Their strongest documented advantages are four included eartip sizes, up to 36 hours of total listening with the case when listening modes are off, and straightforward controls on either platform. The important qualifications are that fit is personal, battery figures are maximum claims, and the USB-C case cannot charge wirelessly.
Beats Studio Buds+ at a glance
The Studio Buds+ are Bluetooth in-ear wireless earbuds with a charging case. They offer active noise cancellation (ANC), Transparency mode, and an Off mode. A long press on either earbud changes listening modes after the controls are configured. Apple and Android users can pair them, make calls, use voice assistants, and access platform-specific tracking features.

Beats describes the four tips as supporting a comfortable acoustic seal and helping secure the earbuds. That is a product description, not an independent guarantee. Your ear shape, tip choice and insertion angle determine whether the buds stay put and isolate sound.

Why the seal matters
An in-ear earbud works best when the tip seals the ear canal without creating pressure. A poor seal can let external noise in, make ANC seem weak, reduce bass and allow the bud to loosen during movement. A tip that is too large may feel sore; one that is too small may leak sound or require you to push the earbud deeper than is comfortable.
#1 Best Overall
- BEATS’ CUSTOM ACOUSTIC PLATFORM delivers rich, immersive sound whether you’re listening to music or taking calls.
- HEAR WHAT YOU WANT with two distinct listening modes: personalized Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) and Transparency mode.
- MORE MUSIC, LESS CHARGING with up to 36 hours of listening time.
- ENHANCED COMPATIBILITY with one-touch pairing and a robust set of native Apple and Android features.
- FIND YOUR FIT with four pairs of silicone tip sizes to fit a wider range of ears. The tips create a comfortable seal for the best acoustic performance while keeping noise out.
A practical fitting procedure
- Start with the medium tips, which are installed in the package, and insert each earbud gently while twisting it into a stable position.
- Play spoken audio or music at a low volume. Check whether voices sound centered and bass is present without turning the volume up.
- If either bud feels loose or outside sound remains prominent, try the small or large tip on that ear. Your left and right ears may need different sizes.
- Try the XS tips if the smallest standard size still creates pressure. Walk, turn your head and open your jaw to check whether the seal breaks.
- Keep the size that seals comfortably for each ear. Do not judge fit only while sitting still; movement is where a marginal seal usually fails.
There is no evidence that one of the four sizes fits every ear shape. If you need replacements, choose listings that explicitly identify Studio Buds+ compatibility and specify the required size; generic tips can alter the seal or fail to attach securely.
Fit checks for calls and exercise
Test each ear independently rather than assuming both canals are the same. Speak a few sentences, chew, smile and turn your head. If one side repeatedly loosens, change only that side’s tip before changing both. A comfortable seal should not require painful pressure. During exercise, recheck the fit after perspiration because moisture and movement can change how securely a tip sits. The IPX4 rating does not turn a marginal fit into a secure sports fit, so stop and adjust the bud if it begins to work loose.
Battery life: understand the mode-dependent claims
Beats quotes two different maximums. With ANC and Transparency turned off, the earbuds are rated for up to nine hours on their own and up to 36 hours including the case. With ANC or Transparency active, the figures become up to six hours for the earbuds and up to 24 hours in total. The case figures represent three additional earbud charges in the manufacturer’s description.
| Listening setup | Earbuds alone | With charging case |
|---|---|---|
| ANC and Transparency off | Up to 9 hours | Up to 36 hours |
| ANC on or Transparency on | Up to 6 hours | Up to 24 hours |
“Up to” is important. Volume, Bluetooth conditions, calls, voice-assistant use, temperature, software behavior and battery age can reduce actual runtime. A reviewer at TechRadar reported about six hours from the earbuds and 24 hours total with ANC on, describing that result as roughly average among earbuds. That experience is independent editorial context, not a controlled laboratory comparison and not a promise for every owner.
What the numbers mean for a day
The six-hour ANC ceiling can cover many commutes or a work block, but it is not the same as uninterrupted all-day listening. If you use Transparency instead of ANC, Beats places it in the same up-to-six-hour category, so do not assume Transparency preserves the nine-hour figure. Conversely, a quiet-room listener who leaves both modes off may approach the higher claim. Calls and voice-assistant sessions also use power, so a mixed day will not map exactly to a continuous music test.
Fast charging for short gaps
When the battery is low, Beats says five minutes in the case provides up to one hour of playback. The result depends on the same usage conditions as the larger estimates. It is useful before a commute, workout or call, but it does not replace regularly charging the case.
How to maximize runtime
- Turn both ANC and Transparency off when you do not need either mode. Apple Support explicitly says this maximizes battery life.
- Keep the earbuds in the case between listening sessions so they recharge instead of idling outside the case.
- Use the five-minute top-up when necessary, then charge the case from a USB-C source at a convenient time.
- Expect less than the headline maximum if you listen loudly or make frequent calls.
- Check the case and earbud charge before leaving; the total figure assumes the case itself has stored energy for the additional charges.
Noise cancellation and Transparency mode
What ANC does
ANC is intended to reduce unwanted environmental sound. Beats says the system adapts to personal fit, so the quality of the eartip seal affects the result. Low, continuous sounds such as transport or ventilation are the kind of noise ANC is designed to address; the sources do not establish a universal performance level for every voice, frequency or environment.

