If Reunion will not start, do not keep attacking the earlier dragon or wait at the elevator landing. The decisive Fallen Dragon battle becomes available only after Rovall’s Soul and Will have been recovered and the dragon’s heart restored. Return to Eir at the Mordria Temple elevator, examine the carved lever control in the round chamber, ride up, then climb to the Summit Ritual Grounds.
If the final health segment looks empty, the battle is not finished yet. Wait for a pawn to call “The heart is exposed!”, drop from the dragon, and run to its chest. That interaction triggers the ending scene and the later “Completed: Reunion” quest-log entry.

Confirm that you are at the Reunion stage
Several points in the main story can look like a broken Fallen Dragon quest. The most important check is whether you have completed the preceding sequence that restores the dragon’s heart.
Reunion requires Rovall’s Soul and Will
The Reunion walkthroughs place the decisive fight after recovering Rovall’s Soul Blade and reclaiming his Will. Those actions remove the condition that made the earlier dragon effectively undying. If that sequence is incomplete, Reunion may not appear and the elevator will not behave as expected.

Finish the preceding story objectives, then return to Eir at the Mordria Temple elevator. Eir’s presence there is the documented starting point for Reunion. One walkthrough warns that boarding the elevator commits you to the encounter, so finish preparation before examining the control.
Do not confuse Mountain Stronghold with Reunion
The first Fallen Dragon encounter occurs at Mountain Stronghold during “Rumbles in the North.” It is described as a survival encounter that ends in a scene, not the final battle that completes Reunion. If you are still at Mountain Stronghold, continue the main quest rather than expecting that encounter to mark Reunion complete.
Reunion is the later, decisive battle at the Summit Ritual Grounds. The location and the objective text are more reliable indicators than the dragon’s appearance alone.
Start the elevator sequence correctly
When Reunion is active and you have returned to Mordria Temple, use this sequence in the round elevator chamber:

- Find Eir by the doorway. Speak with or approach her and read the warning that boarding commits you to the encounter.
- Locate the carved control housing. In the circular chamber, look beside a pillar for the carved lever mechanism and its metal lever.
- Use Examine on the lever. Do not rely on a normal attack or an unrelated interaction. The walkthroughs specifically identify Examine as the action that starts the scene.
- Wait for the platform scene. The chain-hung elevator platform rises with Eir. If the scene begins, the quest has not failed; it is moving to the next objective.
- Check the objective updates. The documented sequence reads: “Ride the elevator and face the Fallen Dragon,” followed by “You rode the elevator to face the battle with Eir,” “Travel to the Fallen Dragon’s location,” and “Defeat the Fallen Dragon and save Rovall.”
If the lever is present but Examine produces no response, move around the pillar and aim at the carved housing rather than the platform itself. The interaction point is the control beside the pillar, not the elevator floor or chain.
Reach the arena after the elevator ride
Arriving at the elevator landing does not start the boss fight by itself. From the landing, leave the dark stone hall through the broad stairway lined with statues.
- Follow the stairway out of the hall.
- Continue up the snowy steps.
- Watch for the Summit Ritual Grounds location banner.
- Step onto the platform at the summit.
The platform is the trigger for the waking scene and the boss fight. If you stop at the landing and wait for the dragon, you have not yet reached the encounter trigger.
Use the objective text to locate the blockage
| What you see | What it usually means | Next action |
|---|---|---|
| Reunion is absent from the quest list | The heart-restoration sequence is not complete | Recover Rovall’s Soul and Will, then return to Eir at Mordria Temple |
| Eir is at the elevator but the platform does not move | The lever interaction has not been activated | Examine the carved control and metal lever beside the pillar |
| The elevator ride completed, but no dragon scene appears | You are still at the landing | Climb the statue-lined stairway to the Summit Ritual Grounds platform |
| The earlier fight at Mountain Stronghold ended in a scene | You completed the survival encounter, not Reunion | Continue the main quest until the Soul-and-Will sequence is finished |
| The health display is empty and the dragon remains present | The final interaction has not been triggered | Wait for “The heart is exposed!”, drop down, and run to the chest |
Finish the fight when the health bar is empty
Reunion does not conclude merely because the visible health display reaches zero. The end-state cue is a pawn call: “The heart is exposed!”

