Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallOutdated Drivers Are Slowing You Down
One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchBefore connecting a Solana wallet to a decentralized application (dApp), verify the exact website, confirm how you reached it, and understand the request your wallet is showing. A connection, a signed message, and a signed transaction are different approvals. None should require your seed phrase or private key.
Use a separate wallet with only the funds needed for an unfamiliar app, inspect every prompt, and disconnect when finished. Disconnecting is not the same as revoking token permissions, so review approvals separately if you authorized one.

What a wallet connection does—and does not do
A dApp uses a wallet connection to identify an account and request actions through your wallet. The connection is an access relationship between the site and the wallet interface; it is not blanket consent for every later signature or transaction. You still decide whether to sign each request.

| Request | What it is for | What to check | Typical network effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Connect | Lets the dApp recognize the wallet account and present later requests. | Confirm the site origin and the account being connected. | No transaction is sent merely because you connected. |
| Sign a message | Proves control of the wallet, often for login or account linking. | Read the complete message, its purpose, domain, nonce or expiry if shown, and any terms. | Standard off-chain message signing does not itself require a network transaction, transaction fee, or RPC submission. |
| Sign a transaction | Authorizes an on-chain instruction such as a transfer, swap, approval, or delegate assignment. | Check accounts, recipients, amounts, instructions, fees, and permissions. | Can change on-chain balances or permissions and may be irreversible. |
Solana’s documentation warns against using a transaction simply to sign in. Compared with an off-chain message, a login transaction adds fees, RPC calls, latency, and extra risk. Someone accustomed to approving a transaction as a routine login step may be easier to trick into approving a harmful transaction later. Treat a transaction request as a financial authorization, not as an ordinary “log in” button.
Verify the site before you connect
Start from a trusted entry point
- Open the project’s official website using a bookmark you previously checked, or follow a link published by the project’s official site or verified social account.
- Do not use a link from an unsolicited direct message, a pop-up, a search advertisement, or a post promising an urgent reward until you independently verify it.
- Compare the address in your browser with the domain you expected before clicking “Connect.”
A page can copy a project’s branding, layout, and wording while using a different domain. Familiar colors or a logo are not proof of authenticity. Check the complete URL, including the spelling of the name, extra hyphens, substituted characters, unexpected subdomains, and the top-level domain. If the address differs from the one published by the project, close the tab and start again from an official source.
Check reputation, audits, and official communication
Solana’s user guidance recommends checking official websites, verified social accounts, available audit reports, and community reputation when deciding whether an app is legitimate. These checks reduce uncertainty; they do not guarantee that a current page or transaction is safe. A legitimate project can be impersonated, and a previously safe domain can later be compromised.
- Look for consistent links across the project’s official site and verified accounts.
- Read independent community reports for the exact domain and contract or program involved, not merely for a similarly named project.
- Use an audit as evidence about the reviewed code and scope, not as a guarantee that every front end, integration, or later update is safe.
- Ignore claims of guaranteed profits, limited-time giveaways, or pressure to act immediately.
Recognize support scams
Unsolicited “support” messages are a major warning sign. Solana advises that real support does not initiate private messages and that no legitimate airdrop needs your seed phrase. Never move a conversation to a private chat merely because someone claims to be an administrator, moderator, or wallet representative.
Never enter recovery words or a private key
A seed phrase (recovery phrase) and a private key control the wallet. A website, support agent, airdrop page, or dApp should never ask you to type either into a browser form. A normal connection uses the wallet interface; it does not reveal recovery words to the site.

- Keep recovery words offline and never paste them into a website, chat, form, screenshot, cloud note, or browser extension.
- Reject any “verification,” “synchronization,” “migration,” or “claim” flow that requests the phrase.
- If a page asks for the phrase after you click Connect, close it. Do not try a different phrase or provide a partial phrase.
- Do not approve a transaction intended to “fix,” “secure,” or “validate” a wallet unless you understand the exact on-chain instruction.
Anyone who obtains the phrase or private key can generally control the wallet without your permission. A hardware signing device can keep keys out of a browser, but it cannot make a malicious website or an unclear transaction safe; you must still inspect what the device asks you to approve.
Pause when the wallet asks you to trust a new origin
Some wallet prompts identify the website or API origin requesting a connection. If the origin is unfamiliar, stop and verify it independently before approving. Solana’s Actions guidance says wallets should show a connect-to-site prompt when first retrieving an Action from an unknown API. It also warns that a “blink” can execute on a different origin from the Action that displayed it.

That means a familiar-looking post or interface is not enough. Read the origin shown by the wallet, compare it with the project’s official domain, and reject the request if the two do not match or if you cannot explain why another origin is involved.
Previous connection history is only a clue. A site appearing in a wallet’s recently connected list does not prove that the current link, page, or request is genuine. Continue checking every prompt, even for an app you used before.
Review each message-signing request
Understand what a message proves
A message signature can prove that you control a wallet without sending a transaction, paying a network fee, or making a network call. That can be appropriate for login, account linking, or session authentication. It is still a cryptographic authorization from your wallet and deserves a careful read.

