If a game you paid for is missing from your PlayStation library, first sign in with the exact PlayStation Network account that made the purchase and verify the transaction in its transaction history. Then check whether the game is hidden, being accessed through another account or PlayStation Plus, blocked by a license problem, or affected by a service or system-software issue.
Follow the checks below in order. The correct fix depends on whether the game is completely absent, shows a padlock, will not download, came from a voucher, is shared by another user, or was obtained through PlayStation Plus.

Start with the account that bought the game
Digital ownership is attached to the PlayStation Network account used for the purchase or voucher redemption. A game bought on a different account will not appear as owned on the account currently signed in, even when both accounts use the same console.

- Open that account’s transaction history and find the game, add-on, or voucher redemption.
- Confirm that the transaction succeeded rather than being canceled, reversed, pending, or associated with a different account.
- Return to the Game Library and search for the title on the correct account.
If the transaction is absent, do not buy the game again yet. Check other household accounts, email receipts, and the account used when the voucher was redeemed. A successful transaction on another account explains why the current profile cannot download the title as its own purchase.

Match the symptom to the likely fix

Check whether the game is hidden
A title can be hidden from the Game Library without being deleted from the purchasing account. PlayStation states that games hidden in the Game Library are hidden in the libraries of all consoles, so checking a second console will not reveal it.
- Open Game Library on the account that owns the game.
- Open the library’s hidden-games view or filtering control.
- Select the missing title and choose the unhide option.
- Return to the normal library and search again.
If the title is hidden, unhide it before changing account or console settings. Hiding changes the library view; it does not transfer ownership to another profile.
Determine how you obtained access
One-time digital purchase
For a normal digital purchase, the successful transaction in the buying account is the ownership check. Once that account is confirmed, the console should recognize the entitlement after the library refreshes or licenses are restored.

Voucher redemption
A voucher grants its content to the account that redeemed the code. Check transaction history on that account, not merely the account that uses the console most often. If the code was redeemed elsewhere, the receiving account must supply the entitlement.
Another user’s purchase
Family members can use a game owned by another account when the console’s sharing feature is configured correctly. The owner still has to sign in on the relevant console and keep the entitlement on that account; simply having both profiles present does not automatically share every purchase.

PlayStation Plus access
PlayStation Plus games are a benefit of the subscription and are not necessarily permanent purchases. Confirm that the account’s subscription is active and that the title remains available through the specific benefit or catalog from which it was obtained. If a catalog title has left the catalog, or the subscription has ended, restoring licenses cannot create entitlement that is no longer included.
Enable sharing when another account owns the game
PS5: Console Sharing and Offline Play
On PS5, the account that owns the game must enable Console Sharing and Offline Play on that console. This setting allows other users on the PS5 to access the owner’s purchased games, subject to PlayStation’s account and console rules.

- Open Settings > Users and Accounts > Other.
- Open Console Sharing and Offline Play.
- Enable the setting if it is disabled, then switch back to the user who needs to play.
If the owner has enabled sharing on another PS5, the current console may not receive that shared entitlement. Test the game while the owner’s account is signed in, then verify the sharing setting on the intended console.
PS4: Activate the owner’s primary PS4
PS4 uses a different mechanism. The purchasing account must activate the console as its primary PS4 before other users on that console can use the account’s games.
- Sign in on the PS4 with the account that bought the game.
- Open Settings > Account Management.
- Choose the option to activate the console as the owner’s primary PS4.
- Return to the other user and check the library or start the game again.
Do not treat PS5 Console Sharing and Offline Play and PS4 primary-console activation as interchangeable labels. The platform-specific setting is the one that controls sharing.

Restore licenses
Restoring licenses is PlayStation’s targeted fix when a purchased game or add-on is missing, locked, or not being recognized correctly. It rechecks the account’s entitlements and does not remove installed games or saved data. PlayStation’s support wording is: Please note, restoring licenses won’t affect your data.

- Open Settings.
- Choose Users and Accounts.
- Choose Other.
- Select Restore Licenses.
- Follow the on-screen confirmation, wait for the process to finish, and check the library again.
PS4 steps
- Open Settings.
- Choose Account Management.
- Select Restore Licenses.
- Wait for the confirmation, then reopen the library or retry the game.
Run this procedure on the account that owns the game. Running it on a different profile cannot restore an entitlement that belongs elsewhere.
Check PlayStation services and system software
A library or download can fail while the account is correct if PlayStation services are experiencing an outage or if the console is behind on system software. Check the official PlayStation status information before repeatedly retrying a purchase or download.
- Review the current PlayStation service status, especially account management, the PlayStation Store, and gaming services.
- Install the latest system software offered by the console.
- Restart the console after an update or service recovery.
- Retry the library search, license restoration, or download and record any error code.
If services are unavailable, a missing library entry may be temporary. Avoid repurchasing the game while an account or Store outage is being investigated.
Use Safe Mode when the library database is inconsistent
When the account owns the game, the title is not hidden, licenses have been restored, and services are working, the local library database may still be out of sync. PlayStation provides Safe Mode maintenance options for this situation.

PS5
Start the PS5 in Safe Mode and use the option to clear the cache and rebuild the database. Clear the cache addresses temporary system data; rebuilding the database reorganizes the console’s content index so the library can be scanned again. Follow the on-screen warning and do not interrupt the console while it works.
PS4
Start the PS4 in Safe Mode and choose the option to rebuild the database. This refreshes the local content index without changing the account that owns the game. After the console restarts, sign in to the purchasing account and check the library.
Safe Mode database maintenance is different from initializing the console. Choose the cache-clearing or database-rebuild maintenance option, not an option that erases console data.

If the title appears in the library but the download stops, the ownership problem may already be solved. Concentrate on the download symptom instead.

- Check PlayStation service status and install pending system software updates.
- Restart the console and retry the download from the game’s library page.
- If the error persists, note whether it occurs immediately, at a particular percentage, or only with this title.
That timing helps Support distinguish an entitlement failure from a service or installation failure. Do not delete saved data while troubleshooting a license or download error.
When a padlock remains
A padlock means the console cannot currently validate the right to start the game. Check the entitlement type first: the account may not be the buyer, another account’s sharing setting may be disabled, or a PlayStation Plus subscription may have expired or lost access to the title. After correcting that condition, restore licenses on the owner’s account and restart the console.
If the game was purchased outright and the transaction is visible in the owner’s history, a persistent padlock after license restoration points to an account or service problem rather than a missing installation. Record the exact lock message before contacting Support.
Contact PlayStation Support with useful evidence
Escalate when the transaction is successful on the correct account, the title is not hidden, sharing or subscription access is valid, licenses have been restored, and the console and services are current. Give Support enough detail to reproduce the problem instead of sending only “my game is missing.”
- The PlayStation Network account ID or sign-in email, following Support’s privacy instructions.
- The game’s exact name and whether it is a PS5 version, PS4 version, add-on, voucher redemption, shared entitlement, or PlayStation Plus benefit.
- Transaction-history details showing the purchase or redemption and its date.
- The console model, current system-software state, and whether the problem affects one account or several.
- Every error code or on-screen message.
- The exact steps that reproduce the issue, including the date and time of a recent attempt.
- A screenshot or video showing the missing library entry, padlock, failed download, or relevant settings when possible.
Keep the purchase receipt and transaction-history page available. Precise evidence lets Support check the entitlement record, sharing state, and service-side errors without asking you to repeat unrelated steps.
