Check the official store listing, compare your computer with the published requirements, and record the exact error before contacting support. No official source currently documents a title-specific crash cause or a confirmed fix, so generic PC troubleshooting should be treated as diagnostic rather than guaranteed.

Is Among Us Story: On Guard released yet?
Not as a finished game. Innersloth’s October 8, 2026 announcement gives the full release date as February 17, 2027. The announcement also describes a LudoNarraCon demo that was available only during the October 8–15, 2026 event window. If you are reading after that period, the demo may simply no longer be available; if you tried it during the window, you were running a limited preview rather than the final game.

Release dates, demo access and platform availability can change. Recheck Innersloth’s newest announcement and the current store page before assuming that a download is authentic or that a missing launch button indicates a fault.

1. Identify the build that is failing
“Won’t launch” means different things depending on what you installed. A time-limited event demo can disappear from a library or stop accepting launches when its event ends. A pre-release listing can show a release date without providing the full game. A third-party download can also be an unofficial or damaged build.
- Open your purchase or library history. Note the exact product name, publisher and storefront. The official Steam listing is the reference for the PC demo and future PC release.
- Check the date and edition. If the item is labelled as a demo, preview or event build, do not expect it to behave like the finished game.
- Confirm the platform. The current publisher announcement lists Switch, Switch 2, Android, iOS and PC. A listing for another platform is not confirmed by that announcement.
- Save the build number if the launcher displays one. Include it in any support request; an error in a preview build may not apply to the later release.
Do not download replacement executables from file-sharing sites while diagnosing a failure. Use the official platform listing so that you know the files and publisher are genuine.
2. Compare a Windows PC with the published requirements
Steam publishes minimum and recommended specifications for Windows. These are storefront requirements, not independent frame-rate tests or a guarantee that every configuration will launch. Steam also states that a 64-bit processor and 64-bit operating system are required.

How to check those Windows values
- Press
Windows+R, entermsinfo32, and check the Windows version and “System Type.” A 64-bit operating system should be shown. - In the same System Information window, note the processor model and installed memory.
- Open
dxdiagfrom the Run dialog and use the Display tab to identify the graphics adapter. - In File Explorer, right-click the drive where the game is installed and choose Properties to confirm that more than 2 GB is free. The requirement is available storage, not the game’s download size.
A machine below a listed minimum is not a configuration on which the publisher promises startup. If your hardware meets the minimum but the demo still fails, record the details instead of concluding that a graphics upgrade will fix it; no title-specific hardware diagnosis has been published.
3. Compare a Mac with the published requirements
The Steam listing also gives separate macOS values. It supports either Apple Silicon or Intel processors, but it specifies macOS 12 or newer.

How to check those Mac values
- Choose Apple menu → About This Mac and note the macOS version, chip or processor and memory.
- Choose Apple menu → System Settings → General → Storage to verify free space on the installation volume.
- Use System Information to identify the graphics hardware if the model name is not clear in About This Mac.
The listing’s Mac requirements were published before the full launch and may change. Meeting them does not establish that the event demo supports every driver, translation layer or external display setup.

4. Use a symptom-based launch check
Because there is no confirmed On Guard-specific crash fix, classify the failure before changing files. The following actions help separate an access problem from a device or build problem.

5. Safe platform checks you can try
Standard launcher maintenance may be reasonable, but no official source verifies these steps as a fix for this title. Stop if a step changes the evidence you need to report.
- Fully quit the game and storefront, restart the device, and try the official listing again.
- Install pending operating-system and platform-client updates that your device supports.
- Use the storefront’s built-in file verification option, if it provides one, rather than replacing files from an unofficial source.
- Temporarily close overlays, screen recorders or controller-mapping utilities only to test whether the symptom changes; record what you changed.
- If you reinstall, remove only the official installation and download it again from the same verified listing. Keep the error text and system information first.
These are ordinary diagnostic measures, not published Among Us Story: On Guard remedies. Repeating them will not turn an expired demo into an active release or make unsupported hardware meet a requirement.

6. Prepare an effective support report
A useful report gives Innersloth or the relevant storefront enough context to distinguish a listing problem from a crash. Include:
- Platform: Windows, macOS, Switch, Switch 2, Android or iOS.
- Operating-system version and, for computers, whether the system is 64-bit.
- Processor, memory, graphics adapter and free storage for a PC or Mac.
- The exact product label: event demo, another build or the future full-game listing.
- Storefront used and the date you installed or attempted to launch.
- What happened: no download, immediate close, crash after a logo, freeze, or a specific error message.
- Steps already tried, including updates, file verification or reinstalling.
- Crash logs or screenshots, if the platform offers them, with personal information removed.
Use current official support channels linked from the publisher or storefront. The available announcements and listing do not publish a verified crash advisory, workaround or title-specific error-code table, so an answer that depends on a particular code must come from an updated support notice or your own diagnostic report.
7. Recheck information before relying on an old guide
This title is still in its pre-release period. The demo schedule, release date, platform list and system requirements are all facts that can be revised. A guide written while the LudoNarraCon demo was live may describe a download that no longer appears; a guide written before the October announcement may omit Android or iOS; and a future Steam update may alter the requirements.
For that reason, check the date on any troubleshooting post, then compare it with Innersloth’s latest announcement and the live official store page. If those pages disagree with an older article, use the newer official information and include the discrepancy in your support report.
What not to conclude from a failed launch
- A failed demo launch does not prove that the February 2027 full game is broken.
- A missing demo after its event period does not mean your computer has a hardware fault.
- Meeting the minimum specifications does not guarantee performance or compatibility with every driver and peripheral combination.
- An unofficial download or altered executable cannot be used to diagnose the official build.
- Search results using phrases such as “crashes” or “won’t launch” show what people are looking for; they do not establish that a widespread, confirmed bug exists.
The practical path is therefore narrow: verify the build and source, check the correct platform requirements, document the exact symptom, and seek an updated official response. That approach avoids wasting time on fixes aimed at a different edition or at a game that has not yet released.
