Before paying for delivery, identify the exact model, record its boxed dimensions and shipping weight, measure the entire route from unloading point to room, and confirm what the delivery crew is actually contracted to do. Then choose stand or wall installation and verify the model-specific support, hardware, wall and outlet conditions.
Start with the exact model number
“100-inch TV” describes the screen diagonal, not the package that has to pass through your home. Carton size, shipping weight, stand footprint, VESA pattern, screw specification and mounting instructions vary by model and by market. Get the manufacturer’s support page or manual for the exact model and region before measuring your route or buying a mount.

What to record from the specifications
- Carton height, width and depth, including protective packaging.
- Carton or shipping weight, which determines lifting and handling requirements.
- Television weight without the stand and with the stand.
- Stand or foot spacing, total footprint and the minimum supporting furniture size.
- VESA hole spacing, screw diameter, screw length and any spacer requirements.
- Clearance instructions around the screen, ventilation openings and cable connections.
Example: Hisense 100U7N
Hisense Japan’s support entry for the 100U7N, updated July 31, 2025, lists a carton measuring 240.2 × 151.4 × 29.7 cm (94.6 × 59.6 × 11.7 inches) and a shipping weight of 97.0 kg (213.8 lb). The bare television weighs 60.0 kg, while the television with its stand weighs 62.5 kg. Hisense lists a minimum TV-stand top of 139.3 × 50.0 cm and a 600 × 400 mm VESA pattern.

These figures are an example, not a universal 100-inch-TV specification. A different model can have a larger carton, a different center of gravity or another mounting pattern.

Example: TCL 98QM7K mount requirement
The TCL 98QM7K quick-start guide lists a 500 × 600 mm VESA mount and says the mount must support at least five times the television’s net weight. That model-specific requirement shows why an “up to 100 inches” label is not enough to establish compatibility. Use the exact net weight and VESA dimensions from your own television’s guide when selecting hardware.
Measure the complete delivery route
Measure the path the boxed television will actually travel, not just the front door and not just the bare screen. A carton may need to be carried upright, tilted or rotated, and the crew needs room to turn it without striking walls or railings.
- Check the unloading point. Measure the distance from the truck or parking area to the entrance. Note loading restrictions, steps, slopes, gates and the distance over which the carton must be carried.
- Measure the exterior door. Record the clear opening with the door fully open, then account for the frame, hinges, handles, threshold and door swing. The clear opening can be smaller than the door slab measurement.
- Measure every interior door and hallway. Include the narrowest section, trim, radiators, shelves and furniture that cannot be moved. Record ceiling height where the carton may have to tilt.
- Check corners and turns. A straight width measurement does not prove that a long carton can pivot around a 90-degree corner. Measure the turning space at hall intersections and room entrances.
- Measure stairs and landings. Record stair width between handrails, the width at newel posts, ceiling height over the steps, landing dimensions and the direction of each turn.
- Measure the elevator. Get the clear door opening, interior width, depth, height and rated load. Include the lobby turn into the elevator and the turn out at your floor.
- Measure the final placement area. Check the wall or console width, floor space for the crew, outlet location and the clearance needed to unpack or mount the set.
Include banisters, light fixtures, ceiling fans, low beams and door closers in your measurements. Ask the retailer or carrier which dimensions and route conditions it uses to determine deliverability. Do not assume the crew will unpack the television to get through a tight section; many services plan around the boxed dimensions and will not accept that risk.

Confirm what the delivery service includes
A paid delivery appointment can mean anything from dropping the carton at the threshold to mounting and configuring the television. Read the actual provider’s terms for your country and order, then obtain the scope in writing.

Samsung US’s checklist places the statement “Lift or hoist TVs over objects or through windows to complete delivery” in the list of services that are not included. Treat that as a provider-specific exclusion, not as a universal industry rule. Ask your actual carrier whether it permits stairs, elevators, narrow turns, roof or balcony access, or any lifting equipment.
Questions to ask the retailer or carrier
- Is the service threshold, room-of-choice or a separate installation appointment?
- Will the crew unpack the television and remove the carton and foam?
- Is stand assembly included, and must the stand or feet be available before arrival?
- Does wall mounting include the bracket, wall anchors, spacers, cable concealment or only labor?
- Are stairs, long carries, elevators or multiple flights subject to limits or extra charges?
- Will the crew lift or hoist the carton, use a window, or refuse a route that requires those methods?
- Must an adult be present, and what identification or appointment window is required?
- Does an apartment, condominium or managed building require a certificate of insurance?
- Is old-TV removal offered, and must the old set be disconnected and placed at a specific location?
- What happens if the crew cannot access the room or the television arrives damaged?
Service terms are country- and provider-specific. Samsung US’s installation exclusions, for example, should not be treated as the rules for a different retailer or market.

