After completing The Ghost in the Portrait, Zero is free and unlocked as a companion. The quest is finished, but the Oogie Boogie storyline is not: this is week three of a six-week event. The next scheduled quest, Rescue Mission, is October 14, 2026.
What happens when the quest ends?
The quest concludes after you free Zero and confront Oogie Boogie. Zero is the immediate reward; Oogie Boogie is tied to the final stage of the event, not this quest.

You do not need to repeat the portrait objectives to progress. If you have finished the quest and nothing new appears, that is expected: the next stage is released on its scheduled date rather than unlocked early by completing this one.

| Stage | Scheduled date | Quest |
|---|---|---|
| Week 4 | October 14, 2026 | Rescue Mission |
| Week 5 | October 21, 2026 | Let the Games Begin |
| Week 6 | October 28, 2026 | Oogie Boogie’s Big Game |
The event releases one new challenge each week. Completing The Ghost in the Portrait does not make Rescue Mission available before October 14.
Can you finish the event later?
Yes, if you started the first Oogie Boogie quest before November 4, 2026. The official announcement says those players can complete the remaining quests at their own pace. After November 4, Oogie Boogie leaves the Valley, but players who began the first quest before the cutoff can still finish the questline and unlock him and Zero.

What should you keep from the quest?
Keep the five Lucky Wheel Cogs you collected. They may be relevant later, but their future use has not been confirmed, so treat them as quest items rather than assuming they unlock a particular reward.
The quest’s main objectives are to sabotage Oogie Boogie’s Lucky Wheel, collect five Zero Essence from drawings in the Mirror Lair, craft Real Ghostly Paint Thinner, use it from your inventory to upgrade the Royal Watering Can, and water the correct portrait. If you are still at one of those steps, check that the paint thinner was used from inventory and that you watered the intended portrait.
