Do not uninstall the game or clear its storage until you have verified an account link or transfer method. Then work through reversible checks—restart, storage, network, updates, and cache—before checking the exact login method and following the title’s transfer instructions. If a pull was interrupted, inspect the game’s acquisition records before assuming the result vanished. Save and account problems ultimately have to be handled by the game’s publisher or developer.
Start with the safest order of operations
The order matters because some troubleshooting actions erase the only copy of a local save. Keep the game installed while you are uncertain about its account status.

- Preserve the current app. Open the game’s account, user-center, cloud-save, or data-transfer settings if the app still launches. Record the linked email, Apple or Google sign-in, Game Center account, publisher account, transfer code, and player ID. Take screenshots of non-sensitive identifiers, but never post passwords, one-time codes, or transfer credentials publicly.
- Try reversible checks. Close other apps, restart the phone or tablet, verify free internal storage, test the connection, and install an available game update.
- Check the account before attempting recovery. A missing save is often a different login method or account, not deleted data.
- Use the game’s own transfer screen. The store account used to install an app does not automatically guarantee that the game save or paid currency will move.
- Escalate with useful details. Use the official in-game support link or the publisher’s help center when the save, account, transfer, or purchase record still cannot be found.
Protect a save before clearing, deleting, or reinstalling
Verify the link or transfer status
Look for labels such as Account, User Center, Bind Account, Data Transfer, 引き継ぎ, Cloud Save, or Link Account. Confirm which credential is actually attached to the game, and write down the player ID shown in the profile or support menu. A store login and a game login can be separate systems.

Its warning also makes clear that using the same Apple ID or Google account to reinstall an app is not, by itself, a recovery method for game data. EA gives the same practical distinction in its mobile-game guidance: reinstall only after a linked-account backup is confirmed. An unlinked guest save may exist only on the device and may not be recoverable after the app or device is lost.

Do not confuse cache with storage or data
Clear cache normally removes temporary files. Clear storage, clear data, or delete app can remove local authentication and save data. The Bandai Namco crash guidance recommends clearing cache and warns that the game may download its data again afterward; it does not tell players to erase app storage. Use the exact label shown by your operating system and avoid broad “cleaner” tools while recovery is unresolved.
Fix a game that will not launch or keeps crashing
1. Close competing apps and restart
Quit the game and other demanding apps from the recent-apps screen, then restart the device. This releases memory and resets temporary network or graphics states without changing the game’s account data. After rebooting, open the game before launching other apps.
2. Check free internal storage
Open the device’s storage settings and make sure there is room for the game to create temporary files or unpack an update. Konami lists memory and storage conditions as possible causes of failure to open or log in. If storage is nearly full, remove disposable photos, downloads, or other apps—not the game’s data—then restart and try again.

Try a stable Wi-Fi connection. If Wi-Fi fails, switch briefly to mobile data; if mobile data is unreliable, return to Wi-Fi. Konami specifically recommends switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data when checking whether the network is involved. Avoid repeatedly starting a download on a weak connection, because a partial update can produce another crash.

4. Install the official update
Check the game’s store listing for an available update and install it only from the official store. Publishers frequently require a current client after server maintenance. If the store shows an update waiting, finish it on a stable connection before trying more drastic steps.
5. Clear only the cache, if the game’s support page allows it
On Android, the path is commonly Settings > Apps > [game] > Storage > Clear cache, although labels vary by manufacturer. iOS does not provide a universal per-app cache button; use the game publisher’s instructions instead. Bandai Namco cautions that clearing cache can lead to a large game-data redownload, so use reliable Wi-Fi and keep the device powered.
6. Check service notices and maintenance messages
If the app opens far enough to display a maintenance or server error, wait for the stated service window rather than repeatedly reinstalling. A server outage cannot be repaired by deleting local files. Capture the exact error text and time for support if it persists after service resumes.

Confirm the exact sign-in method
Sign out only if you know how to sign back in. Test the same method originally used: a publisher email, a normal email-and-password account, Apple, Google, Game Center, or another platform option shown by that title. HoYoverse explains that a third-party Apple or Google login can be a different account from a standard email login even when both use the same email address, unless the accounts were manually linked. That behavior is not universal, but it is a reason to test each displayed method rather than assuming matching addresses are equivalent.

