The organization that controls that record must correct it; changing an app entry does not change a legal title, boundary, or government register. Save the erroneous record, identify the exact field that is wrong, gather documents that support the correct value, file through the responsible authority’s official correction route, and keep the receipt or case number until you can verify the updated record.
Procedures, documents, fees, deadlines and appeal rights depend on the country, service and record type. Use the checklist below as a general method, then confirm the exact process with the platform operator, agriculture or revenue office, cadastral authority, or land-record center in your jurisdiction.

1. Identify the record owner before you submit anything
Digital agriculture services often copy, display or supplement information held elsewhere. A crop-inspection app may have its own working entry; a land portal may display an extract from a cadastral register; a private farm-management service may store data that has no legal status. These are separate records even when they show the same parcel.
Write down the service name, website or app, country and administrative area, account or application number, parcel or farm identifier, and the date you noticed the problem. Then classify the error:

Do not assume that an app correction proves ownership or changes a boundary. Conversely, a corrected land register may not automatically refresh a third-party agriculture service. Ask for confirmation of which database was changed and whether another update must be filed.
2. Preserve the incorrect entry and define the correction
Before editing, deleting or resubmitting anything, preserve evidence of what the system currently says. If permitted, download the record or take a screenshot showing the service name, date, identifier and erroneous value. Keep the original file unchanged and note who accessed the account.
Describe one discrepancy at a time
Your request should let a reviewer locate the record without guessing. State:

- the exact field that is wrong, such as crop type, area, owner name, plot number or land classification;
- the value currently displayed;
- the value you say is correct; and
- why the supplied evidence supports that value.
For several errors, use a numbered list or a table rather than a general statement that the record is “incorrect.” Do not include unrelated personal information. Redact identity numbers, bank details and information about other people unless the authority specifically requires them.

Gather relevant proof
Compare the digital entry with documents available to you, such as a land-record extract, deed, prior crop submission, survey or map, lease, inheritance document, official acknowledgement, tax record or inspection notice. Submit only material relevant to the disputed field and retain the originals. An authority may ask for a clearer copy, an identity check or a document in a prescribed format.
3. Choose the correct correction route
Use the route controlled by the record owner, not whichever channel is easiest to find. Typical routes include an in-app correction request, an online land-record application, a local agriculture or revenue officer, or a land-record service center.
- Find the official instructions. Start from the service’s authenticated portal, the responsible government department or the office named on the record. Treat social-media contacts and unofficial intermediaries as leads only; confirm the destination through an official channel.
- Check whether the issue is clerical or substantive. A typing error, omitted document or misclassified crop may fit a data-correction workflow. A dispute over ownership, inheritance, a neighboring parcel or the location of a boundary may require a survey, hearing, legal filing or revenue proceeding.
- Prepare the required identity and evidence. Match names and identifiers exactly as they appear in the controlling record. Keep a list of every attachment.
- Submit through the designated channel. Enter the identifier, wrong value, requested correction and explanation. If a local officer must initiate or reject an entry before it can be reassigned, follow that sequence rather than creating a duplicate record.
- Save proof of submission. Record the receipt, case number, date, office, staff contact and any stated service standard. A screenshot of a confirmation page is useful if no downloadable receipt is provided.
4. Follow the case through review, inspection or verification
A correction is not complete when a form is sent. Authorities may check documents, compare databases, conduct a field visit, ask for identity verification, request a formal application or notify other affected parties. Monitor the official status channel and answer requests by the stated deadline.

What to ask when you contact the authority
- Which record and field is covered by this case?
- Has the request been accepted for review, or is more information needed?
- Will an inspection, survey, hearing or biometric check be required?
- What document will show that the correction is complete?
- If the request is refused, how will the reason and next review or appeal route be provided?
Keep copies of every message and attachment. If a staff member gives verbal instructions, ask for the same instruction in writing or note the date, office and person who provided it. Do not open multiple cases for the same error unless the authority tells you to; duplicates can make it harder to track the controlling request.

