Act as though the wallet is exposed until you know otherwise: stop interacting with the suspicious person or website, move any remaining funds only through your wallet provider’s official recovery procedure, and secure a potentially compromised Apple Account separately. Do not share a recovery phrase, private key, iPhone passcode, password or verification code with anyone.
A self-custody wallet, an exchange account, an unauthorized blockchain transaction and an Apple Account breach require different responses. Identify which access was exposed before taking irreversible action.

Do these things first
- End the suspicious interaction. Close the page, hang up, and stop replying to messages. Do not call a number, open a link or install software supplied by the person who contacted you.
- Use independently verified support. Open the wallet app you already installed, type the provider’s official website yourself, or use Apple’s built-in Settings app. Never use a support address or phone number supplied by the suspected attacker.
- Protect secrets. No legitimate support agent needs your recovery phrase, private key, iPhone passcode, Apple Account password or two-factor authentication code. Apple’s guidance states: "Apple will never ask you to log in to any website, or to tap Accept in the two-factor authentication dialog, or to provide your password, device passcode, or two-factor authentication code or to enter it into any website."
- Do not improvise a wipe or uninstall. Erasing an iPhone does not reverse a blockchain transfer, and deleting a wallet app can leave you unable to restore the wallet if its phrase was not safely backed up.
- Record what happened. Preserve messages, screenshots, wallet addresses, transaction hashes, dates, times, networks and amounts, but never include a recovery phrase or private key in your notes or reports.
If funds are moving right now, prioritize the wallet provider’s emergency instructions. A confirmed on-chain transaction normally cannot be reversed by the wallet provider.
First identify what kind of access is at risk
The word “wallet” covers two different arrangements. In a self-custody wallet, you control a recovery phrase or private key. In an exchange-hosted account, the exchange controls the wallet infrastructure and you sign in with an account password and verification methods. An Apple Account compromise is a separate incident that can affect the phone and other Apple services, but changing that password does not rotate a crypto wallet’s cryptographic keys.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
| What you observe | What it usually means | Immediate path |
|---|---|---|
| Recovery words or a private key were disclosed, typed into a site, photographed or stored where someone else could read them | Treat the associated self-custody wallet and every account derived from that phrase as exposed | Follow the provider’s official new-wallet and transfer procedure; stop using the old phrase |
| An outgoing transaction appears that you did not authorize | The key, signing session, device or account may have been used | Inspect the transaction in the official app and the relevant network’s block explorer, then follow the provider’s incident process |
| A suspicious decentralized-application connection or token approval appears, but no phrase was disclosed | A permission or signing authorization may be risky; this is not automatically the same as phrase theft | Use the wallet provider’s chain-specific instructions for reviewing or revoking permissions |
| You use an exchange and never received a recovery phrase | The likely target is the exchange login, email, phone number or session | Use the exchange’s official account-loss or account-lock process, not seed-phrase migration instructions |
| You see unfamiliar Apple sign-ins, trusted devices, verification codes or changed account details | Your Apple Account may also be exposed | Secure the Apple Account independently through Apple’s account-security controls |
Do not paste secret words into a “checker,” support form, block-explorer comment or chat. A public wallet address and a transaction hash are safe to share for investigation; a recovery phrase is not.
If a self-custody recovery phrase or private key may be exposed
A password change on the iPhone or Apple Account cannot change a wallet’s recovery phrase. Assume the old wallet is permanently unsafe if the phrase was revealed or entered anywhere an attacker could capture it. The goal is to create a new wallet with a different secret, move assets that remain, and retire every account derived from the exposed phrase.
Create the replacement wallet safely
- Use the wallet provider’s documented recovery instructions. Where possible, create the replacement wallet on a different device or in a separate browser profile that has not been used with the suspicious site.
- Generate a new recovery phrase inside the official wallet software. Write it down offline and store it where other people and phone cameras cannot access it. Do not photograph it, put it in cloud notes or send it by email.
- Confirm that the replacement wallet’s public address is correct before sending funds. A single incorrect character can send assets to an address you cannot control.
- Keep the old wallet available long enough to monitor and transfer what can still be moved. Do not continue signing new dApp requests from it.
Move remaining assets, then retire the old accounts
Transfer assets according to the provider’s instructions and the network’s requirements. You may need a small amount of the network’s native token to pay transaction fees, but do not blindly add funds when an automated “sweeper” may be watching the address. MetaMask, for example, warns users not to deposit additional ETH or other tokens to pay gas when a sweeper may immediately take them. That warning is specific to its documented incident guidance; another wallet may prescribe a different response.
Recommended Free Tools
MetaMask’s published procedure also tells users to create the new wallet in a separate browser profile or on another device, protect the new phrase, move remaining funds where possible, and discontinue use of the compromised wallet and all accounts associated with its phrase. Treat this as an example, not a universal workflow: follow your own provider’s official steps for networks, smart-contract accounts and hardware-backed keys.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
Do not uninstall a mobile wallet before you have its backup
For a mobile installation, verify that the existing phrase is safely backed up before removing the app or resetting the phone. Uninstalling can remove the local wallet data without removing the blockchain account; it does not make exposed funds safe and can make legitimate recovery harder.
If the wallet is hosted by an exchange
Do not import an exchange account into a new self-custody wallet merely because the iPhone seems suspicious. Open the exchange’s official app or manually entered website and use its account-compromise process. Change the exchange password from a trusted device, end unknown sessions if the service offers that control, review withdrawal addresses and security settings, and contact the exchange through its verified support channel.
Secure the email account and phone number used for the exchange as well. Ask your mobile carrier whether unauthorized call forwarding or a replacement SIM was requested. Keep the exchange’s case number and all withdrawal details with your evidence. The exchange may be able to freeze an account or investigate a pending withdrawal; it cannot generally reverse a confirmed blockchain settlement.