Check the selected account inside the sign-in prompt. A phone can hold several Google accounts, and choosing a different one can create a new level-one profile. If the game supports Google Play Games, open its account switcher and verify the active Google account. Google says that not all games automatically save progress and that the game developer—not Google—manages game accounts and in-app data.
Distinguish a new profile from a deleted profile
A tutorial or starter-screen appearance usually means the game opened a new local or server profile. Stop there; do not complete the tutorial or make purchases on that profile. Return to the title screen, locate account switching or data transfer, and try the original credential. Completing new-game steps can make it harder for support to identify which player record is yours.
Use the linked-versus-guest test

Moving to a new phone or changing platforms
Do not assume that downloading the game on a second device, using the same store account, or moving between Android and iOS will transfer everything. Read the title’s current transfer instructions before starting a new game on the destination device.
Same-platform move
For a move within Android or within iOS, sign in with the exact linked account and follow the game’s Transfer Data or equivalent flow. Some games require a one-time code, a transfer password, or an explicit export on the old device. Keep the old device and its installation untouched until the destination profile is confirmed.

Android-to-iOS or iOS-to-Android move
Cross-platform rules are title-specific. Bandai Namco’s Dragon Ball Legends instructions warn that certain paid currency and a pass do not transfer between Android or Google Play Games and iOS, and direct players to choose Transfer Data rather than starting a new game during the specified recovery flow. Treat that as an example for that title, not as a rule for every gacha game. The game’s own transfer screen is the authority on which progress, currency, passes, and purchases survive the move.
A transfer restriction or waiting period
If a title displays a retry restriction, follow the message exactly. The “24 hours” shown in the cited Dragon Ball Legends troubleshooting flow is a title-specific restriction after a transfer attempt, not a general recovery deadline or statistic. Do not apply it to another game.

A disconnect or crash can prevent the animation or result screen from appearing even when the server recorded the pull. Do not immediately pull again or spend more currency.
- Restart the game on a stable connection and wait for any account synchronization to finish.
- Open the roster, inventory, mailbox, summon history, or acquisition log supplied by the title.
- Search for an item or character acquired at the approximate time of the pull.
- Compare the currency balance and pull history before making another purchase.
SEGA’s Project SEKAI support gives a concrete example: check the Characters screen or Green Room, sort by Acquired to put new characters first, and contact support from the in-game Menu if the character is still missing. Other games may use different records, so use the equivalent official history for your title.
When and how to contact the publisher
Platform support can explain a sign-in feature or store transaction, but Google states that it does not manage game accounts or in-app data. For missing saves, transfers, player IDs, pull results, and in-game purchases, use the game’s official support route.
Prepare a support report
- Game title and region or server, if the game uses them.
- Device model, operating system version, and game version if visible.
- Exact login method and the player ID, user ID, or server name.
- Approximate date and time of the crash, failed login, transfer, or pull.
- Exact error text and screenshots that do not expose passwords or one-time codes.
- Whether the account was linked, a guest profile, or recently moved to another device.
- Safe steps already attempted: restart, network switch, update, cache clear, and account checks.
- Purchase receipt details only through the publisher’s secure form, never in a public forum.
What support can and cannot promise
The publisher can inspect its account and transaction records and tell you which recovery or transfer flow applies. It cannot necessarily restore an unlinked guest save, reverse a title-specific transfer restriction, or recover data erased by clearing storage. Support pages establish the route for escalation, not a guaranteed recovery or response time.
Actions to avoid while the problem is unresolved
- Do not uninstall the game before confirming a linked backup or transfer code.
- Do not tap Clear storage or Clear data when the instructions only say to clear cache.
- Do not repeatedly switch accounts and create new profiles without recording which credential produced each one.
- Do not start a new game, spend currency, or make another pull while investigating an interrupted result.
- Do not give passwords, one-time codes, transfer passwords, or full payment details to forum users claiming to be support.
- Do not assume a store account, device backup, or platform achievement automatically contains the game’s server save.
A compact decision path
The app will not open: restart, check storage, test Wi-Fi and mobile data, update, and use only an approved cache-clearing step. If it still fails, capture the error and contact the publisher before reinstalling.
The app opens but progress is gone: stop at the new-game screen, verify the exact login method and selected account, then use the title’s account or transfer screen. Keep a guest installation intact.
You changed devices: confirm the old device’s link or transfer setup, read the game’s cross-platform rules, and verify the destination profile before wiping the old device.
A pull was interrupted: inspect acquisition history, roster, inventory, mailbox, or summon records first; contact in-game support if the recorded result is still absent.
None of these steps works: send the publisher a complete, secure report with the player ID, login method, device details, time, error, and attempted steps.
