Start with a business task, not a robot demonstration. Define the work, the current process and the measurable outcome; verify that the exact platform is available to your organization and region; then run a site pilot with agreed thresholds for completed work, errors, human intervention, uptime, throughput and fault recovery. Approve a purchase only when the complete deployment cost, application-specific safety case and written support responsibilities make sense against the process you use today.
1. Define the job before you compare robots
A humanoid form is not a business requirement. It may help a machine use spaces, tools or workflows designed for people, but the shape alone says nothing about whether it can deliver useful output at your facility. Write a one-page task specification before inviting a vendor demonstration.

Describe the work in observable terms
- Task: State the exact activity, such as moving totes from a conveyor to a pallet, replenishing a line-side location or performing a defined inspection sequence.
- Starting and ending conditions: Identify where the robot starts, what it receives, where the work is delivered and what counts as complete.
- Normal variation: List package sizes, labels, lighting, floor conditions, obstructions, people, vehicles and schedule changes that occur during an ordinary shift.
- Business outcome: Express the objective as useful work, quality, labor capacity, safety improvement, schedule coverage or another measurable result.
- Current baseline: Record the present cycle time, output, error rate, staffing, downtime, consumables and supervision required. Without this baseline, a pilot can look impressive while failing to improve the operation.
Choose acceptance measures before the demo
Agree internally on the measures and pass thresholds before a supplier shows a scripted run. At minimum, define completed tasks per shift, error rate, human interventions, time unavailable, throughput and recovery from faults. Decide whether remote operation counts as autonomous performance, and record it separately rather than combining both modes.

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
For example, a palletizing pilot might require 95 percent of assigned cycles completed without a person touching the robot, fewer than two placement errors per 1,000 units, a specified output per hour and recovery from a jam within an agreed time. Those numbers are examples of a buyer-defined test, not general humanoid-robot benchmarks; set them from your own process and risk tolerance.

2. Check whether the specific system is actually available to you
Announcements, demonstrations and broad claims of customer demand do not establish that a platform can be ordered, deployed or supported for your organization. Availability is a procurement fact that can vary by region, customer, configuration and access model.
Get written confirmation
Ask the supplier to confirm, in writing:
- Whether your legal entity and facility location are eligible.
- Whether the offer is a purchase, lease, rental, managed service, pilot placement or another access model.
- Which robot configuration will be supplied, including end effectors, batteries, sensors and software versions.
- The expected delivery, commissioning and site-acceptance dates.
- What production capacity, contractual milestones or customer-priority rules could affect those dates.
- Who will provide local installation, training, maintenance and emergency response.
Require the confirmation to name the contracting party and the exact site, not merely a statement that the product exists. If a supplier cannot identify the commercial path, treat the platform as an evaluation candidate rather than a purchase-ready option.
Separate demand claims from supply evidence
Agility Robotics announced more than $300 million in multi-year customer orders as of May 2026, subject to certain contractual milestones. That figure is a manufacturer-reported order value, not a unit price, a delivery guarantee or proof that a buyer will achieve a return on investment. Use such announcements as context, then obtain your own availability, delivery and service commitments.

3. Test the robot in the intended workflow
A laboratory demonstration can establish that a system performed a task under demonstration conditions. It cannot establish that the same system will work in your aisles, on your floor, around your staff or with your software. A site pilot should reproduce normal operating conditions and expose the exceptions that consume human time.

