Samsung’s 2025 The Frame and Frame Pro, TCL NXTFRAME/A300, and Hisense CanvasTV all use manufacturer-described matte finishes, but no common independent test establishes a glare winner across brands. Treat matte as a design intention, not a guarantee. The exact model number, country, frame bundle, software version, and subscription terms can change the real cost and experience.

What an art TV changes compared with an ordinary TV
An art TV combines a conventional smart-TV platform with a low-distraction display mode. When you are not watching a program, it can show paintings, photography, ambient visuals, or your own images. A thin profile, a frame-like bezel, and a wall mount are intended to make the screen look more like wall décor.

That convenience does not make picture quality, ports, operating-system support, or installation unimportant. You will still watch films, use streaming apps, connect game consoles, and live with the screen in every lighting condition. The sensible buying order is therefore:

- Measure the room and choose a suitable screen size.
- Check the screen’s reflection treatment in the position where it will hang.
- Price the complete frame and mounting hardware, not only the television.
- Separate included art, personal-photo tools, AI images, and paid catalog access.
- Confirm the model’s ordinary TV specifications and regional software support.
Matte screens: what they do and what they do not prove
Matte and anti-reflection are surface treatments
A matte surface is designed to diffuse ambient light rather than present reflections as a sharp mirror image. Samsung calls the treatment Anti-Reflection with Matte Display on its 2025 The Frame and Frame Pro lines; TCL describes a nanocrystal matte screen on the A300W and a matte anti-reflective screen for NXTFRAME; Hisense calls the CanvasTV treatment Hi-Matte. These are manufacturer descriptions, linked in the Samsung 2025 lineup announcement, TCL A300W page, and Hisense CanvasTV material.
The treatment can make reflections less visually distracting, but it cannot change the position of a window, lamp, or bright wall. Reflection handling depends on the particular panel, the angle of the light, the angle of your seating, and the picture shown. The available manufacturer material does not provide a controlled, cross-brand glare measurement, so it does not support naming one brand as best in every room.
How to evaluate a screen in your own room
- Identify the brightest windows and lamps visible from the intended viewing position.
- Ask a retailer to show the exact size and model with the screen displaying a dark scene, a bright scene, and an art image. A showroom sample of another size or year is not a reliable substitute.
- Stand at your normal viewing positions, not only directly in front of the panel. Look for distracting bright shapes and for whether the art still looks natural.
- Repeat the check at the time of day when your room is brightest. A screen that looks perfect under showroom lighting may behave differently beside your windows.
- Confirm the return and exchange terms before ordering if you cannot view the exact model locally.
Do not interpret “matte” as “glare-free.” It is a specification describing the surface design, while your room determines whether the result is acceptable.

Installation details that affect the finished look
- Wall structure: A flush mount still needs a wall capable of carrying the television and any separate connection hardware. Locate studs or use a mounting system rated for the wall type.
- Power and signal paths: Decide where the outlet, streaming devices, game consoles, and cable box will sit before drilling. A separate connection box can reduce visible cables only if it can be placed and routed conveniently.
- Clearance: Measure the television, frame, and mount together. Baseboard trim, wall texture, and a nearby shelf can prevent a truly flush appearance.
- Frame depth and alignment: A magnetic or clip-on frame must be compatible with the exact diagonal size and model year. Do not assume that a frame for one generation fits the next.
- Viewing height: Hang the screen for comfortable TV viewing first. Art mode should not force an awkward neck angle for everyday programs.
Art access: free content, your photos, AI, and subscriptions
“Art included” can describe very different services. Before buying, identify which of these four categories you actually want:

Samsung The Frame and Frame Pro
Samsung’s 2025 U.S. announcement describes Art Store Streams as a no-cost selection. The U.S. 55-inch LS03FA page says the full Art Store requires a subscription, while also describing 30 refreshed artworks each month through Art Store Streams and more than 70 complimentary ambient-content items over a year. Samsung’s current highlights page advertises more than 5,000 Art Store works; that is a Samsung catalog claim, not an independently audited or permanent count. Check the Art Store highlights page and LS03FA page for current terms.
The same LS03FA page states that a Samsung account and Wi-Fi are required for the relevant art features. A subscription therefore affects more than the artwork catalog: account setup and an internet connection are part of the intended service experience.
TCL NXTFRAME and A300
TCL describes a complimentary Art Library, personal photo-gallery modes, and AI-generated art. Its A300W page describes an Art Gallery and pre-generated AI images, while the North American launch explains that the AI art is pre-generated rather than created in real time. That distinction matters if you expect to type a prompt and receive an immediate image. See the A300W product page and NXTFRAME announcement. The cited pages do not establish a universal paid-catalog price; confirm any current service terms for your region.
Hisense CanvasTV
Hisense describes free artworks and an Art Mode for CanvasTV. Its materials also describe frame choices, but the free-art description does not make the library interchangeable with another manufacturer’s catalog in size, licensing, curation, or update schedule. Confirm what the current regional model can access before treating “free art” as a substitute for a large paid service. The relevant manufacturer material is the CanvasTV document.

LG Gallery+
LG Gallery+ is a software service rather than the same dedicated hardware proposition as a framed art television. LG’s U.S. page says it supports LG TVs released in 2025 or later running webOS 25 or newer, although some models may gain support through a software update. The page lists more than 5,000 content items, a one-month free trial, and a full-service price of $5 per month in the United States. It also describes personal photos, generative AI, music, and briefing features. Eligibility and price can change, so check the current Gallery+ page for your TV and region.