Prefer a standardized, human-readable message that identifies the domain and purpose. Be cautious with a raw or opaque message that contains unexplained data, a request to approve terms you did not open, or a signature that is unrelated to the action you initiated.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Use a message-signing checklist
- Did you initiate the login or action that produced the prompt?
- Does the message name the site you are actually using?
- Can you identify its purpose, expiration, nonce, and any stated terms?
- Does it ask for anything beyond proving wallet control?
- Would you be comfortable showing the full message to a security-conscious friend?
If the wallet displays an unreadable payload or you cannot determine what signing will authorize, reject it and ask the project for an explanation through a public, verified channel. Do not let urgency turn an unexplained signature into an automatic approval.
Inspect transaction prompts as financial instructions
A transaction can transfer assets, exchange tokens, create an account, grant a delegate, or change permissions. Before signing, compare the wallet preview with the action you intended to perform. If the description is incomplete or contradictory, cancel.
Check the destination and amount
- For a transfer, verify the full recipient address and the exact asset and amount.
- For a swap, check the input token, output token, minimum received amount, fees, and any deadline shown.
- For a deposit or withdrawal, confirm the destination account and the network or program involved.
- For a mint or claim, make sure the recipient account and quantity match your action.
Do not rely on a shortened address, an address-book label, or a familiar avatar alone. Compare the complete address where the wallet makes it available.
Look for permissions and asset movement
Read for token approvals, delegate permissions, authority changes, account closures, and instructions that move assets. A request can appear to be a free claim while also granting another account permission to transfer tokens within an approved limit.

Stop when the wallet’s description is unclear, when a transaction includes instructions you did not expect, or when the requested authority is broader than the task requires. A small network fee does not mean the transaction is harmless; the important question is what it authorizes.
Use simulation and previews correctly
Solana’s official Actions guidance states: “As with dApps, Action transactions are always simulated prior to execution.” A wallet preview or simulation can reveal expected account changes and help identify an unexpected instruction. It is a safety aid, not a trust certificate. A simulation does not prove that the website is legitimate or that you should sign the transaction. Use it alongside domain verification and your own review of the requested action.
Limit exposure on an unfamiliar dApp
If you decide to test an app whose reputation or purpose is not yet established, reduce the amount you could lose. Use a separate wallet for experimentation and keep only the funds needed for the specific interaction. A small test amount can help you confirm that the intended operation works before committing more.
- Keep long-term holdings in a wallet that is not routinely connected to new sites.
- Fund the testing wallet with only the asset and network fee required for the task.
- Use a separate browser profile or device profile for wallet work if practical.
- Record the domain and wallet account you used so you can review them later.
These measures limit exposure; they do not make a malicious request safe. A harmful approval can affect the assets in the connected account, and a convincing interface can still direct you to an unintended recipient.

Disconnecting is not the same as revoking permissions
Disconnect from a dApp when you are finished, especially on a shared computer. Disconnection removes the active connection between the site and wallet interface, but it may not undo an on-chain approval that you already signed.

Solana’s spend-permissions documentation describes token-account delegates. A delegate can transfer tokens within the amount approved by the owner, and the owner can revoke that delegation. The permission is limited to the approved amount; it is not automatically exposure of the wallet’s entire balance. Nevertheless, an approval you no longer trust should be reviewed and revoked separately.
When to review approvals
- You signed a transaction containing an approval or delegate instruction.
- A site behaved unexpectedly after you approved it.
- You connected to a look-alike domain or cannot identify the transaction’s program.
- You no longer use the app and want to remove permissions granted to it.
Use the wallet’s own permission controls or documentation from a trusted wallet provider to identify and revoke approvals. Do not follow an unsolicited “revoke now” link from a stranger, and do not enter your seed phrase into a revoke tool.
What to do if you suspect compromise
Act quickly, but do not let a second scam exploit your fear. An unsolicited person offering to “recover” funds may be trying to obtain your recovery words or induce another malicious transaction.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →- Stop signing messages and transactions from the suspect site.
- If the seed phrase or private key may have been exposed, create a new wallet using a trusted wallet process and move remaining assets to it. Treat the old wallet as compromised.
- If only a suspicious approval is involved, review and revoke the relevant token delegation, then check balances and recent activity.
- Document the wallet addresses, transaction signatures, assets, and amounts involved.
- Report the incident through the project’s verified support channel and appropriate official channels.
- Ignore recovery offers sent by unsolicited direct message.
Moving assets to a new wallet does not erase the old wallet’s history or permissions, so preserve your records and continue monitoring the old account for activity.
A repeatable pre-approval decision test
Before selecting Connect, Sign, or Approve, answer all five questions:
- Origin: Is the exact domain the one published by the official project, and does the wallet show the same origin?
- Initiation: Did you start this action, or did an unsolicited message, pop-up, or reward claim push you into it?
- Request type: Is this only a connection, an understandable off-chain message, or an on-chain transaction?
- Effects: Which account, asset, recipient, amount, program, approval, or delegate will change?
- Recovery: If you approve it, do you know how to disconnect, review permissions, and revoke an unwanted delegation?
If any answer is unknown, reject the prompt and verify the details through an official source. Convenience is not a reason to sign an instruction you cannot explain.
