Start with the glasses’ physical position: wear the frame level, adjust the nose pads and temples, and move it slightly until the virtual screen is centered. Then check model-specific IPD and nose-pad fit, clean the optical path, reduce the virtual screen size if only the edges are soft, and verify brightness and the video connection separately. Test each eye on its own; persistent blur on one side or an unlit display after these checks needs manufacturer service.
Begin with fit and centering
Most quick, reversible checks concern how the frame sits on your face. A few millimetres of tilt can move your pupils away from the clearest part of the display optics, making text look soft, the image appear off-center, or one edge seem worse than the other.

Level the frame
- Put the glasses on while looking at a stable, high-contrast object or a line of text.
- Keep the temples at the same height on both sides and make the frame level rather than rotated.
- Shift the frame slightly up or down until the virtual image is centered in both eyes.
- Adjust the nose pads and temple position so the frame stays in that position when you move your head.
RayNeo’s guidance describes the goal as to “adjust the position of the nose pad and the temples to find the best and most comfortable viewing angle.” That is a manufacturer instruction, not proof that every case of blur is caused by fit. If the image changes substantially when you move the frame, however, alignment is the most useful place to start.
Reduce the virtual screen when only the edges are blurry
If the center is sharp but characters or objects become soft near the perimeter, the virtual screen may be extending beyond your clearest viewing area. Reduce the screen size in the glasses’ display controls until important content sits nearer the center. This does not repair a damaged panel; it simply keeps more of the image inside the optical sweet spot.

Use the correct optical fit for your model
XR glasses do not share one universal pupil-distance or nose-pad standard. A setting that fits one model can be wrong for another, so use the instructions for the exact glasses you own.
IPD and pupil-height modules
For RayNeo GT Max, the support material specifies S, M and L optical modules for different interpupillary distances (IPD), along with S, M and L nose-pad heights for pupil position. Select the size intended for your measurements before deciding that the display is defective. The listed module and pad choices are specific to that model; do not assume their dimensions or labels transfer to another XR product.
Measure your IPD with the method recommended by the manufacturer or an optometry professional, and confirm that both optical modules are seated fully. A module that is only partly installed can make one side appear lower, dimmer or less focused.

A product-specific IPD range is not a general XR rule
An older RayNeo NXTWEAR S/S+ FAQ gives a suitable IPD range of 58–69 mm and says blurred surrounding corners can be normal for that family, with nose-pad angle adjustment recommended. Treat both statements as product-specific FAQ guidance. They do not establish a normal blur range for all XR glasses, and they should not be used to dismiss persistent blur on another model.
Check the lenses and any prescription insert
Clean both display lenses
Fingerprints, skin oil, dust and dried moisture scatter light and can look like a dim or hazy display. Power the glasses down, use a clean lens cloth and follow the manufacturer’s cleaning directions. Avoid abrasive paper or household cleaners unless the manual explicitly permits them. Inspect the lenses under an angled light; a film on only one lens can explain a one-sided symptom.
Verify a prescription insert
If you use prescription lenses, make sure the insert is the correct model and is fully seated in its mounting points. A tilted or partially clipped insert can move the prescription away from the display’s intended alignment. A model-compatible prescription insert or custom lens service may help a wearer who needs vision correction, but it is not a universal fix for a frame that is sitting crooked or for a faulty display.

1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteSeparate a dim image from a missing signal
“Dim” and “black” are different symptoms. A dim picture can result from brightness settings, while a completely black or “no signal” view points first to the source device, cable, adapter or an unlit display path.
When the picture is visible but too dark
- Raise the glasses’ brightness using their hardware control or display menu.
- Check the connected phone, tablet or computer for display-dimming, battery-saving or accessibility settings that alter output.
- Compare a bright menu or white background with normal content. If menus are bright but one application is dark, investigate that application’s settings rather than the glasses.
- Clean the lenses and remove anything covering the optical path before judging brightness.
These checks address dimness; they should not be presented as proof that a loose cable causes every dark image.

When the display is black or says no signal
- Disconnect and firmly reseat both ends of the video cable.
- Unlock the source device. Some phones suppress external-display output while locked.
- Confirm that the USB-C port you are using supports DisplayPort Alt Mode. A USB-C connector by itself does not guarantee video output.
- If an adapter or dock is involved, reconnect it in the specified order and provide its required power.
- Try another compatible port, cable or source device to isolate the failed link.
- After the connection is stable, check for available glasses firmware updates and apply them according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
An adapter can pass charging while failing to pass video, and two USB-C ports on the same computer can have different capabilities. Record which combinations work; that information is useful if you need support.

Close one eye, then the other, while looking at the same line of text. RayNeo’s support wording is: “Close one eye at a time to check whether the blurriness affects one side or both sides.” Note whether the blur is in the left view, right view or both, and whether moving the frame changes it.

- Both eyes blur in the same way: revisit frame level, optical-module or nose-pad selection, screen size, lens cleanliness and any prescription insert.
- Only one eye remains blurry: swap no settings blindly; check that side’s optical module, lens surface and insert seating, then repeat the cable and firmware checks if that side is also unlit.
- One side is completely unlit: determine whether the darkness follows the glasses side or the source orientation. If it remains unlit after connection checks, treat it as a possible hardware fault.
Persistent one-sided blur, an image that cannot be made clear anywhere in the field, or a side that stays unlit warrants manufacturer support. Provide the model, firmware version, selected IPD and nose-pad sizes, source device, cable or adapter used, and whether one or both eyes are affected.

A symptom-to-action guide
| Observed symptom | Most useful next check | What the result means |
|---|---|---|
| Entire image is soft and moves when the frame moves | Level the frame; adjust nose pads and temples | Changing clarity with position points to fit or alignment |
| Center is clear but corners are soft | Reduce virtual screen size; verify model-specific optical fit | Important content may be outside the clearest viewing area |
| One eye is consistently worse | Inspect that lens, module and prescription insert; test each eye separately | Persistent asymmetry needs model support after basic checks |
| Menus and video are visible but too dark | Increase glasses brightness and check source display settings | This is a brightness or optical-path investigation |
| Completely black or “no signal” | Reseat cable; verify unlocked source, DisplayPort Alt Mode, adapter power and another port | The video link or source capability is the first suspect |
| One side is unlit after connection and firmware checks | Document the failure and contact the manufacturer | A persistent unlit side may require service |
When accessories or service are appropriate
Replacement nose pads
A replacement nose pad can be sensible when the original is damaged or cannot hold the frame level. Buy only a pad confirmed for your exact glasses model; there is no source-backed universal XR nose pad standard. Search terms such as “XR glasses replacement nose pads” identify the accessory category, but verify dimensions, attachment method and return policy before purchase.
Prescription correction
Choose a prescription insert only when you need refractive correction and the insert is explicitly compatible with your model. It cannot correct a loose cable, a wrong IPD module, a dirty display lens or a failed panel.
Manufacturer support
Escalate after the reversible checks when blur remains one-sided, the whole image stays unusable, or a display side does not light. Include the exact symptoms rather than simply reporting “blurry”: say whether edges or the center are affected, whether the problem changes with frame position, whether brightness controls respond, and whether another source or cable changes it.
