First determine whether this was a direct Polygon PoS transfer or a cross-chain bridge transaction, then inspect the transaction hash, destination address, network, token contract and amount. A confirmed transfer to a wallet you control is usually a display or network-selection problem; a bridge failure follows a different refund process; a transfer to an exchange or someone else depends on that recipient’s cooperation and policies.
Start by identifying exactly what happened
Write down the transaction hash before changing anything. Also record the source network, destination network, sending address, complete receiving address, amount, and the kind of destination: a self-custody wallet you control, an exchange deposit address, another person’s wallet, or an address you do not recognize. Never share a seed phrase or private key while investigating.

- Direct Polygon PoS transfer: USDT0 was sent from one Polygon address to another. The transaction should be judged by its on-chain status and destination address.
- Cross-chain transfer: you used the USDT0 transfer interface or another bridge to move value between networks. A bridge can fail at the source-chain, destination-chain, or final-delivery stage, and its refund rules differ from a normal token send.
A missing balance by itself proves neither failure nor loss. The transaction record is the starting point.

Check the transaction on Polygon
- Open the Polygon block explorer independently and paste the transaction hash into its search field. Do not use a link sent by a stranger in a chat or direct message.
- Confirm the status is successful, pending, or failed. Note the exact destination address shown by the transaction, not a shortened label displayed by your wallet.
- Check the token transfer entry, contract address, amount and number of token units. Compare the full receiving address character by character with the address you intended to use.
- Confirm which network your wallet is currently displaying. A wallet set to Ethereum, another chain, or a different Polygon environment can hide a valid Polygon balance.
If the explorer shows a failed transaction, do not treat the wallet’s old balance as evidence that a second transfer is required. If it shows a successful transfer, continue by checking ownership of the destination and the token contract.
Why USDT0 may not appear in a Polygon wallet
Use the current Polygon contract
The official USDT0 Polygon page lists this token contract: 0xc2132D05D31c914a87C6611C10748AEb04B58e8F. Open the official page at https://usdt0.to/ecosystem/polygon and verify the address yourself before importing a token. A malicious token can copy a familiar name and symbol while using a different contract.
The page identifies the asset as USDT0 on Polygon and says its transfer widget supports MetaMask, Rabby, Coinbase Smart Wallet and wallets connected through WalletConnect. If the explorer shows a successful transfer to your own address but the balance is absent, switch the wallet to Polygon and add the official contract as a custom token when your wallet requires that step.

Do not infer loss from a symbol change
Polygon’s migration announcement says Polygon PoS USDT was upgraded to USDT0 while retaining its original contract address for user convenience. Therefore, a wallet changing the displayed symbol is not, on its own, evidence that funds disappeared. Still verify the network and the complete contract address against current official documentation before interacting with the asset. See Polygon USDT Now Upgraded to USDT0.
When a display problem is the most likely explanation
A successful explorer transaction, a destination address that you control, and the correct Polygon contract point toward a wallet-interface issue rather than an on-chain loss. Reopen the wallet after changing networks, refresh its token list, and compare the balance shown by the explorer with the wallet’s balance. Do not approve a new transaction merely to make the token appear.
If the transfer used a bridge
Bridge transactions have several stages. Polygon Support’s documented outcomes are summarized below; these instructions apply to the bridge flow described by Polygon, not automatically to a direct USDT0 send.

Recovering a rare intent-address transaction
- Open the Trails widget or the relevant transaction history from Polygon’s bridge guidance.
- Connect the same wallet that initiated the bridge. A different wallet may not have authority to act on the transaction.
- Locate the stuck transaction using its hash and inspect the destination-chain details.
- If the interface offers abort, read the transaction details carefully and sign only after confirming the wallet, network and fees.
- Check the destination-chain wallet for the refund. Access to the relevant destination-chain wallet may be required.
Polygon’s full explanation, including the distinction between source-chain and destination-chain refunds, is at What happens if my transaction fails?. The published guidance does not provide a universal recovery time or a recovery-rate statistic, so do not rely on a promised deadline or percentage.

A bridge screen can fail even when the underlying transaction has a different status. Polygon Support lists an out-of-sync backend indexer, an incompatible wallet and a temporary RPC outage as possible causes of generic bridging errors. A successful explorer transaction paired with a missing interface display therefore warrants a network and token check before you conclude that the funds are unrecoverable.
- Compare the bridge’s transaction history with the explorer record for the same hash.
- Reconnect a wallet supported by the transfer interface, or try the supported connection method again without approving an unrelated request.
- Check whether the wallet is on the source or destination network expected by the bridge step.
- If funds remain stuck after you have captured the hash, addresses and networks, contact Polygon Support through its official channel and provide those details. Do not send a second bridge transaction to “unstick” the first one.

If USDT0 was sent to an exchange
An exchange deposit address is not a wallet you can operate with your own private key. If the explorer confirms a successful Polygon transfer to the exchange’s deposit address, contact that exchange through the support path shown on its official website. Include:
- the transaction hash;
- the network, stated as Polygon;
- the asset name, USDT0;
- the exact amount; and
- the complete destination address.
Do not open duplicate tickets with unverified “recovery” agents or send an extra payment. Polygon Support states that funds transferred directly from a wallet to an exchange via Polygon cannot be reverted by Polygon; the exchange is the party that may be able to recover them, subject to its access, procedures and policies. Recovery is not guaranteed. Read the official guidance at I have transferred funds directly to an exchange from the Polygon.
If it went to another person or an unknown address
Another person’s address
A confirmed blockchain transfer normally cannot be reversed by clicking a wallet setting or contacting Polygon. If you know the recipient, contact them through a trusted channel, provide the hash and amount, and ask them to send the funds back. Return transfers are new transactions that the recipient must authorize; check the return address carefully before they send anything.
An address you do not control
If the destination is unknown, inaccessible, or controlled by someone who will not cooperate, the official guidance reviewed here provides no universal recovery method. Do not claim the transfer is recoverable merely because the address is visible on the explorer. Anyone promising guaranteed recovery in exchange for a fee is asking you to take an additional risk.
Security rules while troubleshooting
- Reach the USDT0, Polygon, wallet and exchange websites independently. Treat search ads, unsolicited messages and look-alike domains as untrusted until verified.
- Never disclose a seed phrase, private key, wallet backup file or signing password. Genuine support does not need those secrets to inspect a public transaction hash.
- Never send a “verification,” “unlock,” tax, deposit or gas payment to a person who claims they can recover a completed transfer.
- Read every wallet approval and signature request. Reject requests that involve an unrelated token, an unfamiliar contract or a network you did not intend to use.
- Keep the transaction hash, timestamps, addresses and screenshots for the exchange or bridge support case, but redact private information that is not needed to identify the public transaction.
A practical decision path

What to include in a support request
Send a concise, factual report: transaction hash; source and destination networks; sending and receiving addresses; token contract; amount; date and time; whether the explorer says pending, successful or failed; and the wallet, bridge or exchange interface used. State whether you still control the destination wallet. Never include a seed phrase or private key. This information lets support distinguish a display problem from a bridge-state problem or a recipient-controlled deposit.
Bottom line
Start with the on-chain record, not the wallet balance. A successful Polygon transfer to your own address calls for a Polygon network and official-contract check. A bridge failure must be classified by the stage at which it stopped, because refunds and the rare abort procedure differ. An exchange deposit is governed by the exchange, while a transfer to another or unknown address has no guaranteed reversal. No legitimate helper needs your signing secrets or an extra payment to investigate a public transaction.
