It depends on the game. In Pokémon Legends: Arceus, a shiny you can see when you make a manual save may still be there after you reset, letting you reload and try again. In Pokémon Legends: Z-A, reports say a shiny that is scared away or defeated disappears; they do not establish a reliable way to restore it. These mechanics are not universal across Pokémon games. If you name the game you’re playing, the advice can be made specific to it.
Pokémon Legends: Arceus: reload a save made with the shiny in sight
Game8 reports that a shiny remains available after resetting if you saved while it was visible. If it flees, is accidentally knocked out, or a catch attempt fails, reload that save and try again. This is reported game behavior, not a recovery guarantee from the game’s publisher.

- Before engaging: turn off autosave so it does not replace the recovery point. Approach and make a manual save while the shiny is visible.
- If the encounter goes wrong: close or reset the game without making another save.
- Reload: continue from the manual save made with the shiny in sight, then try the encounter again.
If autosave or a later manual save has overwritten that point, this method does not restore the encounter. The Pokémon Company International notes that wild Pokémon react differently by species in Legends: Arceus: some flee when they notice you. Plan your approach accordingly, and weaken a Pokémon when needed to make it easier to catch.

Serebii reports that up to ten shiny Pokémon are kept in place around the city, but warns that they disappear if scared away or defeated. GamesRadar separately reports that a shiny that notices the player, becomes nervous, and runs will not respawn. Those reports distinguish leaving the vicinity from losing the encounter: a shiny may remain in place while you are away, but that does not mean it can be recovered after it runs or is defeated.

The sources do not establish a dependable reload method after a shiny is scared away or defeated in Legends: Z-A. Do not assume the Legends: Arceus save-and-reload approach applies.

Before trying a reset or relying on a spawn to return, identify the exact game and check its current encounter and save behavior.
