1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsUse leftover red, green and purple Halloween candy in Disney Dreamlight Valley for three things: finish any remaining candy-related Event Duties, give candy to villagers for Trick-or-Treat objectives, and craft the four Halloween Town decorations. Candy is not only a food item. It is also the event currency for those recipes, so keep a balanced supply until you have checked your duties and decided which furniture you want.
The 2026 Trick-or-Treat event runs from October 14 through October 31, 2026. The official announcement confirms that “Candy can be eaten or gifted to complete Event Duties.” It does not confirm whether unused candy is deleted, converted, sold or retained after October 31, so avoid assuming that saving it will have a particular post-event result.

What leftover Halloween candy is used for
There are three candy colors in the 2026 event: red, purple and green. You collect them from Candy Bowls in the Plaza, then choose whether to consume them, give them away or spend them in the crafting menu. Your best choice depends on what remains unfinished in the Village and Event Duties menu, whether you need friendship progress, and whether you want permanent Halloween furniture.
Eat candy to finish an Event Duty
If an Event Duty asks you to eat Halloween candy, select a piece from your inventory and use the normal food action. Candy-related duties are separate from ordinary cooking recipes, so eating a piece directly is what advances the objective. Check the duty counter before consuming a large stock: if the required number is already complete, those pieces may be more useful for gifting or crafting.

Gift candy for Trick-or-Treat progress
The official event description specifically allows candy to be gifted for Event Duties. Give the required pieces to villagers through the regular gift interaction when the Trick-or-Treat objective is active. This is the practical option when you still need the gifting requirement or want the normal friendship increase associated with giving an item. The 2026 event also adds daily trick-or-treat interactions at lit Jack-o’-Lanterns outside the homes of Mickey Mouse, WALL•E, Daisy, Stitch, Mike Wazowski and Jack Skellington; use those interactions when they are available instead of treating every candy as food.
Craft event decorations
Extra candy is a crafting material for four Halloween Town decorations. These items remain as furniture after you place them, making crafting the durable use for candy once your Event Duties are complete. Recipes require all three colors, so spending one color heavily can leave you unable to make a decoration even if your total candy count looks high.
How much candy you can collect during the event
The 2026 spawn schedule gives you a predictable way to build a reserve. From October 14 through October 30, two Candy Bowls of each color appear every 24 hours. On October 31, two bowls of each color appear every hour. Each bowl provides two candies of its corresponding color.

| October 14–30, 2026 | Two every 24 hours | Four per color per 24-hour spawn cycle |
| October 31, 2026 | Two every hour | Four per color per hourly spawn cycle |
A maximum of five bowls of each color can be present in the Valley at once. If you leave bowls uncollected, new ones can stop appearing when that color reaches the cap. Collecting regularly is therefore important, especially on October 31 when the spawn interval changes to hourly. The official details are in Disney Dreamlight Valley’s 2026 Trick-or-Treat announcement.
What to do first when you have a pile of candy
- Open the Village and Event Duties menu. Look for any objective that asks you to eat or gift candy, and note the exact number still required.
- Use candy for unfinished eating objectives. Eat only the amount needed to complete the counter, unless you deliberately want to clear inventory space.
- Gift candy for unfinished Trick-or-Treat objectives. Give the required pieces to villagers, and use the lit Jack-o’-Lantern house interactions for the 2026 daily trick-or-treat activity.
- Count your three colors separately. Before crafting, check red, green and purple totals rather than relying on the combined item count.
- Craft the decorations you want. Start with the recipe that matches your available balance; the recipes consume all three colors in equal quantities.
- Check Mickey’s Halloween Candy Bowl. If its recipe is not already unlocked, look for the in-game mail that provides it, then claim the message before assuming the item is unavailable.
This order prevents a common mistake: eating or gifting a color that you later need for a furniture recipe. It also makes sure a remaining duty is not overlooked before the event window closes.

Halloween Town decoration recipes
All four listed Halloween Town recipes use equal amounts of red, green and purple candy. The table shows the complete cost per item.
| Decoration | Red candy | Green candy | Purple candy | Total candy |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Halloween Town Fence | 1 | 1 | 1 | 3 |
| Halloween Town Gravestone | 2 | 2 | 2 | 6 |
| Halloween Town Graveyard Statue | 3 | 3 | 3 | 9 |
| Halloween Town Mausoleum | 5 | 5 | 5 | 15 |
Choose recipes by your color balance
The Halloween Town Fence is the cheapest listed recipe, at one piece of each color. It is useful when your stock is uneven or you want to spend a small remainder. The Mausoleum is the most expensive, requiring five red, five green and five purple candies, so reserve at least five of every color before selecting it. The Gravestone and Graveyard Statue provide intermediate targets at two and three of each color.

