If your registrar doesn’t support .si, register through another provider authorized to handle .si domains. Register.si, the official .si registry site, links to its registrar directory, and Slovenia’s SPOT government information service says .si domains can be registered through any authorized registrar.
Find an authorized .si registrar
Start with Register.si’s official registrar directory and choose a provider that accepts .si registrations. The registry describes a registrar as the entity where you register a domain name; it acts as an intermediary between the domain holder and the registry. Slovenia’s SPOT government guidance also says .si registration is available through any authorized registrar.

The registry directory is a neutral way to find eligible providers. It does not establish which provider has the lowest price or best support, so check each registrar’s current terms before choosing.
Check the domain name before paying
Use the registry’s lookup and confirm the name is available and complies with its rules. Register.si says a name must not already be registered or reserved, must be 2–63 characters long, must use permitted characters, and cannot begin or end with a hyphen. The permitted character set is described in the .si registration terms. Check the live lookup and current terms, since a name that appears suitable may already be taken or reserved.

Compare providers on the terms that matter
After confirming the name, compare the registrars that accept .si registrations. Prices and service features vary by provider and are not compared in the registry’s general guidance.
- Registration and renewal fees: Check both, including how and when the recurring renewal is charged.
- DNS and account controls: Confirm you can manage the settings and access you need.
- Support: Consider the support channels and availability if you need help with registration, DNS, or a transfer.
- Payment options: Make sure the registrar accepts a payment method that works for you.
- Transfer process: Review the provider’s instructions and any applicable fees if you might move the domain later.
These are provider-specific details; verify them on the registrar’s own site rather than assuming the registry sets them.

Register the domain and keep contact details current
A domain holder may be a natural person or a legal person under the registration terms. The registrar will apply its current requirements for the particular registration. Register.si’s holder-data policy says a registrar verifies at least one holder contact method during registration. Use accurate contact information and keep it current so notices and verification requests can reach you.

If you already have a .si domain, transfer it instead
If the domain is registered with another provider, you generally need to transfer that existing registration rather than register it again. Register.si says the holder can arrange an AuthInfo code through the current registrar or its online services, then give the code to the new registrar so it can complete the transfer. Check both providers’ current instructions and fees; their exact steps may differ.