Choose stand or wall installation before delivery
Decide where the television will go before the truck arrives. The choice affects the route, the people needed, the hardware on hand and whether the installer can work safely.

- Confirm whether the box includes a center stand, two feet or another support design.
- Measure the required foot spacing and compare it with the usable top of the console, not its outside width.
- Verify the furniture’s rated load and stability. A wide but lightweight cabinet can still tip when the screen is pushed or rotated.
- Keep the top level and free of objects that could interfere with the feet or ventilation.
- Provide the minimum surface specified by the manufacturer. The Hisense 100U7N listing calls for at least 139.3 × 50.0 cm.
- Plan cable bends and outlet access before placing the set; a wall or rear panel can block plugs after installation.
For a wall mount
Use the exact television manual to identify VESA spacing, screw type, screw length, washers or spacers, and the weight without the stand. Then check that the mount’s published load rating covers the television and that its VESA range includes every hole dimension. For the TCL 98QM7K, the guide specifies 500 × 600 mm and a mount rated for at least five times the net TV weight. That requirement applies to that model’s guide; it is not a general rule for every large television.

- Exact VESA width and height.
- Mount load rating compared with the model’s net weight.
- Correct screw diameter and length, with no screw bottoming out in the television.
- Required spacers and the mount’s permitted tilt or swivel range.
- Clearance behind the set for power, HDMI and antenna connectors.
Verify the wall, height and electrical location
Tell the installer what the wall is made of before the appointment. Wall material and thickness determine whether studs, masonry anchors or another approved fixing method is appropriate. Samsung Korea’s localized installation guidance notes that wall material and thickness matter and provides clearance guidance for its products.
- Stud-framed drywall: locate approved structural studs and confirm their spacing before drilling. Do not rely on drywall alone for a television of this size.
- Masonry, tile or stone: identify the substrate behind the finish and use anchors approved for that material. Tile and stone may require specialist drilling.
- Metal or nonstandard construction: ask the installer whether the proposed fasteners and reinforcement are acceptable before booking.
- Fireplace or high placement: confirm that the provider accepts the location. Samsung US installation terms exclude some high placements and fireplace locations.
- Electrical work: arrange an electrician if a new outlet, relocated outlet or in-wall cable route is needed. Samsung US installation service excludes electrical work.
- Clearance: leave the manufacturer’s specified space around the set and keep vents, speakers and connectors unobstructed.
Mark the intended centerline and viewing height with painter’s tape. Check seated eye level, reflections, nearby doors and whether the mount can be serviced later. The installer should approve the final anchor locations rather than adapting the bracket to an unsuitable wall after unpacking.
Plan safe handling and setup
Do not attempt a solo lift of a near-100-inch television. The carton can weigh close to 100 kg, and the panel can flex or twist when carried incorrectly. Keep children and pets away, clear rugs and furniture from the route, and protect floors and nearby surfaces.

Samsung’s official installation document says: “For 82-inch or larger models, have four or more people mount the television onto a wall.” This is a Samsung instruction for its products, not a universal staffing specification, but it illustrates the handling scale involved. Follow your model’s instructions and the delivery team’s directions.
Have these items ready
- The television, stand or mount, screws, spacers and manual at the installation location.
- A clear route from unloading point to the room, with doors unlocked and removable obstacles moved.
- A stable console if using a stand, or confirmed structural anchoring if using a wall.
- Accessible power and signal cables long enough for the final position.
- Photos of the wall and route if the provider requests a pre-installation assessment.
Inspect the carton for crushing, punctures or moisture before signing for delivery. If damage is visible, photograph it and follow the carrier’s reporting procedure before the carton is discarded.
Compare the two installation paths

If two delivery providers are available, compare room-of-choice coverage, stair and elevator limits, hoisting policy, installation scope, debris and old-set removal, whether delivery and installation are separate appointments, and the terms for access problems or damage. The cheapest appointment is not equivalent if it stops at the threshold.

- Measure unloading, doors, halls, corners, stairs, landings, elevators and the final room.
- Send unusual access details and measurements to the carrier and obtain confirmation.
- Choose stand or wall mounting and have the required furniture or hardware ready.
- Confirm wall construction, outlet position, clearances and any fireplace or high-placement restrictions.
- Confirm the service scope, crew requirements, appointment timing, building paperwork and removal options.
- Clear and protect the route, keep an adult available, and inspect the carton before signing.
Following these checks turns delivery from a guess about screen size into a documented plan based on the boxed television, the real route and the provider’s actual obligations.
