First determine whether it appears on the television’s own menus and across more than one input. If it is limited to one channel, streaming service, HDMI device or cable, fix that source instead. If the mark remains everywhere, run the model-appropriate Pixel Cleaning (also called Pixel Refresher) procedure once as LG directs, then contact LG support or an authorized technician if it persists. Pixel Cleaning is maintenance, not a guaranteed way to revive a physically inactive pixel.
Confirm that the mark belongs to the TV
Do not request a panel repair based on one app or one connected device. A broadcast, network stream, HDMI cable or external player can create a dot or other picture artifact that resembles a panel defect.

Check the TV’s own picture
- Open the television’s settings menu and look at several menu screens.
- Start a built-in app or another picture source that does not use the suspected external device.
- Compare the mark with a different HDMI input, if available.
- Note whether the dot stays at exactly the same physical location on the screen.
If the mark is visible on the menus and on built-in content as well as on external sources, the panel becomes more likely as the cause. This still does not establish warranty eligibility or guarantee that the pixel is physically dead.

Isolate a channel, service or HDMI device
When the spot appears only on one channel or streaming service, LG identifies the broadcast or network signal as a likely cause. When it appears only with one HDMI source, reconnect that HDMI cable, select another input and power-cycle the external device. A mark that disappears when the source, cable or service changes should be troubleshot as a signal problem rather than treated as a panel failure.

Record the symptom before changing settings
Write down the exact TV model, serial number, purchase or delivery date, input names and the screens on which the mark appears. Take a clear photograph showing the whole screen and a closer image showing the dot. Record whether it is always present, changes color, or disappears on a particular source. This information gives support a reproducible description and prevents a source-specific glitch from being mistaken for a hardware defect.
Use the built-in Pixel Cleaning feature
LG calls the maintenance function Pixel Cleaning on newer sets and Pixel Refresher on some earlier webOS versions. It is built into the television; no disc, download, cleaner or external “pixel fixer” is required. Menu labels can vary by exact model, so use the owner’s manual if the route below does not match what you see.

Start one cycle using the correct route
- Finish the source checks and save your symptom notes and photos.
- Open the menu path for your model year, or follow the equivalent path in the model’s manual.
- Select Pixel Cleaning or Pixel Refresher and read the on-screen warning before confirming.
- Let the television complete the operation without unplugging it or interrupting power.
- After the cycle finishes, inspect the same menus, built-in content and inputs you used for the original comparison.
LG says the television can run Pixel Cleaning automatically while it is off. Turn the set off with the remote, leave it connected to power and allow its maintenance cycle to run. Do not use the wall switch, power strip switch or unplug the TV immediately after viewing if you want that automatic process to occur.
LG’s guidance does not promise that repeatedly launching manual cycles will repair a dead pixel. Treat the feature as the prescribed maintenance and diagnostic step, not as a cure to repeat indefinitely. If the same dot remains after the appropriate cycle and source checks, move to service rather than cycling the panel over and over.

What to do when the pixel remains
Contact LG support or a qualified technician
A persistent mark that appears on menus, built-in content and multiple inputs should be assessed by LG support or an authorized technician. Provide the model and serial number, the purchase or delivery date, your photos, the inputs tested, and the result of Pixel Cleaning. Keep the original sales invoice available; LG’s U.S. limited-warranty terms call for it when requesting warranty service.
Do not promise yourself a panel replacement
A service request does not automatically mean a panel exchange. The technician must determine whether the symptom is a covered defect under the warranty that applies to your model, market and purchase. The available LG warranty language says a small number of pixels may not function normally within the product’s specifications, while also providing repair or replacement for defects that are covered. The cited documents do not establish one pixel-count threshold that applies to every OLED model or every country.

How LG OLED warranty coverage works
Warranty decisions depend on four details: the exact model, where it was purchased and used, the original purchaser, and the purchase date. The U.S. documents discussed here apply only to listed products bought and used in the United States by the original purchaser. They are not a universal policy for all LG OLED televisions.

The example above is for one model and should not be applied to another set without checking its supplied warranty. Terms can change by model and market. Ask LG to assess the exact serial number and purchase documentation before assuming that one visible pixel is covered or excluded.
What the one-in-a-million figure does—and does not—mean
LG USA Support has published a general TV explanation saying approximately one pixel per million (1 PPM) may appear as a fine inactive dot and that such dots do not affect product performance and reliability. The same explanation describes television displays broadly and is not an OLED-specific acceptable-defect threshold or a warranty rule. It should not be used to calculate whether your particular panel qualifies for repair.
That general explanation also says a display may contain approximately two million to six million pixels across TV models. The number gives scale only; it does not make a visible dot harmless, prove that a panel meets its warranty specification, or show that Pixel Cleaning will restore it.
Choose the next action from the symptom pattern

Fixes that are not supported for a confirmed OLED defect
- Screen cleaners: A liquid or cloth can clean the surface but cannot reactivate an OLED subpixel. Follow the TV manual’s cleaning instructions if the mark is surface dirt, but do not treat cleaner as panel repair.
- “Pixel fixer” videos and flashing screens: LG’s cited guidance does not recommend online videos as a repair for a physically inactive OLED pixel.
- Generic external repair kits or software: The relevant maintenance function is already in the TV. An external product cannot establish warranty coverage or replace a panel.
- Pressing or rubbing the screen: Physical pressure can damage the panel and is not a supported troubleshooting step.
- Unplugging during maintenance: Interrupting a cycle can prevent it from completing. Leave the set connected to power and use the remote to turn it off.
Prepare for a productive service call
- Read the model label and copy the full model and serial numbers exactly.
- Locate the original invoice or other purchase record and note the purchase or delivery date.
- Photograph the mark in a normal picture and on a plain, bright screen, without pressing the panel.
- List every source tested: TV menus, built-in apps, broadcast channels and HDMI inputs.
- Describe whether the dot is constant, intermittent, colored or black, and whether it stays in one physical location.
- State which Pixel Cleaning or Pixel Refresher menu path you used and when the cycle completed.
- Ask support to apply the warranty for the exact model and market rather than relying on a general pixel-count assumption.
This record lets the technician distinguish a source artifact from a panel symptom and decide whether the applicable warranty provides inspection, repair, replacement or no covered remedy.
Bottom line
Verify the source first, then use LG’s built-in Pixel Cleaning or Pixel Refresher according to the TV’s model year. Keep the set plugged in and turn it off with the remote so automatic maintenance can run. If a dot remains on menus and across multiple inputs, stop experimenting with cleaners or repeated “fixer” videos and give LG the model, serial number, purchase record and photos for a warranty or service assessment. No single-pixel rule applies to every LG OLED or every country.