What Transparency does
Transparency mode lets outside sound through so you can remain aware of people, announcements and traffic without removing the earbuds. It is useful when you need awareness, but it is not the same as removing the earbuds and should not be treated as a safety guarantee around hazards.
Rank #2
- SOUND ENGINEERED FOR EVERYDAY: Custom acoustic architecture delivers big, full-range Beats sound in the smallest earbud case Beats has ever built.
- 18 HOURS OF PLAY, MINUTES TO RECHARGE: Up to 18 hours of listening time on a single charge. Fast Fuel gives you 1 hour of playback from just 5 minutes on the charger.
- EXCEPTIONAL CALL QUALITY: Each earbud is equipped with a leading-edge microphone powered by an advanced noise-learning algorithm to help deliver exceptional call quality. Enjoy extended range with fewer dropouts thanks to industry-leading Class 1 Bluetooth.
- DISTORTION-FREE SOUND, DIRECT TO YOUR EAR: Dual-layer, axial-aligned drivers minimize distortion and aim sound precisely into the ear canal for high-fidelity clarity.
- FOUR SIZES, ONE PERFECT FIT: Four ear tip sizes (XS, S, M, L) and laser-cut vents relieve pressure, so Solo Buds sit comfortably through a full day of wear.
Switching modes
Apple Support documents changing modes by pressing and holding either earbud. After enabling Off as an additional option, the long press can cycle through ANC, Transparency and Off. If you do not want all three choices, configure the control for the modes you actually use. Turning modes off is also the battery-saving setting.
TechRadar reviewers said the buds blocked much of the noise in a relatively loud gym and described the sound as crisp and edgy. Those are reviewer impressions in one environment, not standardized measurements or proof that the earbuds outperform another model in every situation.
Common ANC mistakes
If ANC suddenly seems weak, check the seal before assuming the electronics have failed. A partially detached tip, different left and right sizes or an earbud that has rotated can all admit sound. Switching briefly to Transparency and back to ANC can confirm which mode is active, but it cannot compensate for an ill-fitting tip. For announcements, remove one or both earbuds when full awareness is essential.
Apple and Android compatibility
Studio Buds+ pair with Apple and Android devices. Apple Support documents controls, calls and voice-assistant use on both types of phone, while Beats lists one-touch pairing, automatic switching, voice assistance and tracking among the native features. Integration is platform-specific, so verify the feature you rely on rather than assuming every Apple behavior is identical on Android.
| Need | Apple device | Android device |
|---|---|---|
| Pairing and basic listening | Supported | Supported |
| Device tracking | Find My | Google Find My Device |
| Calls and voice assistant | Documented by Apple Support | Documented by Apple Support |
| Automatic switching and other native features | Available as listed by Beats, subject to device and software behavior | Available as listed by Beats, subject to device and software behavior |
For an Apple household, the buds provide the expected Beats integration without requiring an Apple-only connection. For Android owners, the important point is that pairing and core controls are supported, while tracking uses Google’s service rather than Apple’s. Phone model, operating-system version and account settings can affect how those services appear.
What to verify before purchase
Confirm that the phone you plan to use has Bluetooth enabled and that you are signed in to the account required by its tracking service. If you regularly move between platforms, test pairing on each one and check which device receives automatic switching. Core playback does not mean every ecosystem convenience is identical. Updates to phone software can also change menus or permissions, so allow the required access during setup rather than troubleshooting it during a trip.
Initial setup and everyday controls
- Charge the case and place both earbuds inside.
- Open the case near your phone. Follow the on-screen pairing prompt when it appears; otherwise open Bluetooth settings and select the Studio Buds+ entry.
- Complete any requested device or account permissions needed for tracking, voice assistance or automatic switching.
- Insert the earbuds and test a call, music playback and the long-press control on each side.
- Configure the listening-mode cycle so it includes ANC, Transparency and, if desired, Off.
Because long-press behavior is central to switching modes, test it before relying on the earbuds in a commute or meeting. If the press is not recognized, reposition the earbud, try again with a deliberate hold and check the device’s Beats controls. A weak seal cannot be fixed in software; change the tip size first.
Charging, water resistance and what is in the box
The package contains the two earbuds, charging case, four eartip sizes, a USB-C-to-USB-C charging cable and a warranty card. The USB-C power adapter is sold separately. The case does not support wireless charging, so a cable is required whenever you recharge it.

