If a One UI update is missing, stuck downloading, or fails to install, first check whether it has been released for your exact Galaxy model and carrier. Then troubleshoot the connection and storage, retry the update, or use Samsung Smart Switch on a computer. Keep the phone charged and do not interrupt an installation.
Check whether the update is available for your phone
Open Settings and look for Software update or System updates; the wording and location can vary by model, carrier, and software version. Choose the available option to check for or download an update. Samsung’s instructions are at Samsung Support.

If no update appears, that does not necessarily mean the phone has a problem. Samsung says releases can roll out in waves. Check update information for your exact model and carrier, then try again later. Some carriers require Wi-Fi for updates, and a phone unlocked by its original carrier may need that carrier’s SIM. - Use a stable connection. Switch to Wi-Fi if your carrier requires it, and retry when the connection is reliable.
- Resume an interrupted download. Samsung says an incomplete download may be resumed from its notification.
- Free the space the phone requests. If the error says there is insufficient storage, remove or move files or apps until the phone reports enough available space. There is no single free-space target established for every model and update.
Try Smart Switch if the phone download keeps failing
Samsung Smart Switch provides a computer-based alternative when an over-the-air download repeatedly fails. It does not make an update available before Samsung or your carrier offers it for your device.

- Install or open Smart Switch on a Windows PC or Mac.
- Connect the Galaxy phone to the computer with its included USB cable. If your computer needs one, use a compatible USB adapter.
- If Smart Switch detects an available update, select Update and follow the prompts.
- Keep the cable connected and do not use the phone until the process completes and the phone restarts.

Keep the phone powered and avoid interrupting installation
The phone may be unusable and files may be inaccessible while an update is installing. Do not turn it off or disconnect a Smart Switch cable mid-update. Battery recommendations differ by region: Samsung Philippines recommends at least 20% charge, while related Samsung US guidance says to charge to at least 50% before installing. Follow the instructions shown on your phone and Samsung guidance for your region rather than treating either figure as universal. See Samsung Philippines’ update guidance and Samsung Support.

Get service help if the phone will not start normally
If the Galaxy phone cannot boot normally after a failed update, stop repeating update attempts and contact Samsung service. Samsung says service may be needed to reflash the device; its One UI 7 troubleshooting page directs affected users to a service center or repair appointment. Before attempting a factory reset, back up important data if possible, because a reset can erase it. See Samsung’s One UI 7 support page.
