What to Do If You’re Falsely Accused of Cheating in Gray Zone Warfare

If you believe Gray Zone Warfare wrongly flagged or banned your account, check the exact notice, then appeal to MADFINGER Games through the game’s official support route. Keep the appeal factual: explain what happened, when the action occurred, why you believe it was mistaken, and include relevant evidence. The game’s End User License Agreement (EULA) specifically asks players to explain why they believe a ban is a mistake and provides examples of useful supporting material.

First, identify what kind of notice you received

Read the wording and platform shown in the notice before choosing where to appeal. A developer-issued Gray Zone Warfare game ban and a Valve Anti-Cheat (VAC) ban are different actions with different appeal routes. Do not assume that a notice is a VAC ban simply because you play through Steam.

  • Developer game ban: MADFINGER Games’ EULA directs players to the game’s official support route. Steam’s guidance also says the developer is responsible for a developer-issued game ban and has the information needed to address an appeal: Steam game-ban guidance.
  • VAC ban: Steam says its Support team does not manually remove VAC bans. If an investigation determines that a VAC ban was issued incorrectly, Steam says it will be removed automatically: Steam VAC-ban guidance.

If the notice does not make the enforcement type clear, use the official support instructions linked from Gray Zone Warfare rather than guessing which authority is responsible.

Review the rules that may apply

Before writing, read the relevant restrictions in the Gray Zone Warfare EULA. Among other things, it prohibits unauthorized third-party software, exploits, macros, scripts, modified controllers, and virtualized environments. Consider whether any of these topics is relevant to your circumstances and describe your setup accurately.

#1 Best Overall
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 - PC
  • New Pointstreak system that rewards players both for landing kills and completing objectives
  • Weapons proficiency system that allows you to customize your favorite weapons, making them more effiecent in any map or mode
  • Online/offline 2-player co-op Special Ops Survival mode that earns you experience through 16 frantic objective-based missions
  • New play modes, including: Kill Confirmed mode, Team Defender mode and user generated match modes
  • Integration with 'Call of Duty: Elite,' an online multiplayer oriented service launched simultaneously with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

The rule list does not disclose why an individual account was flagged. Without case-specific information from MADFINGER, an outside observer cannot determine the cause of a particular enforcement action. Avoid presenting a guess about a background application, a mass report, or an anti-cheat error as established fact.

Prepare a concise, evidence-led appeal

The EULA asks players to explain why they believe the ban is mistaken. It lists examples of potentially useful supporting material, including screenshots, video, timestamps, incident descriptions, player IDs, logs, and chat histories. Include material that directly relates to your account and the event; do not bury the explanation in unrelated files.

  1. Save the notice. Record its exact wording, the date and time it appeared, and the time zone if known. Note the account name and any case or reference number shown.
  2. Write a short timeline. Describe what happened immediately before the accusation or enforcement action, in chronological order. Separate what you directly observed from what you infer.
  3. Gather relevant records. Attach clear, dated evidence such as unedited screenshots or recordings, relevant logs, or chat history. Keep the original files so you can provide them if requested.
  4. Explain potentially relevant setup details honestly. If your software, hardware, controller, or system environment may relate to a rule, state what you used and when. Do not guess that a specific program caused the action.
  5. State the request plainly. Explain why you believe the ban is mistaken and ask support to review the case. Keep the language calm and factual; do not claim certainty beyond what your records establish.

Submit through MADFINGER’s official support route

For a developer-issued Gray Zone Warfare ban, use the official support route identified by the current game site or the game’s support instructions. MADFINGER’s EULA says: “Please use the "send feedback button" in-game menu to redirect you to the report form.” Follow the current in-game or official-site instructions available to you, since the exact route can depend on access to the game.

Know what to expect while the appeal is reviewed

MADFINGER’s EULA says appeal review “typically takes between 7-14 days,” depending on case complexity and support workload. This is an estimate, not a guaranteed deadline or promise of a particular result. Monitor the email associated with your account, including its spam folder, for a response or request for more information.

The available official guidance does not establish an appeal success rate or promise that a ban will be reversed. Public accounts of other players’ cases do not establish what happened in yours.