The included cable is USB-C to USB-C, so check that your existing charger has a compatible USB-C output. If your setup uses another connector, you may need a different cable or an adapter; neither is a reason to expect wireless charging from this case. A spare cable is an optional convenience, not a required accessory, because one is already included.
Apple lists the earbuds as IPX4-rated. This means resistance to sweat and splashing under the rating’s conditions, not protection from submersion, swimming or deliberate water jets. Dry the earbuds before placing them in the case if they become wet, and keep the charging contacts clean. The IPX4 designation does not make the case waterproof.
Who should buy Studio Buds+
- People who switch between Apple and Android: both platforms support pairing and core earbud use, with platform-specific tracking.
- Commuters and travelers: ANC can reduce environmental sound, while Transparency provides an awareness option without removing the buds.
- Listeners who struggle with standard tip ranges: XS through L gives four sizes to test in each ear.
- Users who value cable charging: the included USB-C-to-USB-C cable works with a compatible power source.
- People who need occasional quick power: the five-minute charge claim is useful for a short listening session.
Who should consider another design
- Anyone requiring a guaranteed fit: no source can promise that the four tips will stay comfortable or secure in every ear.
- People who insist on wireless case charging: the case must be charged through USB-C.
- Users expecting all-day ANC at the maximum quoted runtime: the ANC/Transparency estimate is up to six hours per charge, and real use varies.
- Swimmers or people needing waterproofing: IPX4 is not a swimming or submersion rating.
- Buyers seeking a proven competitor ranking: available evidence does not provide a current, apples-to-apples comparison across ANC, fit, battery and price.
How to compare an alternative without relying on headline claims
If you are deciding between Studio Buds+ and another model, compare the same conditions rather than mixing figures. Check the number and shape of included tips, whether wings or other retention aids are available, and the stated runtime with ANC enabled. Then examine how each platform handles pairing, automatic switching, voice assistants and tracking.

| Comparison question | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Which tip sizes or retention pieces are included? | Physical stability and acoustic seal depend on your ears, not the product name. |
| What is the quoted runtime with ANC on? | ANC-off figures can overstate the time you will get in a noisy commute. |
| Can the case charge wirelessly? | This determines whether your existing charging setup will work. |
| Which tracking service works on your phone? | Find My and Google Find My Device are separate ecosystems. |
| What does the water-resistance rating actually cover? | Sweat resistance is not the same as waterproofing. |
| What is included in the box? | A missing adapter or cable can add cost and inconvenience. |
Use current retailer pricing and inventory when making the final decision because those details change. The documented product specifications do not establish a permanent price, color availability or software behavior for every future phone. If an alternative includes wireless case charging, a power adapter or extra retention pieces, include those differences in the total value rather than comparing the earbuds alone.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Costs and sensible accessories
The earbuds include the cable and four tip sizes, so most buyers do not need an accessory immediately. Budget separately for a USB-C power adapter if you do not already have a compatible one. A replacement or spare cable is sensible only if you need one for another location. Replacement tips are a maintenance purchase: select a listing that names Studio Buds+ compatibility and the exact size, rather than assuming every similarly shaped Beats tip will attach.
Check the current retailer listing for price, stock, color and return terms. Those details can change independently of the documented specifications. A return option is especially useful for an in-ear product because comfort and stability cannot be confirmed from a product page.
Purchase checklist
- Confirm that your phone supports Bluetooth and that you are comfortable using the platform’s tracking service.
- Decide whether you need ANC, Transparency, both, or mostly the battery-saving Off mode.
- Plan to test all four eartip sizes, including different sizes in the left and right ears if necessary.
- Budget for a USB-C power adapter if you do not already have a compatible one.
- Accept that the case cannot charge wirelessly.
- Treat nine, six, 36 and 24 hours as maximum claims tied to specific listening modes.
- Remember that IPX4 covers sweat and splashes, not submersion.
- If buying replacement tips, verify Studio Buds+ model compatibility and size on the specific listing.
- Check the retailer’s current price, inventory and return policy before ordering.
Verdict
Buy Beats Studio Buds+ when your priorities are compact in-ear ANC earbuds, broad Apple-and-Android support and flexible tip sizing. The practical compromises are individual fit, lower quoted runtime with ANC or Transparency enabled, cable-only case charging and IPX4 rather than waterproof protection. Those trade-offs are clear enough to make the decision without treating the manufacturer’s maximum figures as guarantees.
