First identify what went wrong: an AI assistant may have given an inaccurate answer, Google Photos may have grouped or named the wrong person or pet, or another app may have produced the mistaken label. These are different problems with different correction routes. In Google Photos, you can report an Ask Photos response from the app, but that feedback is not a promise of an immediate fix and does not automatically correct a separate face or pet label.
What kind of photo mistake are you seeing?
Before correcting anything, distinguish the assistant’s generated words from labels saved in your photo library. A plausible-sounding description is not proof of what a photo contains.

- Wrong answer or description: An assistant misstates what appears in an image or returns a mistaken response to a search. If this is Google Photos Ask Photos, use its feedback controls.
- Wrong person or pet grouping or name: The app has placed a face in the wrong group or attached an incorrect name label. Manage the face or pet label separately; rating an AI answer does not itself correct the grouping.
- A different app or operating-system feature: Use that feature’s own help and correction route. There is no single correction procedure established for all photo assistants.
How do I report an inaccurate Ask Photos answer?
Google describes Ask Photos as experimental and warns that it may return unexpected or inaccurate results. The feature and its controls may not be available to every user or region. On iPhone and iPad, Google documents this route:
- Open Ask Photos in Google Photos and find the response that is wrong.
- Tap the thumbs-down control beneath the response.
- Optionally add details explaining the problem, then send the feedback.
If the thumbs-up and thumbs-down controls are not shown, tap More and choose Help & Feedback. Google says feedback can help improve Ask Photos; this is a way to report a problem, not a guarantee that the current answer will change or that a correction will happen immediately. How do I correct a wrong face or pet label in Google Photos?
Google Photos has face groups and user-assigned labels; labeled people or pets can be searched by label. That label-management feature is separate from feedback on an Ask Photos response. Use the people or pets label controls available in your version of the app to address a mistaken name or grouping. Google’s documentation describes face groups and labels, but does not give one universal correction sequence for every mistaken grouping or app version, so the exact controls may differ. Do not assume that reporting a generated answer changes a saved face label, or that correcting a label will repair an assistant’s current response. Treat each as its own issue and check the result in the relevant feature.

What should I check before sending photo feedback?
Feedback about Ask Photos may include information about the photos and videos considered for its answer. Google’s privacy information says this can include timestamps, locations, faces, and sometimes AI-generated text descriptions; it may also include details about studied face groups, such as name labels. Read the feedback notice in the app before submitting and avoid adding sensitive details that are not needed to explain the mistake. Google’s statement that voice recordings are not stored when voice search is used does not mean a photo-related feedback report contains no other photo data. Correction steps depend on the app, feature, device, and software version. Apple’s iPhone guide describes Apple Intelligence features in Photos, including finding images from a description, but does not establish a specific procedure for correcting a mistaken AI label. Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines say machine-learning mistakes should be correctable and use a photo crop as an example; that is general design guidance, not evidence of a particular Photos control. Consult the current help page for the feature you used rather than assuming it has Google Photos’ feedback buttons.