5. Review the corrected record and handle a refusal
When the authority says the change is complete, obtain a fresh extract, updated screenshot or other official acknowledgement. Check the identifier, field, value, effective date and any linked map or title plan. A corrected crop value may still be attached to an outdated parcel number, and a corrected register entry may not have propagated to a separate agriculture platform.
If the authority cannot make the change, request the reason in writing. Ask whether the problem is missing evidence, a wrong office, a technical limitation or a substantive dispute requiring another proceeding. Follow the stated review or appeal route and its deadline. Do not describe a pending request as a completed correction to a lender, buyer, insurer or government agency.
6. When a boundary, ownership or title dispute needs another process
Many systems distinguish a minor clerical or documentary correction from a disagreement about legal rights. A misspelled name, wrong address, transposed plot number or obvious area entry may be handled administratively. A claim that a neighbor’s boundary is misplaced, that an inheritance was ignored, or that someone else owns the parcel generally cannot be resolved by changing a crop or app record.

Keep the digital-service correction separate from the underlying dispute: an app update is not evidence that title has transferred, and a title proceeding does not necessarily correct a crop-inspection database.

7. How official procedures differ by jurisdiction
The following examples show why a country-specific route must not be assumed. They are illustrations, not universal instructions.
England and Wales: HM Land Registry
HM Land Registry accepts reports of errors in a register entry, title plan or copy document. The reporter is asked to provide as much identifying information as possible, including the title number or reference, with supporting evidence where available. The registry investigates and may request more information or a formal application. If it corrects the register or title plan, it supplies an updated copy.
Its published estimated completion time for a correction it can make is 20 working days. That is an estimate for this HM Land Registry service in England and Wales, not a general deadline for agricultural or cadastral corrections elsewhere; complex errors can take longer.
Maharashtra, India: crop-inspection entries
The Maharashtra Land Records portal describes a localized workflow for an incorrect crop-inspection entry made by an assistant. The farmer should bring the error to the village revenue officer’s attention and have the entry rejected. After rejection, the parcel becomes available again under the assistant’s reassigned work so the crop entry can be made again. This is a crop-survey procedure, not a general land-registry remedy.
Brazil: rural-property registration in the SNCR
Incra’s guidance for the National System for Rural Property Registration says a rural-property record should be updated when area, ownership, exploitation or legal status changes. If insufficient or divergent data prevents a certificate from being issued, the holder should update the electronic rural-property declaration or contact an Incra service unit. This addresses SNCR registration data; it does not automatically correct a different crop app or land database.
West Bengal, India: minor land-record corrections
West Bengal describes corrections for clerical or documentary errors involving items such as a name, address, plot, area, classification or other record detail, supported by documents. Its guidance, last updated 26 June 2026, cautions that major ownership, boundary or title disputes may require separate legal or revenue proceedings. Use the minor-correction route only when the issue genuinely fits that category.
Punjab, Pakistan: land-record correction
The Punjab Land Records Authority describes an application followed by document review, possible field verification, technical review and approval. Depending on the correction, requests may be handled at an Arazi Record Centre or Dahi Markaz Mall. The authority notes that physical appearance for biometric verification is required in most cases. Confirm the center, documents and attendance requirement for your particular correction before traveling.

Greece: specified rural cadastral documents
Gov.gr provides a service for requesting correction of specified cadastral data, concession documents or agricultural-property expropriation committee decisions. It requires Taxisnet credentials and supporting documents, and sends the response through the portal inbox. Regional coverage was being added gradually, so confirm that the service covers your area before filing.
United States: USDA farm-boundary records
A USDA Farm Service Agency notice on incorrect adjacent farm boundaries directs staff to review ownership records for all associated farms, obtain additional evidence when needed and notify affected producers of changes. That guidance concerns the agency’s farm-record system; it is not necessarily the process for a crop-insurance database, state cadastral system or private agriculture platform.
8. Compare two possible routes before choosing one
When both a digital service and an official land record appear wrong, evaluate the routes using the same questions:

9. A reusable checklist
- Save the wrong entry with its date, identifier and service name.
- Compare it with authoritative documents and isolate the disputed field.
- Identify whether the platform operator, agriculture or revenue officer, cadastral office or land registry controls that record.
- Ask whether separate requests are needed when both a service record and official record are wrong.
- Submit the exact error, requested value and relevant evidence through the official route.
- Save the receipt or case number and note every follow-up deadline.
- Respond to requests for more information, inspection, identity verification or a formal application.
- Obtain and check the corrected entry, extract or written decision.
- If refused, obtain the reason and the available review or appeal route.
- For ownership, boundary, inheritance or title disagreements, ask about the separate survey, hearing, legal or revenue process.
