Pause before sharing it, save the exact track or video, and separate three questions: Is the artist presented as an AI-generated identity? Was AI disclosed as part of the music’s creation? Does the song make a false, deceptive, impersonating, or dangerous claim? Those are different issues. Use the platform’s recommendation feedback to see less of it, report a concrete policy concern through the current reporting route, and verify any political or emergency claim against an authoritative source.
A synthetic voice or an AI-looking artist is not automatically propaganda. Conversely, a song can make a deceptive claim without carrying an AI label. The steps below help you identify what is actually established and give Spotify or YouTube enough context to review it.

1. Preserve the evidence before reacting
Recommendations can change, tracks can be edited, and a playlist may later disappear. Capture the information that a reviewer would need while it is still visible.
Save the relevant links and details
- Copy the URL for the track, artist profile, playlist, video, or channel.
- Note the date and time, the screen where it appeared (such as Discover Weekly, Autoplay, search, or a home-page recommendation), and the account or region if relevant.
- Record the exact lyric, title, description, spoken statement, or visual claim that concerns you. A general impression such as “this sounds like propaganda” is less useful than the precise sentence being asserted.
- Keep a screenshot for context, but do not repost the material with an unverified accusation attached to it.
Preserving the original wording matters because a reviewer assesses substance and context, not just the fact that generative tools may have been involved.

2. Ask three separate questions
Work through these questions independently. A “yes” to one does not answer the others.
Does the profile represent an AI-generated person?
Spotify’s AI Persona badge identifies an artist whose public identity represents a photorealistic, AI-generated human. It is an identity label, not a declaration that every song on the profile was generated by AI.
Was AI used in creating the music?
Spotify’s music-AI credits describe disclosed creative contributions, such as AI involvement in vocals or other parts of a recording. Credits depend on disclosure through participating providers and distributors. Spotify explicitly says that a missing credit does not prove that no AI was used. A real musician may use an AI tool without qualifying for an AI Persona badge.

Examine what the work says or depicts. Possible concerns include impersonating a real artist or public figure, presenting a fabricated event as fact, giving false voting instructions, or encouraging a dangerous act. “AI-generated” and “propaganda” are not interchangeable findings; the concrete claim and its likely harm are what make a report actionable.
3. Read Spotify’s AI signals correctly
What the AI Persona badge means
The badge is designed to make an AI-generated artist identity visible on supported artist-profile and search surfaces. The rollout is gradual, so the absence of a badge is not conclusive. Treat it as a positive signal when present, not as a test that certifies every unbadged artist as human.

Spotify says music from AI Personas is excluded from editorial and personalized recommendations unless a listener intentionally engages with the artist, for example by following them. That statement applies to artists identified as AI Personas; it should not be generalized to every track that used an AI-assisted instrument, voice, or production feature.
Check credits without treating them as a detector
Open the song’s credits where available and look for disclosed AI contributions. A credit can tell you what a participating provider reported, but it does not establish whether the lyrics are true, whether the message is political, or whether the use was authorized. Conversely, no credit is not evidence of human-only production because the system relies on disclosure.

Spotify’s 2025 announcement on protections for artists, songwriters, and producers states: “Vocal impersonation is only allowed in music on Spotify when the impersonated artist has authorized the usage.” If a recording appears to copy a recognizable singer without authorization, include that specific concern in your report rather than relying only on the word “AI.”
Read the platform’s current explanations in Spotify’s AI Persona announcement and its AI-protections announcement, since labels and supported locations can change.
4. Decide whether the content is deceptive or dangerous
Context matters under Spotify’s rules
Spotify’s dangerous and deceptive content guidance says assessment considers the substance and context, including whether a creator is reporting on a harmful narrative or endorsing it. Motivation and the risk of harm also matter. A song discussing a conspiracy, quoting a politician, or criticizing a government is not automatically prohibited; a work that falsely impersonates someone or urges imminent violence presents a different risk.

