If your IPO allotment is confirmed but the shares are missing from your demat account, verify the credit in your depository transaction statement, then ask your Depository Participant (DP) and the IPO registrar to investigate. An allotment message, a bank debit, and a broker app display are separate records; none should be used as a substitute for checking the formal demat transaction record.
First, identify which record is missing
Check two things independently: whether the IPO registrar or exchange confirms an allotment, and whether the shares appear in your demat transaction statement. Use the official status information named in the IPO offer materials, confirm the application details and allotted quantity, and save the result. If the official status shows no allotment, no share credit is due; check the application-funds status separately.

Next, inspect the transaction statement or depository alerts for the relevant ISIN and transaction date. A broker app is a convenient display, but if it does not show shares, compare it with the formal transaction record. SEBI’s Investor Charter for Depositories advises investors to check statements and raise discrepancies with the DP, followed by the depository if necessary.

| No allotment on the official status page | A share credit is not expected. | Check whether the application amount remains blocked or has been unblocked; do not pursue a share-credit correction unless the allotment record changes. |
| Allotment confirmed, but no credit in the demat transaction statement | The issue is not just a broker-app display discrepancy. | Ask the DP to check account readiness and beneficiary details, and contact the registrar with the evidence below. |
| Credit appears in the transaction statement but not in the broker app | The depository record shows the credit; the discrepancy is with the app display. | Contact your broker or DP with the transaction date and statement entry and ask them to reconcile the display. |
There is no universal broker-display update window established for every IPO and broker, so do not rely on a fixed number of hours as proof that a missing credit will appear.

Check whether the demat account could receive the credit
The National Stock Exchange’s FAQ on ASBA IPO for Investors identifies three possible reasons for failed credit: an inactive demat account or a restriction against receiving credits, a mismatch in account data, or an incorrect demat number supplied with the bid.
Contact your DP through its official account portal or contact details and ask it to verify that the account is active and ready to receive credits. Have the DP compare the beneficiary details in the account with the details submitted in the IPO application. NSE’s guidance is: “Ensure that your DP account is active and is in ready state for receiving credits.”

Send the registrar the details needed to investigate
NSE advises investors to provide the Registrar to the Issue with a copy of the demat Client Master so the registrar can enable upload of allotted shares. Obtain current contact details from the IPO offer document or the registrar’s official website; do not rely on an unverified number or address.

In your message, include the issue name, application number, confirmed allotment quantity, DP ID and client ID, and the information the DP verified. Provide PAN or other identifying details only through the registrar’s official channel and only as requested. Attach the Client Master and relevant allotment evidence, and keep a copy of the message and any acknowledgement.
- Save the application number and bid details.
- Keep the official allotment result and demat transaction statement.
- Retain the Client Master, correspondence and complaint reference numbers.
- Never provide an OTP, password or trading login credential to resolve a credit issue.
Keep the share-credit issue separate from the funds issue
With ASBA, the application amount is blocked in the bank account; after allotment, the amount due for allotted shares is debited. If there is no allotment, a refund is not needed because the money remained in the applicant’s account. SEBI’s ASBA FAQs and UPI as Payment Mechanism in Public Issue describe blocking, debit for allocated shares and unblocking excess funds.
Record separately whether an allotment was confirmed, whether shares were credited, and whether funds were debited or remain blocked. A bank notification by itself does not establish that shares were credited to the demat account.

If the registrar and DP do not resolve the discrepancy, submit a written complaint to both using their official channels and retain the complaint references. The registrar handles post-issue investor queries and share-credit processing; the DP is the investor-facing intermediary for the demat account. The depository—NSDL or CDSL—maintains the demat infrastructure and has an investor grievance channel.
For a demat grievance, SEBI’s Investor Charter for Depositories identifies the depository’s complaint channel and SEBI’s SCORES portal as escalation routes. The charter says grievances lodged directly with a depository are to be resolved within 30 days. Follow the current instructions on the official portals, as complaint procedures may change.
Wait for both listing and credit before trading
NSE says investors can trade after the shares are listed and credited to the demat account. Do not treat an allotment message, a bank debit or a pending broker-app display as confirmation that the shares are available to trade.
