Start by checking the affected line’s bill under View discounts and then check your trade-in status in AT&T’s tracker. A missing credit may simply mean the device or promotion is still processing. Compare your account with the exact offer terms before escalating: AT&T describes posting windows of 1–3 billing cycles, 2–3 billing cycles, and, on a general billing page, 3–4 bill periods, depending on the page and offer. If the applicable window has passed or your records conflict, contact AT&T with your order, trade-in, shipment and billing evidence.
First, confirm whether the credit is actually missing
AT&T trade-in promotions generally do not appear as a single cash payment. They are usually monthly bill credits tied to an eligible device installment plan, a qualifying trade-in and the other conditions of a specific promotion. That means the first bill after your purchase may not show the full advertised value, and a trade-in can be approved before the first monthly credit posts.

Sign in to your AT&T account and open the relevant bill. Under Last bill, choose View discounts. If the account has multiple wireless lines or other AT&T services, verify that you are looking at the line that received the new device. A credit assigned to another line, or a bill view for a different service, can make a valid promotion look absent.

Use this five-minute account check
- Open the correct bill. In the billing center, go to Last bill and select View discounts.
- Select the intended wireless line. Check the phone number or line description associated with the upgraded device, especially if several lines were changed at once.
- Read the discount description. Look for a monthly device or promotional credit rather than assuming the trade-in value will appear as a separate one-time payment.
- Check the customer service summary. AT&T advises using this summary to confirm that the account reflects the offer requirements you were expected to meet.
- Record what is absent. Note the bill date, installment charge, line number and any credit or discount description that does appear. This gives support a precise starting point.
Do not compare the credit with the phone’s full retail price alone. The offer may divide the promotional amount across the eligible installment term, and the credit can be conditional on keeping that installment and wireless line active.
Check whether AT&T has received and processed the trade-in
Open AT&T’s trade-in status tracker and enter the information requested for your transaction. A status such as processing means AT&T has not necessarily made a final eligibility decision. Until the device is received, inspected and matched to the offer, a bill credit may remain pending.
For an online trade-in, locate the shipping confirmation and delivery record. The tracking result should show whether the package was delivered to the correct destination. Keep the trade-in confirmation number, order number and the device’s shipment tracking number together; support may need all three to connect the physical phone with the wireless line.
A retailer transaction can follow a different workflow from an online transaction. Identify where the trade-in was submitted—AT&T directly, an AT&T-authorized location or a national retailer—before contacting support. The channel determines which records AT&T can search and which escalation route applies.
How long should an AT&T trade-in credit take?
There is no single universal deadline stated across AT&T’s public pages. The timing depends on the offer and on when all its requirements have been satisfied. AT&T’s current guidance, accessed October 13, 2026, uses these ranges:

These are billing cycles or bill periods, not a fixed number of calendar days. The clock should be measured from the point at which the applicable requirements were met, such as an eligible device activation and receipt or approval of the trade-in—not automatically from the day you placed the order.
Use the offer-specific terms first. If your terms say 1–3 billing cycles, do not assume the general 3–4-period statement extends your deadline; if the promotion refers to 2–3 cycles, use that language when deciding when to escalate. When the documents do not clearly identify a window, tell support which AT&T page or agreement you relied on and ask them to confirm the account’s expected posting date.

The credit is linked to an eligible installment
Promotional trade-in credits are commonly tied to an eligible device installment plan. Verify that the new phone is still financed under the account and that the installment agreement associated with the promotion is the one shown on the bill. A purchase made outright, a different installment arrangement or a line change can place the transaction outside the offer even if the old phone had value.
Early payoff can stop future credits
AT&T says paying off the installment early can stop the remaining promotional credits. If you recently paid the device balance in full, compare the payoff date with the last bill that contained a credit. A missing future credit after payoff may be an effect of the offer terms rather than a billing error.
An early upgrade can also end the credit stream
AT&T also warns that an early trade-in upgrade may stop credits. Check whether the line was upgraded again, transferred, suspended or otherwise changed before the advertised credit period ended. The original promotion may not continue after the qualifying installment or device is replaced.