Set the pilot boundary
- Select one task and one location. Avoid a broad “automate the warehouse” trial. Choose a bounded workflow with a clear baseline and an owner.
- Document normal operating conditions. Include the actual route, lighting, floor transitions, network coverage, traffic, loading pattern, shift length and interaction with people and equipment.
- Freeze the configuration under test. Record the robot model, hardware revision, software release, tools, payload, battery arrangement and any remote-operator console.
- Agree on pass thresholds. Set targets for completed work, quality, interventions, downtime, throughput and recovery before the first run.
- Run enough operating time to capture variation. Include ordinary replenishment, shift changes, planned stops and foreseeable exceptions rather than only a short uninterrupted demonstration.
- Log every event. Timestamp autonomous cycles, errors, stops, interventions, remote assistance, charging, maintenance and periods when the system was unavailable.
- Review results against the baseline. Calculate useful output and total human effort, not just the robot’s movement or nominal cycle time.
Measure autonomy honestly
Distinguish at least four modes in the log: fully autonomous work, local human intervention, remote assistance and manual recovery or reset. A robot that completes a cycle only after frequent remote commands may still have a place in a managed service, but it should not be reported as equivalent to unattended operation.
Use recovery as a primary test
Fault recovery often determines whether a system is economical. Intentionally test safe, representative interruptions such as a misplaced item, a blocked route, a dropped object, a network interruption or a low-battery stop. Record the time to detect the condition, the time to resume, who performed the recovery and whether the robot or the workflow required a reset. Do not create hazards merely to provoke faults; use scenarios approved by the site’s safety owner.
4. Build a complete deployment-cost model
The robot’s quoted price is only one line in the business case. Ask for a written scope that separates one-time, recurring and usage-dependent costs, then compare the cost per useful unit of work with the existing process. The available evidence does not establish a dependable vendor price or total cost for a particular buyer, so a supplier-specific quotation and site assessment are essential.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsRequest these cost categories
| Cost area | Questions to put in the scope |
|---|---|
| Robot and standard equipment | Which hardware, batteries, chargers, tools, sensors and software licenses are included? |
| Integration | Who connects the robot to conveyors, warehouse or manufacturing systems, fleet management, identity controls and site networks? |
| Site work | Are floor changes, charging space, barriers, network upgrades, signage or workflow redesign required? |
| Operations | What staffing is needed for supervision, remote assistance, replenishment, charging, cleaning and exception handling? |
| Support and maintenance | What are the service fees, spare-parts terms, preventive-maintenance schedule and software-update policy? |
| Training and changeover | Who trains operators, supervisors, maintenance staff and emergency responders, and how is lost production during commissioning handled? |
| Exit or expansion | What happens if the pilot fails, the service ends or additional robots are added? |
Calculate cost per useful output
Use the same denominator for the current process and the robot option: completed, accepted units; handled cases; inspected items; or another output that the business values. Include labor for supervision and intervention, downtime, energy, maintenance, integration amortization and site-specific work. If the robot’s output requires a person to correct most exceptions, count that effort rather than presenting the machine’s nominal throughput.

- [Dont Hesite to Order] 24 hours customer services and professional technology team are standing by
Model at least three cases: expected performance, a conservative case with more interventions or downtime, and a failure-to-scale case in which the pilot works only with unusually favorable conditions. State which assumptions come from the supplier and which come from your own baseline.
5. Require an application-specific safety case
Safety cannot be established by the word “humanoid,” a general brochure or a reference to a developing standard. The relevant question is whether the actual robot, task, facility and human-interaction pattern have been assessed and controlled.
Ask for the safety evidence
- A task- and site-specific risk assessment covering normal operation, foreseeable misuse, maintenance, charging, recovery and emergencies.
- The hazard controls for motion, pinch and crush points, falls, dropped loads, unexpected starts, loss of communications and software or sensor faults.
- Operating limits for speed, payload, reach, terrain, people nearby and restricted areas.
- Validation records for protective stops, emergency stops, access controls, warning systems and restart procedures.
- Clear allocation of responsibility for risk controls between the supplier, integrator and facility operator.
- Training requirements and written procedures for operators, bystanders, maintenance staff and emergency responders.
Interpret standards references correctly
Agility says it contributes to ANSI/A3 TR R15.108, described in its September 2026 announcement as a technical report under development for dynamically stable industrial mobile robots, and to ISO 25785-1, described by the company as the first international safety standard for the humanoid category. Participation in standards work does not show that a particular robot or installation is certified, compliant or safe for your application.

That distinction is a reason to demand an installation-level assessment, not a reason to assume that existing industrial-robot paperwork automatically covers a humanoid deployment.