The table below keeps manufacturer claims separate from conclusions. “Not stated” means the cited material does not establish a comparable value.

Remember that the display is still a television
Choose size from viewing distance, not wall ambition
Measure the distance from the main seat to the screen and compare that with the manufacturer’s size guidance for the model. A larger framed display can look convincing as wall décor yet be uncomfortable for close-up television viewing. Conversely, a small screen may look lost on a large wall even if its art mode is attractive.
Check picture and gaming specifications separately
Art mode does not tell you whether a television is suitable for your everyday sources. Read the exact model sheet for resolution, refresh behavior, HDR support, input count, HDMI features, audio outputs, and any gaming modes you need. If you use a console, verify that every required feature is available on the size and regional SKU you plan to buy; do not infer it from a product family name.
Plan connected devices and cable routing
List the devices that will remain connected: console, disc player, soundbar, antenna, set-top box, or network equipment. A separate connection box can simplify the visible portion of the installation, but it still needs ventilation, power, and a path for its cable or wireless link. Confirm where the ports are before choosing a flush mount.

Check software support and account requirements
Art catalogs and gallery services are software features. Verify the operating-system version, account requirement, Wi-Fi requirement, app availability, and update policy for the exact television. A service that works on a 2025 model may not be available on an older television with a similar design.

- Write down the room constraints. Record wall width, viewing distance, window positions, lamp locations, outlet placement, and whether the wall can accept a flush mount.
- Shortlist by size and normal-TV use. Remove models that lack the inputs, gaming functions, audio connections, or screen size you need before considering art catalogs.
- Inspect the exact matte screen. View dark and bright images from your normal seats at the room’s brightest time. Ask for the precise model number.
- Inventory the frame. Read the listing’s “in the box” section. Add the price of a separate bezel, shipping, and any required mounting accessory.
- Map the art sources. Mark each feature as free curated art, personal photos, pre-generated AI, or paid licensed catalog. Do not count these categories as equivalent.
- Calculate recurring service cost. Record the current price, trial length, renewal terms, and regional currency for any subscription. Samsung’s full Art Store price is not stated on the cited product page; LG lists $5 per month in the United States, subject to change.
- Verify software eligibility. Confirm account, Wi-Fi, operating-system, and model-year requirements before assuming a service will work.
- Plan the installation. Mark stud locations, power and signal routes, mount clearance, and the position of any One Connect or equivalent box.
- Confirm the regional SKU. Save the model code, screen size, included frame finish, included mount, and return terms from the seller’s current listing.
- Recheck the total before ordering. Compare television, bezel, mount, delivery, installation, and recurring art-service costs as one purchase rather than comparing television sticker prices alone.
Common mistakes and how to avoid them
Assuming every matte screen performs identically
Matte is not a standardized cross-brand glare score. Compare the actual panel in your lighting and keep expectations realistic about bright windows and lamps.
Assuming the decorative frame is included
Samsung’s cited 55-inch LS03FA page explicitly separates customizable bezels from the television. TCL and Hisense describe included or supplied frames in particular materials, but regional bundles can differ. Verify the SKU before placing the order.
Confusing a free tier with the full catalog
Samsung’s no-cost Art Store Streams are not the same as its subscription-required full Art Store. Likewise, a complimentary TCL or free Hisense library should not be judged by the size or licensing model of another company’s service.

TCL’s cited material says its AI art is pre-generated. If interactive prompting is important, verify the workflow instead of assuming that “AI art” means real-time generation.

Buying for the wall while ignoring television use
Check everyday viewing comfort, source compatibility, gaming features, and audio connections. The most attractive frame cannot compensate for a screen that does not suit your main use.
Ignoring model-year and country differences
Screen classes, frame colors, mounts, software support, and catalog availability are regional. Samsung’s 2025 U.S. lineup, TCL’s North American launch, Hisense’s U.S. announcements, and LG’s U.S. Gallery+ page should not be treated as universal specifications.
Who should choose which approach?
Choose Samsung’s ecosystem when the catalog matters most
The Frame is the clearest fit for someone who specifically wants Samsung’s Art Store ecosystem, a framed design, and the convenience of a One Connect installation. Budget for the separate bezel on models where Samsung lists it, and decide whether the limited no-cost stream is enough or whether the full catalog justifies a subscription.

NXTFRAME/A300 is worth examining if you want the manufacturer-described matte treatment, a magnetic light-wood frame in the North American launch bundle, a flush mount, personal-photo modes, and complimentary art without starting with a paid catalog. Confirm the exact regional package and remember that the AI images are pre-generated.
Consider Hisense when free Art Mode and larger sizes fit the room
CanvasTV combines a Hi-Matte display, free artworks, frame choices, and, in the 2025 U.S. announcement, 75- and 85-inch family members. Verify whether your exact size includes the teak frame and ultra-slim mount before comparing its total cost with another option.
Consider LG Gallery+ if you already own a compatible LG television
Gallery+ can add art, photos, generative AI, music, and briefings through supported 2025-or-later LG TVs on webOS 25 or newer. It is a service decision rather than proof that a particular LG panel has the same matte or framed hardware as a dedicated art TV.
Availability and information that can change
Art catalogs, subscription prices, free trials, software compatibility, frame inventory, and regional bundles are not permanent specifications. The manufacturer pages cited here were current for the information available in October 2026, but check the seller and manufacturer immediately before purchase. Keep a screenshot or copy of the exact listing that states the model code, included accessories, art-service terms, and return conditions.