- Listen for the pawn call rather than assuming the empty bar is the final step.
- Drop from the dragon when the heart is exposed.
- Run directly to the dragon’s chest.
- Interact at the chest to trigger the ending scene.
- After the scene, check the settlement quest log for “Completed: Reunion.”
If you continue attacking after the cue without reaching the chest, the battle can appear frozen even though it is waiting for this scripted interaction. The chest interaction, not another damage phase, is the completion trigger described by the walkthrough.
When the dragon seems immortal or unbeatable
The restored Soul and Will matter mechanically as well as narratively. The Norgan walkthrough says that restoring them removes the condition responsible for the earlier dragon’s undying state. A long battle after that restoration does not by itself prove that the old immortality problem has returned.
Reunion still contains dangerous attacks and exposed weak areas. Use cover, watch the dragon’s attack patterns, and take damage opportunities during openings. The available walkthroughs do not agree on one mandatory target order:
- One guide emphasizes unscaled flesh on the hind legs and the back between the wings, with the large rock used as protection from the blue blast.
- Another guide emphasizes weak spots on the head and arm and recommends using arena rocks for cover.
Because those recommendations differ, treat them as tactical options rather than a required script. Prioritize the vulnerable area you can safely reach in your own encounter, retreat behind cover for the blue blast or other heavy attacks, and do not assume that attacking a different body part means the quest is bugged.

Diagnose a genuinely stalled quest
Reunion never appears
Review the preceding story rather than revisiting the elevator repeatedly. The documented unlock condition is completion of the sequence that recovers Rovall’s Soul and Will and restores the Fallen Dragon’s heart. Once that is done, return to Eir at the Mordria Temple elevator.
The elevator has no usable control
Search the round chamber carefully. The relevant object is a carved lever control with a metal lever beside a pillar. Face the housing and use Examine. Interacting with the platform, chains, or a nearby decorative object will not substitute for the documented lever action.
The scene starts but the quest objective does not advance
Let the elevator scene finish, then leave the landing by the broad, statue-lined stairs. The next objective is reached at the Summit Ritual Grounds platform, not at the elevator doors.
The boss scene does not trigger on the summit
Make sure you have climbed all the way to the snowy platform until the Summit Ritual Grounds banner appears. The waking scene is tied to stepping onto that platform.
The ending does not trigger after the final phase
Wait for the exact “The heart is exposed!” cue, then drop and touch the dragon’s chest. Continuing to strike the body or waiting for another health-bar change will not replace that interaction.

What is—and is not—established about a softlock
Multiple walkthroughs document the progression above, but no official Capcom support article, patch note, or platform-specific fix for a Reunion softlock was identified. That means there is no verified universal workaround to recommend for a case in which the correct story stage, lever interaction, summit trigger, and exposed-heart interaction have all failed.
Before treating the quest as a confirmed bug, verify each state in order:
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →- Rovall’s Soul and Will were recovered.
- Reunion is present or the corresponding story objective is active.
- Eir is at the Mordria Temple elevator.
- The carved lever beside the pillar was examined.
- The elevator ride completed.
- The Summit Ritual Grounds banner appeared.
- The exposed-heart cue was heard and the chest was reached.
This checklist separates a missed trigger from an unexplained failure without promising a fix that has not been documented. If every state is confirmed and the game still does not advance, record the platform, quest text, and the last completed objective when seeking support; those details are more useful than describing the fight only as “stuck.”
Quick route from the prerequisite to completion
- Complete the preceding story and recover Rovall’s Soul and Will.
- Return to Eir at the Mordria Temple elevator.
- In the round chamber, Examine the carved lever control beside the pillar.
- Ride the chain-hung platform with Eir.
- Leave the landing through the statue-lined stairway.
- Climb to the Summit Ritual Grounds platform.
- Defeat the Fallen Dragon using cover and safe openings.
- When a pawn says “The heart is exposed!”, drop to the chest.
- Trigger the chest scene and verify “Completed: Reunion” in the settlement quest log.
That route resolves the common cases covered by the available walkthroughs: an untriggered quest, an elevator that appears inactive, a landing mistaken for the arena, confusion with the Mountain Stronghold survival fight, an apparently immortal boss, and an empty final health display that still needs the chest interaction.