6. Make integration and support contractual
System performance depends on deployment and workflow integration as much as on the hardware. A technically capable robot can become an operational bottleneck if a site cannot recover it, obtain parts or connect it to the process.
Define integration ownership
Identify the party responsible for each interface: physical handoff points, software APIs, network access, authentication, data retention, fleet scheduling, safety signals and production-system changes. Specify who tests the interface, who approves changes and who restores service after an update. Require a documented rollback path for software or configuration changes that disrupt the workflow.
Put service levels in the pilot or purchase
Write down response and restoration targets for safety incidents, robot faults, network failures and routine service. Clarify support hours, remote-diagnostic access, on-site escalation, spare-part availability, preventive maintenance, battery replacement, firmware updates and end-of-life treatment. State whether the supplier or your staff performs each recovery action, and what happens when the named contact is unavailable.

7. Compare alternatives on one protocol
Do not rank platforms from unrelated demonstrations. Give every candidate the same task definition, site conditions, test duration, logging rules and pass thresholds. The following dimensions cover the decisions that affect a real deployment.
- Task performance: completed work, quality and error rate under your operating conditions.
- Human involvement: local interventions, remote assistance, supervision hours and recovery labor.
- Availability in practice: regional eligibility, access model, configuration and delivery commitment for your organization.
- Uptime and recovery: time available for useful work, charging requirements, fault frequency and time to resume.
- Physical fit: payload, reach, access and mobility only where those characteristics affect the defined task.
- Safety evidence: application-specific assessment, controls, training and responsibility allocation.
- Integration burden: site changes, software interfaces, network requirements and commissioning effort.
- Support: maintenance, parts, response, escalation and update policies.
- Economics: complete deployment cost and cost per accepted unit of output against the current process.
The available sources do not provide a reliable, like-for-like cross-vendor scorecard. A common buyer protocol is therefore more useful than a league table assembled from marketing claims.
8. Put published demonstrations in context
Public deployment figures can help you form questions, but they are not independent validation at your site. Augusta Dynamics reported figures from a Humanoid and Siemens test in Erlangen in April 2026 and from an AgiBot run with Longcheer in June 2026, attributing the results to the companies’ own reporting. Treat the operator, location, date and stated conditions as part of each claim; do not transfer the result to another facility without a comparable test.
Similarly, Agility’s September 2026 announcement says the Digit 5 leg design enables repeated lifting of up to 50 pounds. That is a manufacturer claim. Ask what “repeated” means, which configuration and end effector were used, how the load was presented, and what duty cycle, speed, stability and safety limits applied. Confirm that the payload definition matches your own object, posture and frequency requirements.
9. Decide whether to expand, retest or stop
Make the decision rule before the pilot starts. Expansion should require evidence that the robot meets the agreed task, quality, intervention, availability, recovery, safety and cost thresholds under normal conditions. A retest is appropriate when a correctable integration defect or site-preparation issue prevented a fair trial. Stop when the core task is outside the system’s capability, the safety case cannot be completed, support responsibilities remain unclear or the conservative cost case is worse than the existing process.
Keep an evidence packet
- Signed task definition and baseline measurements.
- Robot configuration and software version used in the trial.
- Shift-by-shift logs of output, quality, interventions, faults, downtime and recovery.
- Site requirements, integration changes and unresolved exceptions.
- Application-specific risk assessment, operating procedures and training records.
- Itemized quotation, assumptions, service levels and exit terms.
- Decision record showing which threshold was met, missed or waived and who approved the result.
10. Buyer checklist
- Have we named one task, one site and one measurable business outcome?
- Did we document the current process and its cost, quality, throughput and staffing baseline?
- Are pass thresholds for work completed, errors, interventions, downtime, throughput and recovery written before the demonstration?
- Has the supplier confirmed regional availability, access model, configuration and delivery for our organization?
- Will the pilot reproduce normal conditions, variation, people, traffic, network coverage and shift length?
- Are autonomous work, local intervention, remote assistance and manual recovery logged separately?
- Have we requested every integration, site, operating, support and maintenance cost?
- Do we have a written risk assessment for this robot, task, facility and interaction pattern?
- Are emergency procedures, training and ownership of risk controls explicit?
- Are response, restoration, parts, updates, escalation and exit terms contractual?
- What evidence will trigger expansion, another test or cancellation?
Bottom line
Buy a humanoid robot only when it has passed a site-specific business test, not when its demonstration is persuasive. The defensible sequence is task definition, availability confirmation, controlled pilot, complete cost model, application-level safety review and written support commitments. Until those pieces are documented, you have a technology prospect—not a justified business purchase.
