The extras do not change which campaign you can play; your more consequential choice is whether Grace’s resource-focused horror or Leon’s combat-heavy approach better matches your tastes.

Capcom lists Resident Evil Requiem’s launch date as February 27, 2026. It is not an upcoming release, so listings that still describe it as a preorder or “coming soon” may be stale. The supported platforms are:

For PC, Capcom’s buying announcement identifies Steam and the Epic Games Store. Check the store page for operating-system, hardware and account requirements before purchase; the available material confirms the stores but does not establish one universal minimum-specification list.
Digital versus physical
Capcom says physical copies are sold through retailers, but it does not provide one exhaustive list of physical formats for every platform, territory or shop. A retailer page can therefore differ in important ways: a boxed copy may be unavailable in your market, a listing may be for a different console, or a “Deluxe” label may refer to a particular bundle rather than the same contents everywhere.
Digital purchases are tied to the platform account and store region shown at checkout. Physical buyers should verify the console printed on the box, whether the package contains a disc or game card, and whether the listed edition includes a separate download code. Do not assume a Switch 2, Xbox or PlayStation package is interchangeable with another platform.

Standard Edition: the straightforward choice
On the US PlayStation digital listing reviewed for this guide, Standard contains the game alone. That makes it the cleanest option if you care about the campaigns and core mechanics rather than alternate outfits, cosmetic weapon appearances or display packaging. It is also the least complicated purchase when you are unsure whether a regional Deluxe bundle contains the same items advertised elsewhere.
Deluxe Edition: what the Deluxe Kit actually adds
Capcom describes the Deluxe Kit as five costumes, four weapon skins, two charms, two screen filters, a custom sound pack and additional in-game files. These are add-on and primarily cosmetic or presentation-oriented items. They are not described as a separate story campaign or a different difficulty mode.
Before selecting Deluxe, open the platform’s itemized contents panel. Names, entitlement wording and delivery method can differ by store. Some bonuses may appear as a code, while others may unlock through an in-game menu after installation. If the listing does not clearly identify the Deluxe Kit, contact the retailer or platform support rather than relying on a product thumbnail.
Steelbook Deluxe: paying for the physical extras
The Steelbook Deluxe Edition includes the Deluxe contents, a steelbook case and a limited-edition lenticular card. Its value is therefore mostly physical and collectible: it is appropriate when the case and card matter to you, not when you are seeking additional campaign content.
Capcom does not establish worldwide stock or a single retailer list. Check that the seller is reputable, that the case is intended for your console, and that the listing explicitly names the lenticular card. A “steelbook” reference in a marketplace title is not enough if the package contents are not itemized.

Do not assume the preorder costume is included
Capcom announced Grace’s Apocalypse costume as a preorder offer. That was a time-limited offer attached to preorders; it should not be treated as guaranteed in a new Standard, Deluxe or Steelbook purchase. If the costume is important to you, look for an explicit statement in the current listing. Absence of that statement means you should assume it is not included.
Current price information: read the date and region
The US PlayStation Store page accessed October 13, 2026 displayed:
- Standard Edition: $69.99.
- Deluxe Edition: $55.99, reduced from $79.99.
- Displayed promotion end: October 22, 2026 at 06:59 UTC.
Those figures describe one US digital storefront snapshot and a time-limited promotion. They are not a universal MSRP, a permanent Deluxe price or a promise that another platform will match the discount. Taxes, currency conversion, console-store policies and local promotions can change the amount you see. Compare the final checkout total in your own region, and check whether a sale price is conditional on a subscription or other account status.
Gameplay: two campaigns with different priorities
The story follows Grace Ashcroft, an FBI analyst, and Leon S. Kennedy, a veteran agent. Their journeys are designed around different gameplay styles rather than being two versions of the same combat loop.
Grace Ashcroft: scarcity, analysis and risk management
Grace’s sections emphasize limited supplies, analyzing enemies and deciding whether to fight or flee. In practical terms, her route rewards attention to what you have, what an enemy can do and whether combat is worth the ammunition or other resources it consumes. Players who enjoy classic survival-horror pressure—searching, assessing threats and accepting that avoidance can be the smart move—should expect this side of the game to carry more weight.
Resource management is not just an inventory concern. The stated focus on enemy analysis means observation is part of the decision process: identify a threat, consider your available tools and choose between engagement and escape. The official description does not provide a fixed resource-count rule or a universal strategy, so treat the system as a reason to experiment rather than a promise that every encounter has one correct solution.
Leon S. Kennedy: firearms, melee and flexible equipment
Leon’s sections emphasize firearms, melee attacks, parries, enemy weapons and customizable equipment. This is the more overtly action-oriented side of the game. Players can respond at closer range, use defensive timing and work with a broader set of equipment choices than the deliberately constrained Grace sections suggest.
“Action-oriented” does not mean the survival-horror elements disappear. Leon’s campaign still sits inside a game that combines combat, investigations, puzzles and resource management. His tools give you more ways to answer a threat, while the surrounding investigation and puzzle work keeps the experience from being only a shooting gallery.

