Check Raspberry Pi’s approved resellers for the exact model and RAM you need before paying a markup. If the price still does not work, consider an older or lower-memory Pi only if it can handle your workload; for a different board or a mini PC, first verify software, peripherals and the full system cost. Raspberry Pi’s US manufacturer prices for 2GB boards were $67.50 for Pi 4 and $77.50 for Pi 5 as of October 1, 2026—not guaranteed local retail prices or evidence of local stock.
Start with approved resellers
Search Raspberry Pi’s approved reseller directory for your country, then check listings for the precise board generation and memory size. Compare the delivered total, including tax, shipping, power supply, case, storage and any adapters you need. Availability changes by region and over time; a listing or snapshot does not establish broader stock conditions.

Raspberry Pi says its approved partners follow published maximum prices and warns that unauthorized sellers may inflate prices or misrepresent products. In its October 1, 2026 announcement, co-founder and CEO Eben Upton wrote: “As always, make sure you’re buying from one of our Raspberry Pi Approved Resellers.” Verify the directory and the seller’s exact listing when you buy.
Understand the dated price changes
In its October 1, 2026 US price update, Raspberry Pi said the 2GB Pi 4 and 2GB Pi 5 each rose by $12.50, to $67.50 and $77.50 respectively. The company said 1GB Pi 4 and Pi 5 prices were unchanged in that update. These are manufacturer prices in US dollars, not a promise of retail price, tax-inclusive cost or stock in another country. See Raspberry Pi’s October 2026 price announcement.
In a separate February 2, 2026 announcement, Raspberry Pi reported increases of $10 for 2GB products, $15 for 4GB, $30 for 8GB and $60 for 16GB, attributing them to sharply rising memory costs. The company said some parts had more than doubled over the previous quarter; that is the company’s report about that period, not an independently verified market-wide statistic. Do not treat either announcement as a forecast of future retail prices.
For context only, Raspberry Pi announced a $45 launch price for the 1GB Pi 5 in December 2025. That is a historical launch price, not the current price of a 2GB board.

Decide whether a cheaper or older Pi will work
Before paying for more memory than you need, check the operating system and applications you plan to run. A lower-memory model or older board can be a sensible fit for a lightweight project, but it is not automatically equivalent in performance or capacity. Raspberry Pi specifically suggests considering older models such as the Pi 3B, 3A+ and 3B+ where the requirements allow.

- Confirm that the board’s processing performance, ports and storage options suit the project.
- For a GPIO or HAT project, verify the required pins and peripherals rather than assuming a different model behaves identically.
Consider another single-board computer only if the project can adapt
Orange Pi 5 is one possible alternative when its particular features suit the workload. A September 2026 comparison describes it as offering more computing capability, an NPU and onboard NVMe, and says its 40-pin header is Pi-compatible. Those points do not make it a drop-in replacement: the comparison says Raspberry Pi OS does not run on it and that some Raspberry Pi-specific libraries, including Picamera2, do not work.

- 【More Connectors】There are two USB 3.0 ports(5Gbps simultaneously) and two USB 2.0 ports, which triple total bandwidth ,support any combination of up to two cameras or displays. Peak SD card performance is doubled through support for the SDR104 high-speed mode. It provides a smooth desktop experience for you. Offer Gigabit Ethernet and a PCIe interface, along with dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0/BLE wireless capability. The RasTech Pi 5 Kit use the new 27W 5.1V 5A USB-C power connector.
- 【 Support Dual 4Kp60 Display 】Each of the two microHDMI sockets can control a 4K display at 60 Hertz, now support HDR, offering super HD video for media streaming projects. RPi 5 is the first RPi model that comes with a PCI Express port (PCIe 2.0 x1 with 500 MB/s) to attach SSDs (requires separate M.2 HAT).
- 【 Excellent Chips And Applications】Pi 5 is a full-size Pi computer using silicon built in-house at Pi. The RP1 “southbridge” provides the bulk of the I/O capabilities for Pi 5. Pi 5 is more friendly and convenient in the development of Internet of Things, Web development, machine identification, automatic control and other electronic equipment applications and network.
- 【 Faster CPU, Better GPU 】 Pi 5 features a Broadcom BCM2712 64-bit quad-core Arm Cortex-A76 processor running at 2.4GHz, it delivers a 2–3× increase in CPU performance relative to RaspberryPi 4. The 800MHz VideoCore VII GPU is compatible to OpenGL ES 3.1 and Vulkan 1.2, substantial uplift in graphics performance. Pi 5 Offers lightning-fast CPU speed, a PCI Express interface, a Real Time Clock (RTC) and a power button and runs significantly cooler than Pi 4.
Before buying, check the exact Orange Pi variant, supported operating-system image, software and camera libraries, and the electrical and functional compatibility of the specific HAT or peripheral. A matching header shape alone does not establish compatibility. The comparison is secondary editorial coverage, not a manufacturer guarantee.
A September 2026 comparison also found that none of its three featured SBC alternatives cost less than a 4GB Pi 5 in that snapshot; it noted Orange Pi 5’s extra compute features and a different GPIO pinout on the Odroid N2+. Its prices mixed Amazon and manufacturer listings, so they are not a current or universal ranking. Compare dated, like-for-like complete configurations instead.

For a server, compare a mini PC if GPIO is unnecessary
If the job is Docker, Home Assistant, Proxmox or Nextcloud and does not need GPIO, an x86 mini PC—such as an Intel N100-class system—may be worth comparing with a Pi build. A January 2026 report on home-lab costs emphasizes that the comparison depends on the complete system, not just the bare board.
- Price the full configuration: memory, storage, power supply, case, adapters, tax and delivery.
- Compare idle power draw and upgrade options for the specific systems on offer.
- Check that the required operating system, container images and applications support the machine’s architecture; ARM and x86 software images are not interchangeable by default.
Use a like-for-like checklist before switching
A lower bare-board price can disappear once required parts are added. Compare each candidate against the project’s actual requirements:

Wait or redesign if neither option makes sense
If timing is flexible, waiting or simplifying the project may be preferable to paying an inflated listing price or buying hardware that requires a rewrite. Raspberry Pi described memory pricing as temporary but did not give a reliable date for lower prices or improved availability. There is therefore no sound basis for predicting when stock or prices will normalize.