Describe the observable behavior: “the chorus claims that polling places are closed tomorrow,” “the cover and voice present the singer as an existing artist,” or “the description urges listeners to attack a named person.” Avoid asserting an unverified motive when you can report the exact content instead.
Political and news-related speech is not automatically banned
Spotify allows political or news-related discourse subject to its Platform Rules. Its elections-integrity guidance says political advertisements in covered markets and placements must clearly disclose synthetic or manipulated media depicting real or realistic-looking people or events. That advertising requirement is not a blanket rule that every political song must carry an AI label.
Verify the factual claim independently
Check election dates, polling instructions, candidate statements, casualty reports, and other time-sensitive assertions against the relevant election authority, government notice, court record, or other primary source. Compare the exact jurisdiction and date: a true instruction for one country or election can be false elsewhere. If a message suggests an immediate physical threat, contact an appropriate local emergency or public-safety channel; a platform report alone may not reach people who are at risk.
5. Stop getting similar recommendations
Use the feedback control currently shown in the app
When you simply want less of a track, artist, playlist, or recommendation, use Spotify’s current hide, dislike, or recommendation-feedback control where it appears. Labels and menu locations can differ by app version, account, and recommendation surface, so follow the wording displayed on your device rather than a fixed set of instructions copied from an older interface.
Use feedback on the individual item that caused the problem. A report about a false claim and a request to stop recommendations serve different purposes: feedback changes what you are shown, while a policy report gives the platform a reason to review the content itself.

Do not amplify the recommendation accidentally
Avoid repeatedly playing, saving, sharing, or commenting on a track merely to document that you dislike it. Preserve one copy of the link and your notes, then use the feedback or reporting route. If you intentionally follow an artist identified as an AI Persona, Spotify’s stated exception means that music may be treated differently from unsolicited personalized recommendations.
6. Report a specific concern on Spotify
What to include
- Paste the saved track, artist, playlist, or profile link.
- Identify the exact lyric, title, description, voice, image, or instruction at issue.
- Explain the category that best fits: unauthorized impersonation, a false factual claim presented as fact, deceptive identity, encouragement of dangerous conduct, or another Platform Rules concern.
- State what you verified and where uncertainty remains. For example, distinguish “the voice resembles a known singer” from “the singer authorized this use,” which you may not be able to establish.
- Include the date, recommendation surface, and screenshots if the current form permits attachments.
Use Spotify’s live Report content on Spotify page or the reporting option currently provided in the app. The available form and categories can change; the official material does not establish a permanent category named “AI-generated propaganda,” so choose the closest accurate reason rather than forcing that label.
What Spotify may do
Spotify says enforcement can include restricting a piece of content’s recommendation discoverability, adding an advisory, or removing the content, depending on its substance, context, motivation, and risk of harm. A report is a request for review, not a guarantee of removal. Include enough detail for the reviewer to evaluate the specific item instead of submitting a broad allegation about AI music in general.

YouTube’s labels describe a different layer of the media. Its creator guidance requires disclosure when AI-generated music is the main focus of a video. Creators make that disclosure in YouTube Studio, and YouTube may add labels automatically in some cases. Repeated failure to disclose can lead to a manually applied label, removal, or consequences for participation in the YouTube Partner Programme.
YouTube’s music-partner metadata workflow separately supports three values: Fully Gen AI, Partly Gen AI, and No Gen AI. These values are supplied through the partner workflow, not presented as a universal listener-side detector. A missing value is unknown unless YouTube can determine the status through other signals.

Read the current creator requirements in YouTube’s “Disclose Gen AI usage for music content” guidance and the broader “Disclosing use of GenAI content” guidance. If a video appears to violate a YouTube policy, report it through the current flow and select the closest truthful reason. The cited guidance does not establish a dedicated listener category called “AI-generated propaganda.”
8. A practical decision tree
If the concern is only that the music sounds synthetic
Do not label it propaganda on that basis. Check for an AI Persona badge and disclosed credits, note that both systems are incomplete, and use recommendation feedback if you do not want similar music.
If a real artist appears to be impersonated
Save the track and profile links, identify the copied voice or identity, and report unauthorized impersonation. On Spotify, include the authorization concern because the company says vocal impersonation is allowed only when the impersonated artist authorized it.
If the song makes a factual or election claim
Copy the exact claim, check it against the responsible election authority or primary record, and report the deceptive content if the statement is false or materially misleading. Do not describe an advertising disclosure rule as proof that every political song must be labeled.
If the message encourages immediate harm
Preserve the evidence and report it, but also contact the appropriate local emergency or public-safety authority when there is a credible, immediate threat. Platform moderation may not provide a rapid safety response.