Investigations, puzzles and resource management
Across the game, the described activities include combat, investigations, puzzles and managing resources. Expect to alternate between examining environments, solving progression problems and deciding how to spend or conserve what you carry. That mixture is relevant when choosing an edition or platform: no Deluxe item is presented as a substitute for learning the game’s systems, and the physical Steelbook does not alter them.
First-person or third-person: choose your view
Both Grace’s and Leon’s stories can be played from a first-person or third-person perspective. You can therefore choose the camera style that best suits your comfort and preference without giving up either protagonist’s campaign.
- First-person: a closer, more enclosed viewpoint that many players prefer for immersion and horror tension.
- Third-person: an over-the-shoulder view that keeps more of the character and nearby space visible.
The perspective option does not make the protagonists identical. Grace still centers on scarcity and threat analysis, while Leon still centers on firearms, melee, parries, enemy weapons and customizable equipment. Choose the camera for presentation; choose the campaign for its underlying play style.

The US PS5 listing identifies one player, offline play, optional in-game purchases, Remote Play and PS5 Pro enhancement. These are details of that listing, not guarantees for every platform.

Content suitability and ratings
The cited US PlayStation page uses the descriptors Blood and Gore, Intense Violence and Strong Language. Ratings are assigned by region, so the symbols, age category and wording on your local store may differ. Check the rating panel before purchase, especially if the game is intended for a younger player or a shared household account.
“Optional in-game purchases” also appears on the PS5 listing. That label does not by itself describe the frequency, price or necessity of those purchases. It does indicate that you should review the store’s purchase controls and parental settings if other people use the account.

Grace Ashcroft amiibo
Capcom also announced a Grace Ashcroft amiibo planned for Summer 2026. Availability, pricing and regional distribution are not established here. If you want one, confirm that a retailer is offering the official product and note whether it is sold separately.
Nintendo Switch 2 Generation Pack
Capcom announced a Nintendo Switch 2 Generation Pack containing Resident Evil Requiem, Resident Evil 7 biohazard Gold Edition and Resident Evil Village Gold Edition. This is relevant if you want a multi-game series purchase rather than Requiem alone. Check the current listing for format, included versions, regional availability and whether the package is a physical set or a digital entitlement before comparing its value with an individual copy.
How to decide in five steps
- Select the platform. Choose PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2 or PC based on the hardware you own and where you want your license. On PC, verify whether Steam or the Epic Games Store best fits your account and library.
- Choose digital or physical. Digital is convenient and tied to the store account; physical availability and packaging vary by territory. For a boxed copy, verify the console, disc or game-card format and seller.
- Compare Standard with Deluxe. Buy Standard if you only need the game. Consider Deluxe if the five costumes, four weapon skins, two charms, two filters, sound pack and additional files are worth the local surcharge.
- Consider Steelbook Deluxe only for the collector value. Confirm that the case and lenticular card are explicitly listed and actually in stock. Do not pay a collector premium for an unverified marketplace description.
- Recheck checkout details. Confirm currency, taxes, sale expiry, rating descriptors, in-game-purchase notices and any preorder language. A past preorder bonus should not be assumed to carry over.
Common buying mistakes and how to avoid them
Buying for the wrong console generation
Resident Evil Requiem is listed for current-generation PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S hardware, as well as Nintendo Switch 2 and PC. A product title can be abbreviated or misleading on a marketplace. Match the platform logo and edition name to your hardware before ordering.

Assuming a preorder bonus is standard
Grace’s Apocalypse costume was tied to the preorder announcement. Current listings must explicitly include it before you count it among the contents.
Assuming every platform has the same features
Offline play, Remote Play, PS5 Pro enhancement and the other cited details come from one US PS5 listing. Read the exact listing for your platform rather than generalizing those features.
What the sales figures do—and do not—tell you
Capcom reported more than 183 million cumulative Resident Evil game sales as of December 31, 2025. That is a franchise-wide figure, not the number of Requiem copies sold.
Capcom also announced that Requiem sales exceeded 6 million units. The announcement wording does not provide a specific “as of” date for that tally in the available passage, so it should be treated as a reported milestone rather than a current, continuously updated total. Neither figure tells you which edition or platform is best for your needs; they are context about the series and game’s commercial reach.
Bottom-line buying framework
Start with the platform and format you can use, then buy the Standard Edition unless the Deluxe Kit’s cosmetic and presentation additions have clear value to you. Choose Steelbook Deluxe only when the physical case and lenticular card are part of the reason you are buying.
