durable or best value.
Use this buying procedure in a shop or during the return window
- Identify the exact model. Record the country, storage tier, SIM configuration and model number on the box or settings page.
- Measure the closed experience. Type a paragraph, answer a call, use navigation and take a photo without opening the phone.
- Measure the open experience. Run your email, documents, video, maps and two-app workflow on the inner display.
- Inspect the hinge. Open and close it repeatedly at normal speed, check useful half-open angles and look for uneven resistance or play.
- Check the crease under your lighting. View white text, dark video and a map from several angles.
- Confirm protection limits. Read the exact IP wording, water exclusions and dust warnings for that region.
- Verify support. Get the software-update policy, warranty duration, authorized repair locations, screen replacement process and expected turnaround in writing.
- Calculate the complete cost. Include the phone, case, insurance if you choose it, taxes, financing charges and any deductible for accidental damage.
- Test after setup. Before the return period ends, restore your backup, sign in to critical apps, use both screens for several days and check charging, cameras, speakers, biometrics and cellular bands.
Match the design to your use case
For messaging and one-handed use
Prioritize cover-screen width, keyboard accuracy, weight and pocket comfort. A slightly smaller inner display is usually less important than a cover screen you do not avoid.

Prioritize the inner-screen proportions, split-screen behavior, brightness in your environment and continuity between screens. Confirm that your document and communication apps can share the display without unusable letterboxing.
For travel and outdoor use
Prioritize the exact IP classification, dust cautions, hinge protection, visibility in sunlight, repair availability where you travel and a warranty that remains valid across borders. Do not treat any rating as permission to use the phone in sand, surf or heavy spray.
For long-term ownership
Prioritize update commitments, authorized service, replacement-screen pricing, data-handling procedures during repair and the seller’s return policy. A manufacturer’s fold-cycle statement cannot substitute for these practical protections.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Buying by inner-screen diagonal alone: the cover screen is your everyday interface, and aspect ratio changes typing comfort.
- Assuming IP means invulnerable: ratings have defined conditions and do not eliminate hinge or particle risks.
- Comparing fold counts as if they were standardized: manufacturer test methods and conditions are not directly comparable here.
- Ignoring regional variants: dimensions, radios, SIM support, warranty and repair networks can differ by market.
- Trusting a display unit’s software setup: install or open the apps that matter to you and test continuity yourself.
- Leaving repair questions until after a failure: ask who performs the work, what it costs and how your data is handled before paying.