Confirm the exact device and plan eligibility
Trade-in promotions have their own lists of eligible new devices, trade-in models, conditions and service requirements. The value shown during a quote is not proof that the final inspection met the promotion’s standard. Compare your confirmation with the offer terms for the model, storage capacity, condition requirements and qualifying wireless plan that applied when you ordered.
If you mailed the trade-in, verify the deadline and condition
AT&T’s online trade-in guidance says the device should be sent within 30 days of activating the new device. Its program terms also describe a 30-day period after accepting an offer to ship the phone. Use the deadline stated in your own transaction documents if the two descriptions do not line up, and retain proof of the date you handed the package to the carrier.
Before shipping, AT&T advises disabling activation locks. Remove the device from any account lock or anti-theft service, sign out of the manufacturer account, erase personal data and remove the SIM or other removable storage as appropriate. An activation lock can prevent processing and may result in a delayed, reduced or denied trade-in value.
Compare the carrier’s delivery record with the trade-in tracker. “Delivered” proves that the carrier reported a delivery; it does not by itself prove that AT&T has inspected the phone or attached it to your promotion. If the package was delivered within the deadline but the tracker remains unchanged, preserve the tracking page and contact support after allowing reasonable processing time.
What to do when the stated window has passed
Escalate when the offer-specific posting window has elapsed, when the tracker says the device was received but the bill has no corresponding credit, or when the bill and promotion records contradict each other. Use the support route shown in your AT&T account or bill for most transactions.

If you completed the trade-in through a national retailer, AT&T lists 855-975-4064 for that route. This number is not a universal replacement for every trade-in channel; identify the channel before calling so the representative can use the correct records.
Ask the representative to check three separate items:
- Whether the trade-in device was received, inspected and marked eligible.
- Whether the promotion is attached to the correct wireless line and installment agreement.
- Whether a credit is pending, denied, stopped or missing because of an account change.
Request a specific explanation and, if the credit is approved, the bill period in which it should appear. If the representative says the offer was not met, ask which requirement failed and whether the decision can be reviewed against your shipment, receipt and order records.

- The AT&T order or upgrade confirmation.
- The trade-in quote, confirmation number and status-tracker result.
- The exact promotion terms shown when you ordered or accepted the offer.
- The new device’s installment agreement and the wireless line receiving it.
- The affected bill, including the View discounts section.
- Shipment tracking, carrier acceptance and delivery dates for a mailed trade-in.
- Photos or notes documenting the device’s condition before shipment, if available.
- Dates of any payoff, upgrade, line transfer or plan change after the trade-in.
Do not send passwords, full payment-card numbers or unnecessary personal data. Give the representative the transaction identifiers needed to locate the account and offer.
Common situations and the right response
The phone is still marked “processing”
Wait for the offer’s stated processing and billing window while monitoring the tracker and the next bills. If the window expires without a decision, escalate with the confirmation and shipping records. Processing is not the same as rejection.
The tracker says eligible, but no bill credit appears
Confirm that the eligible trade-in is attached to the correct line and that the new device remains on the qualifying installment. Then check each bill’s View discounts section. If the eligibility decision predates the end of the applicable window, ask support to trace the promotion from the trade-in record to the billing system.
The bill shows a credit, but it is smaller than expected
Read the promotion’s duration and monthly amount. The advertised trade-in value may be distributed over multiple installments, and taxes, fees or a nonqualifying plan can appear separately. Compare the actual monthly credit with the terms rather than with the phone’s total price.
The credit stopped after a payoff or upgrade
Review the early-payoff and early-upgrade clauses. AT&T states that either action can stop remaining credits. If you believe the account change should not have ended the offer, provide the promotion terms and the dates of the change when requesting a review.
The package was delivered but AT&T cannot find it
Provide the carrier’s delivery confirmation, tracking number, trade-in confirmation and the date you shipped it. Ask AT&T to open a receiving or processing investigation. Keep the original device’s serial or IMEI information if you recorded it before shipment.
Prevent a missing-credit dispute on your next trade-in
- Save the complete promotion terms, not only the headline trade-in value.
- Capture the order confirmation showing the new device, line and installment arrangement.
- Ship within the stated 30-day deadline and keep the carrier receipt until credits begin.
- Disable activation locks and document the phone’s condition before packing it.
- Check the bill’s View discounts section after each billing cycle in the expected window.
- Avoid paying off or upgrading the qualifying installment until you understand how that action affects remaining credits.
The decisive records are your offer terms and AT&T account history. Public guidance cannot determine whether a particular phone was received, whether its inspection passed or whether a specific line remains eligible. Those facts can be established only from the transaction records and an account review by AT&T.
