If Blizzard has closed your World of Warcraft account for real-money trading (RMT), start with the Battle.net Account Restrictions page while signed in to the affected account. Read the penalty details and use the appeal option there if one is available. If someone else may have accessed your account, secure or recover it through Blizzard’s hacked-account process as well as appealing the penalty.
What Blizzard’s RMT notice means
Blizzard’s standard account-closure message says an account was closed because it was involved, “either directly or indirectly,” in an unauthorized exchange of in-game property for real-world currency. It also says, “The account holder is responsible for all activity on the account.” That is the stated policy basis in the notice; it does not, by itself, establish what happened in an individual case.

Blizzard’s materials do not explain how it detected a particular transaction, what evidence it relied on in a specific case, or how often appeals succeed. The closure notice may not provide further details. Avoid treating forum anecdotes as proof of what happened to your account or as a reliable prediction of the outcome.
Check the restriction and appeal route
- Sign in to the affected Battle.net account and open the Account Restrictions page. Review the penalty and whether an appeal option is available.
- Check the email address associated with the account, including its spam folder, for Blizzard’s penalty details.
- If the page offers an appeal, submit it through that channel and follow the status shown for the restriction.
A Blizzard forum representative has said appeals must be made through tickets. A forum post or social-media message should not be treated as a substitute for the formal support route.

Prepare a clear, factual appeal
Blizzard does not publish a required appeal checklist or promise that particular records will change a decision. To make your explanation concrete, describe what you know rather than speculating about Blizzard’s detection or accusing another player without evidence.
- Identify the affected WoW license and the restriction you are contesting.
- Give a concise timeline of relevant activity you know about, such as gold or item transfers, paid services, other people’s access to the account, or unusual sign-ins.
- Include or describe records that bear on those facts, such as relevant transaction or account-security records.
- Do not include passwords, authentication codes, or other account secrets in a support ticket.
If someone else may have accessed your account
Use Blizzard’s hacked-account recovery process to secure or recover the account, and explain the suspected compromise in the appeal. Account recovery and appealing the restriction serve different purposes: recovery addresses access to the account; it does not replace contesting the penalty.

After you submit the appeal
Wait for the support response and use the restriction page’s status information. Do not open duplicate tickets, send repetitive messages, spam Support, or mislead the reviewer. Blizzard warns that repeated or abusive appeals may not help and that appeals submitted after a final review may be ignored; its support interaction policy also prohibits spamming Support.

If Blizzard marks the review final or the page no longer offers an appeal, the available guidance does not establish a guaranteed further escalation route. Do not assume that another ticket, forum post, or public post will result in another review.
