Before buying an app that claims to connect Freshdesk, Slack, and Salesforce, verify that it supports your exact workflow across all three systems—not just separate pairwise integrations. Check its data flows, permissions, security and privacy terms, plan requirements, limits, support, and offboarding process, then test it with realistic data in a sandbox before committing.
1. Does it support the workflow you actually need?
Write down the events that should trigger an action, the records involved, where information should go, and who needs to see or change it. Ask the vendor to demonstrate that end-to-end sequence using the specific app you are evaluating.

- Which Freshdesk tickets, Slack messages or channels, and Salesforce records are involved?
- What starts the workflow: a new ticket, a status change, a Slack message, or a CRM update?
- Does data move one way or both ways? Which system is authoritative when information differs?
- Can users take action in the destination system, or do they only receive a notification?
Official documentation describes distinct examples, not a guaranteed all-in-one connection. Freshdesk’s Freshdesk–Slack documentation describes ticket notifications to channels or agents and creating tickets from Slack messages. Its Salesforce Connector documentation describes an agent-facing CRM widget and optional contact and account sync. Slack also documents Salesforce capabilities separately in Connect Salesforce and Slack. None of these examples establishes that an unnamed app combines the same functions across all three products.
2. Which records and fields can it read or change?
Get a specific list of supported objects and fields, and confirm whether each is read-only or writable. For sync, determine how the app matches records, avoids or handles duplicates, and lets you control mappings and direction.

- Can you select which fields sync, and map fields yourself?
- What happens to existing records during initial sync or backfill?
- How are conflicting edits resolved, and can that behavior be configured?
- Are failed jobs visible? How are errors reported, retried, and recovered?
- Can you pause or replay a sync without creating duplicates?
Freshdesk’s Salesforce Connector guidance describes contact and account sync, field selection and mapping, recipe testing, and a job dashboard. Treat that as an example of one product’s documented behavior, not a feature guarantee for another app. Ask the vendor to show these controls and explain their limits.
3. Are the requested permissions proportionate?
Request the app’s exact Slack scopes, Salesforce OAuth scopes, and Freshdesk permissions or API-key requirements. For every permission, ask which feature needs it and whether the app can work with a narrower role or a dedicated integration identity.
Slack explains that app scopes determine what information an app can access and how it can use it; requested permissions are shown during installation. Freshdesk’s Salesforce Connector setup calls for a Salesforce connected app and a Freshdesk API key. Those requirements may not match the app you are assessing, so obtain its own setup instructions before authorizing access.

Ask how credentials are stored, who can access them, how they are rotated, and how access is revoked. Freshdesk warns that resetting an API key can disconnect other apps using that key, so identify dependencies and coordinate any rotation.

4. What happens to your data?
Ask the app vendor to specify what it reads, copies, stores, processes, or shares with subprocessors; where processing and storage occur; how long data is retained; and how deletion works when records or the subscription are removed. Review encryption, incident-notification terms, data-transfer arrangements, and the applicable data-processing agreement.
These answers are app-specific. Freshdesk’s Marketplace Apps FAQ says practices vary by app and directs customers to the developer for questions about privacy, personal-data processing, transfers, and erasure. Marketplace publication by itself does not establish that an app meets a particular regulatory or contractual requirement.
5. Does access respect the right users and audiences?
For features that expose or change Salesforce data in Slack, ask how Slack users map to Salesforce users, which identity performs API operations, and how record- and field-level access is applied. Slack’s Salesforce-in-Slack guidance describes Salesforce permissions as governing data shown or changed in Slack, but behavior depends on the feature.

Review the chosen app’s handling of record previews, notifications, channels, guests, and shared workspaces. Confirm that sensitive ticket or CRM details will not be posted to a channel with a broader audience than intended, and test the behavior using representative user roles.

6. What security and reliability evidence can the vendor provide?
Ask for app-specific security documentation and, where relevant, independent assessment reports. Establish how the vendor handles vulnerabilities and incidents, what uptime commitment applies, how backup and recovery work, and what support response times are contractual. Request references from customers with comparable scale and workflows if those matter to your decision.
Do not treat marketplace review as certification or an operational guarantee. Slack states: “Though we review all apps in the Slack Marketplace, including their requested permissions, Slack doesn’t endorse or certify these apps.” Freshdesk Support’s Marketplace Apps FAQ says: “Currently, the app review process consists of the required security checks and ensuring that the app serves its intended purpose. Checks on service reliability or scalability aren’t covered by app review yet.” The app vendor’s own evidence and contract are what you need to assess.
7. What is the full cost, including plan prerequisites?
Price the whole setup, not just the integration listing. Check required plans on Freshdesk, Slack, and Salesforce; whether specific features require paid tiers or add-ons; how users, seats, events, or tasks are counted; what happens at usage limits; and whether implementation, renewal, or migration costs apply.

That is a product-specific figure from that article, not a quote for every integration; confirm current prices and how the app you are evaluating counts and bills usage.

8. Can it handle your volume and API limits?
Estimate normal and peak ticket, message, and CRM activity, then test with realistic volume. Ask how the app responds to throttling, whether it retries safely, how it prevents a backlog from growing, and how administrators see and recover delayed or failed work.
Freshdesk Support’s API rate-limit page, modified 2026-08-06, lists plan-based per-minute limits of 100 calls for Growth, 400 for Pro, and 700 for Enterprise, with zero listed for Free in its table. Endpoint maximums can also vary, and Freshdesk says the transition from hourly to per-minute limits is being rolled out in batches. Verify which limit applies to your account and endpoints rather than assuming the table is universally active.

Confirm the required administrator roles, account mapping, supported regions and editions, sandbox availability, and any network or IP restrictions. Slack’s current Salesforce connection guidance says Government Cloud Salesforce orgs cannot be connected and notes that Salesforce IP restrictions may affect features. Check the vendor’s documentation for the exact app and feature you plan to use.
Freshdesk’s Slack integration article was modified 2022-06-27. It includes an older feature matrix and notes a regional restriction for the create_fd_ticket slash command. Because that documentation is dated, confirm current availability and regional applicability with Freshdesk before relying on the command.

Use a controlled pilot rather than enabling every workflow at once:
- Connect a sandbox or test environment, if supported, and use representative records and user roles.
- Verify field mappings, permissions, notifications, duplicate handling, errors, and recovery against the intended workflow.
- Start with a limited group or channel and name an owner to monitor sync status and failures.
- Document how to pause the integration, roll back changes, revoke credentials, and remove the app.
10. Who owns support and offboarding?
Establish in writing whether Freshworks, Slack, Salesforce, or the third-party app vendor handles each kind of problem. Record the support contact, escalation route, maintenance process, compatibility policy, and responsibilities for migration and offboarding. Freshdesk says app-specific support details appear on the listing and third-party marketplace vendors are independent; behavior after subscription changes or migration depends on the vendor.
Before signing, ensure the vendor explains how to export or recover relevant data, stop processing, remove credentials, and preserve any records your team must retain when the subscription ends.