Because every recipe has a 1:1:1 ratio, the number of complete decorations you can make is limited by your least-common color. For example, six red, four green and eight purple candies support four Fences at most, not six, because green runs out first. The same rule applies to larger pieces: four of each color are enough for one Mausoleum only if you have five of each, so do not spend down to four while planning that recipe.
What happens when you craft
Crafting consumes the specified candy immediately and creates the furniture item in your inventory. You can then place it through the normal furniture-placement interface. The decorations are the permanent-use option described for the event; eating and gifting primarily serve duty completion and the related rewards.
How the Candy Bowls and daily activity work
Three bowls, three colors
Candy Bowls appear in the Plaza in red, purple and green variants. Each bowl gives two candies of its own color, rather than a random mix. This makes it possible to plan for a recipe if you collect all colors consistently.

The five-bowl limit
Only five bowls of each color can be present in the Valley at one time. The limit applies to bowls, not individual candy pieces. Since each bowl contains two candies, an untouched color can represent up to ten candies on the ground before additional bowls of that color are blocked by the cap. Collect bowls before attempting to optimize your hourly or daily spawns.
October 31’s faster schedule
On October 31, two bowls of each color appear every hour rather than every 24 hours. If you are short on one color near the deadline, check the Plaza repeatedly during the day and collect bowls as they arrive. The five-bowl cap still matters: leaving previous bowls in place can prevent the next hourly set from appearing.
Lit Jack-o’-Lantern interactions
The 2026 event adds daily trick-or-treat interactions at lit Jack-o’-Lanterns outside six homes: Mickey Mouse, WALL•E, Daisy, Stitch, Mike Wazowski and Jack Skellington. These interactions are separate from simply eating candy. Visit the lit pumpkins when the daily activity is available and use the prompted interaction to advance the event’s trick-or-treat progress.
Eating versus gifting versus crafting: which option is best?
| Option | Best when | What you spend | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| Eat candy | An eating Event Duty is unfinished | The number of pieces required by the duty | Advances the eating objective and its reward |
| Gift candy | A gifting or Trick-or-Treat duty is unfinished, or you want friendship progress | The pieces given to villagers | Advances the gifting objective and applies the normal gift interaction |
| Craft decorations | Your duties are complete and you want furniture | Equal red, green and purple amounts per recipe | Creates permanent Halloween Town furniture |
Use the event end date as a tiebreaker. If October 31 is close and a duty remains, complete that duty before crafting. If all duties are finished and you have at least one of every color, crafting is the only option that turns candy into a lasting decoration. If your colors are unbalanced, hold the surplus while you collect the missing color rather than spending the majority color on eating or gifts without a specific objective.

Mickey’s Halloween Candy Bowl is also craftable during the event. Players who do not already have its recipe are told that it will be provided through in-game mail. Open your mailbox, claim the message and then check the crafting menu again. If the recipe does not appear immediately, close the mail screen and reopen the crafting interface after claiming it; do not spend candy trying to substitute another recipe.

The event announcement identifies the Candy Bowl as an additional craftable item but does not provide a candy-cost breakdown for it in the published details. Treat the four Halloween Town recipes above as the confirmed cost table, and verify the displayed in-game recipe before gathering materials for Mickey’s bowl.
Can you keep leftover candy after October 31?
There is no confirmed universal answer. The 2026 and 2025 event announcements do not state whether unused candy is deleted, converted into another item, sold, or retained after October 31. The 2023 Enchanted Adventure update describes the candy activity as limited-time and tied to Dreamlight Duties, but it does not establish a rule that applies to every later event version.
For that reason, treat October 31 as the practical deadline for duties and crafting. Complete all candy objectives, collect any furniture you want, and avoid making plans that depend on a post-event inventory conversion. If Gameloft publishes a version-specific end-of-event notice, follow that notice rather than relying on assumptions from an earlier year. The 2025 announcement is available at Disney Dreamlight Valley’s 2025 Trick-or-Treat event page.
Common problems and fixes
A color is missing from the Plaza
Check whether five bowls of that color are already present somewhere in the Valley. Collect the existing bowls, then wait for the next scheduled spawn. During October 14–30, the schedule is daily; on October 31, it is hourly.
You cannot complete a decoration
Compare your inventory with the recipe’s per-color requirement. Every listed Halloween Town decoration needs the same number of red, green and purple candies. The least-stocked color determines whether the craft button can be used.
An Event Duty did not advance
Confirm that you performed the requested action. Eating candy advances an eating objective; handing candy to a villager advances a gifting objective. A lit Jack-o’-Lantern house interaction is a separate daily trick-or-treat activity and may not substitute for a duty that explicitly asks you to eat or gift items.
The Candy Bowl recipe is absent
Check in-game mail for the message that supplies the recipe to players who do not have it. Claim the message, then return to the crafting menu and search for Mickey’s Halloween Candy Bowl by name.
Quick Recap
A practical end-of-event checklist
- Review every remaining item in the Village and Event Duties menu.
- Eat only the candy needed for unfinished eating objectives.
- Gift the required pieces and complete available lit Jack-o’-Lantern interactions.
- Keep red, green and purple counts visible while choosing furniture.
- Craft the Mausoleum only when you can spare five of each color.
- Use the Fence, Gravestone or Graveyard Statue for smaller balanced leftovers.
- Claim Mickey’s Halloween Candy Bowl mail if its recipe is missing.
- Finish your plan by October 31 because the game’s post-event treatment of unused candy is not specified.