Open the official wallet and compare the activity with what you recognize: date and time, recipient address, decentralized application, network and amount. Copy the transaction hash and public addresses exactly. Use the relevant chain’s block explorer to see whether the transaction is pending, failed or confirmed, but do not connect your wallet to an unfamiliar “recovery” or “investigation” site to do this.

- Travel Must-Have for People On the Go: A must-have travel accessory for flights, flying, airports, air travel, airplanes, planes, international trips, cruises, and long travel days. Key gadget for your airport haul, travel accessories and must-haves.
- Pending: Follow the wallet provider’s documented emergency options immediately. Do not approve a second transaction from an untrusted prompt.
- Confirmed: Report it to the provider and the appropriate authority. Blockchain confirmation generally makes the transfer irreversible; a support agent cannot simply roll it back.
- Repeated drains: Stop adding funds to the address until the provider explains whether a sweeper or standing permission is involved.
An unauthorized transfer does not, by itself, prove that iPhone malware caused it. The phrase could have been exposed elsewhere, a signing request could have been approved, or an exchange account could have been taken over.
When a dApp connection or token approval looks suspicious
A connection or token approval can grant spending permission without revealing the recovery phrase. Do not treat every connection as proof that the phrase is compromised, and do not assume every phrase exposure is solved by revoking one approval.
Use the wallet provider’s own instructions for the exact network and token standard. The correct action may involve disconnecting a site, revoking an approval, moving assets to a fresh wallet, or all three. Avoid connecting to a third-party revocation service recommended by an unsolicited caller. If the provider cannot explain the permission safely, stop using the account and ask for incident guidance through its official channel.
Secure a potentially compromised Apple Account separately
Apple lists unfamiliar sign-in alerts, unexpected two-factor codes, unknown trusted devices, changed account details and a password that no longer works as warning signs. If any apply, treat the Apple Account as a second incident.

- On the iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then open Sign-In & Security and change the Apple Account password to a strong, unique password that is not used for the wallet, email or exchange.
- Review the account’s personal information, trusted phone numbers and email addresses. Correct anything you do not recognize, and confirm that you still control every linked mailbox and number.
- In Settings, tap your name and review the device list. Remove devices you do not recognize, then change the password again if an unknown device had access.
- Check with your carrier for unauthorized SIM replacement or SMS forwarding. Restore control of the phone number before relying on text-message verification.
- Ensure two-factor authentication is enabled. For people at elevated risk of targeted attacks, Apple also describes physical security keys as an optional hardening measure; at least two keys are needed so one can serve as a backup.
These steps protect Apple services and device access. They do not recover crypto or replace the wallet’s own migration procedure.
Check for an unfamiliar configuration profile without assuming malware
An unwanted configuration profile can control parts of an iPhone. Review installed profiles in Settings under General and the device-management or VPN/profile section; remove only a profile you recognize as unwanted, and follow Apple’s current removal instructions if the option is restricted.
A drained wallet is not a definitive diagnostic for iPhone malware. The available guidance does not establish a single test that can prove an iPhone was infected from a wallet incident alone. If you suspect device tampering, preserve evidence first and seek Apple or a qualified incident-response professional through independently verified contact details.

Notify the wallet provider or exchange after preventing further loss. In the United States, the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) asks victims to report promptly and provide transaction information. Outside the United States, use your national or regional cybercrime reporting authority. Reporting supports investigation but does not guarantee that assets will be recovered.
Reject “recovery” offers
People who have already lost cryptocurrency are targeted by recovery fraud. Ignore unsolicited callers, direct messages and firms promising guaranteed recovery, especially when they demand an upfront fee, a tax, a release payment or access to another wallet.
The FBI describes schemes in which a supposed recovery business charges an initial fee, supplies an incomplete or inaccurate tracing report, then demands additional payments or disappears. Do not send more crypto to prove ownership or to “unlock” a refund. Save the approach as evidence and report it through the same cybercrime channels.

Common mistakes that make the situation worse
- Sending the phrase to support: genuine providers can identify an account without the secret words.
- Using the same phone and browser for a rushed migration: a separate device or browser profile can reduce exposure while you follow provider instructions.
- Funding a watched address: extra gas can be swept immediately when an attacker controls automated software.
- Deleting the app first: this can destroy the only local copy of an unbacked-up wallet.
- Assuming an Apple password change fixes crypto: wallet keys and Apple credentials are separate.
- Paying a recovery service: no payment creates a guaranteed reversal of a confirmed blockchain transfer.
After containment: harden the accounts you keep
Once remaining assets are secured, replace reused passwords, update the email account tied to financial services, remove unknown wallet connections and review exchange withdrawal controls. Keep the new recovery phrase offline and limit who can see it. Consider a physical security key for the Apple Account only as a future sign-in-hardening measure, with a second key stored as backup; it is not an emergency wallet-recovery device.
The correct response depends on what was exposed: migrate a self-custody wallet whose phrase or signing access is compromised, use the exchange’s account-loss process for a hosted account, investigate transactions and permissions through official tools, and secure Apple access as its own case. If the facts remain unclear, stop signing and obtain provider-specific incident guidance before moving funds.
