First, check the exchange’s official status page and the exact transaction entry in your account. Then determine whether the transfer is still being processed by the exchange, waiting for blockchain confirmation, or confirmed but not yet credited by the destination. Those are separate stages, and an incident does not by itself explain what happened to a particular transfer.
Start with the exchange status page and your transaction history
Open the affected exchange’s official status page directly. Look for notices about deposits, withdrawals, wallets, or the specific network involved. Next, open the relevant deposit or withdrawal in your account history and note its status. An incident or maintenance window may affect funding, but the account record is needed to connect it to your transfer. Kraken recommends checking its status page when funding is delayed or technical difficulties are reported: Kraken’s cryptocurrency deposit FAQ.

Save the transaction details and the time you checked them. Status pages and exchange policies can change, so rely on the current notice rather than an old incident report or a general estimate.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFind the transaction ID and identify the transfer stage
For a withdrawal, open its record and look for the transaction ID (TxID). If one is available, use it to open the transaction in an explorer for the network actually used. The TxID lets you inspect the blockchain leg; it does not establish that the receiving platform has credited your account. Binance describes exchange processing, blockchain confirmation, and destination crediting as distinct stages: Binance’s guidance on a withdrawal that has not arrived.

| What you find | What it means for next steps | Who to contact |
|---|---|---|
| No TxID, or the exchange still shows processing | The exchange may not yet have broadcast the withdrawal. Check its stated processing and escalation guidance. | The sending exchange |
| Explorer shows pending or unconfirmed | The blockchain transaction has not reached the relevant confirmation state. Network conditions and platform requirements affect when it proceeds. | Check the sender’s record and the receiving platform’s requirements; contact the sender if its record indicates a problem. |
| Explorer shows failed or unsuccessful | The transfer did not complete successfully on-chain. | The platform where the withdrawal began |
| Explorer shows confirmed or successful, but the destination balance is missing | The blockchain transfer succeeded, but the destination may still need to recognize or credit it. | The receiving exchange or wallet |
| Deposit is on hold or under manual review | The receiving platform may need to review the deposit before making it available. | The receiving platform |
Binance advises contacting the sender for an unsuccessful withdrawal and the recipient platform when a successful transaction has not appeared there: Binance’s withdrawal troubleshooting guide. Do not apply a universal confirmation count or waiting time: blockchains and receiving platforms set different requirements, and congestion can add delay.
If a deposit is missing, check the receiving platform’s requirements
Use the deposit record and the receiving exchange’s asset and network instructions to check each of these:

- Minimum amount: Verify that the deposit met the platform’s minimum for that asset and network.
- Confirmations: Check whether the blockchain has reached the destination’s stated confirmation requirement.
- Deposit status: Look for a hold, maintenance notice, or manual-review status in the receiving account.
Kraken’s deposit guidance covers supported networks, minimums, addresses, tags, confirmations, maintenance, and holds: Kraken’s cryptocurrency deposit FAQ. Its status labels are specific to Kraken: “Pending” or “Processing” means confirming; “Credited” means available for trading but potentially not withdrawal; “Successful” means available for trading and withdrawal; and “On hold” indicates a manual support review. Other platforms may use different labels and rules: Kraken’s cryptocurrency deposit statuses.

Use the receiving exchange or wallet when the explorer shows a confirmed withdrawal but the destination account is still missing the funds. For a deposit marked on hold or under review, contact the receiving platform.

Know what can and cannot be reversed
A withdrawal successfully sent on-chain generally cannot be reversed by the sending exchange. Kraken states that it cannot reverse a withdrawal once it has been sent to the blockchain: Kraken’s cryptocurrency withdrawal FAQ.
A misrouted or otherwise misplaced deposit may sometimes be recoverable, but recovery depends on technical constraints and is not guaranteed; the time required can vary. Do not assume that a wrong network, unsupported token, incorrect address, or missing memo can be fixed. The destination platform must assess whether it can identify and access the funds. Check its current recovery terms for any applicable process or fee before proceeding: Kraken’s cryptocurrency deposit recovery guidance.
Use incident reports as context, not as a timeline for your transfer
Coinbase’s postmortem published June 1, 2026, says an incident on May 7, 2026, left trading, deposits, withdrawals, and most customer-facing surfaces unavailable or degraded for roughly eight hours; full recovery of all systems took another twelve hours. That is a historical example of an incident affecting funding operations, not evidence of a current outage or a forecast for another exchange: Coinbase’s May 7, 2026 incident postmortem.
