Take the Galaxy Buds out and don’t force them back in. Samsung says to stop using the earbuds and consult a doctor if you experience ear pain or skin irritation. If the device feels unusually hot while charging, disconnect the charger and let it cool.
If your ears hurt or feel irritated
Remove the earbuds and stop wearing them. Samsung’s US wear guidance says: “Should you experience any ear pain or skin irritation while using the earbuds, discontinue use immediately and consult a doctor.” This advice covers the cited instructions for Galaxy Buds2 and Buds2 Pro, Buds Live, Buds Pro, and Buds and Buds+.

Don’t keep wearing the earbuds to see whether symptoms worsen, and don’t treat a new ear tip as a remedy for persistent pain, irritation, or swelling. Seek medical advice, as Samsung directs.

If the earbuds feel uncomfortable but you have no pain or irritation
Fit and positioning may be contributing. Samsung recommends placing the buds gently and avoiding excessive force. The available adjustments depend on your model, so check its specific wear instructions rather than assuming it uses removable tips or wingtips.

Check the fit for your model
- Galaxy Buds2 and Buds2 Pro: Use the Earbud fit test in the Galaxy Wearable app. It reports whether the fit is good or poor; you can repeat the test while adjusting the earbuds.
- Galaxy Buds Pro and older Buds models covered by Samsung’s guidance: Try rotating the earbuds and, if applicable, another ear tip size.
- Galaxy Buds Live and Buds/Buds+ covered by Samsung’s guidance: Check the instructions for adjusting or changing the wingtips, where applicable.
Replacement tips are relevant only to models that use removable tips, and only if the current tips are missing, worn, or unsuitable in size. Confirm compatibility with your exact model. A different tip is not a solution for ongoing pain or skin irritation.
Keep the earbuds and your ears clean and dry
Samsung recommends keeping the earbuds clean and dry, and taking them out periodically to let your ears dry and help prevent moisture buildup. Cleaning directions differ by model; follow the guide for yours.

For the specific models covered by Samsung’s US cleaning guidance, the recommended tools include dry cotton swabs, a dry brush, and a soft, dry cloth. Samsung warns against using liquids such as alcohol or soapy water, metal or wire brushes, and holding the earbuds upright while cleaning. Don’t use external heat to dry them.

If the device gets hot while charging
Some warmth in the Galaxy Buds and charger during charging can occur. Samsung’s UK guidance says that if the battery gets hotter than usual, charging may stop; its advice is to disconnect the charger and wait for the device to cool. That page concerns Buds3 and Buds3 Pro, so its wording should not be assumed to apply identically to every generation.

Samsung does not give a universal temperature threshold for acceptable warmth in the cited guidance. If unusual heat persists, stop charging and contact Samsung support or an authorized service provider. Don’t assume that warmth felt while wearing the earbuds is normal just because charging can produce warmth.

Samsung Australia identifies nickel in stainless steel and acrylate in the earbud body as materials that may cause reactions in some sensitive users. The manufacturer also notes that extended wear or forceful insertion can contribute to pain or irritation. These possibilities do not establish the cause of an individual symptom or show that warmth is an allergic reaction.

If ear pain or skin irritation occurs, stop use and consult a doctor. Samsung recommends that people who have experienced irritation or discomfort consult a healthcare professional before using the earbuds.
