The camera is built around high-resolution still photography, not video; the key buying questions are whether the full system cost fits, whether an XCD lens suits your work, and whether its autofocus and HDR conditions match your workflow.

Those are manufacturer specifications and claims, not an independent comparative test. Hasselblad specifies up to 10 stops of stabilization at the image center and 8 stops at the edges, measured with the XCD 3.5/120 Macro lens under CIPA standards. The company also says stabilization is up to eight times that of the original X2D 100C when capturing distant subjects. These figures are tied to the manufacturer’s stated conditions; they do not guarantee a sharp result for every handheld exposure or subject. Hasselblad’s specifications.

Internal storage and card expansion
The camera has a 1TB internal SSD and a CFexpress Type B slot for additional storage, according to Hasselblad’s 2025 specifications. A card is an optional expansion route rather than a stated requirement; plan for one if the internal capacity and your file-transfer routine do not meet your needs.
Autofocus compatibility depends on lens firmware and shutter choice
Hasselblad says AF-C requires compatible XCD lenses with current firmware and is unavailable when using the electronic shutter. Its FAQ names the 35–100E, 38V, 55V, 25V, 90V, 28P, and 75P as compatible lenses. If you are considering a used or older lens, verify its firmware and compatibility with the X2D II before buying. Because device and software support can change, check the current requirements if HDR display or editing is central to your workflow. Hasselblad’s FAQ also describes the X2D II as the first medium-format camera to support “true end-to-end HDR”; that is the manufacturer’s claim, not an independent industry finding. - Choose the lens deliberately by the field of view and role you actually need, rather than assuming the body alone is the full purchase.
- Check the workflow fit if you rely on continuous autofocus, electronic shutter use, HDR viewing or editing, or a pre-owned lens.
