Before buying a Samsung laptop, compare the exact model code and configuration—not just the Galaxy Book family name. Match its processor and graphics, screen, RAM, storage, ports, weight, battery claims, and regional support terms to the work you actually do and the devices you already own.
Start with your workload and must-haves
Write down the applications you use, the peripherals you need to connect, your preferred screen size, how often you carry the laptop, and the memory and storage you expect to need. Use those requirements to narrow the choices before comparing prices. “Latest processor” and “AI PC” labels alone do not establish that a particular configuration is right for you.

Samsung’s U.S. Galaxy Book comparison lists the Galaxy Book6 Ultra, Galaxy Book6 Pro, Galaxy Book6, and Galaxy Book6 Touch. Its positioning and specifications are manufacturer claims, not independent performance testing. Configurations differ, so check the listing for the exact model code you intend to buy.

Samsung lists 14-inch and 16-inch models across its comparison. A larger display may be more comfortable for desk work, while a smaller, lighter configuration may be easier to carry; compare actual dimensions and weights rather than assuming every model in a family is the same. Display choices include AMOLED and IPS, and touch availability varies. Check the specification for the exact configuration.

Choose processor, graphics, RAM, and storage for your apps
Processor and graphics
Match the processor and graphics option to the applications you run. Samsung lists NVIDIA graphics on some Galaxy Book6 Ultra configurations and integrated graphics options on other models. That distinction is a reason to verify the SKU against your software needs, not a blanket ranking of performance. If a specific application has platform or hardware requirements, check those requirements before buying.
Memory and storage
Samsung lists options such as 16 GB or 32 GB of RAM and 512 GB or 1 TB of storage on some models, but not every option is available on every model or configuration. Confirm the selected SKU’s capacity before checkout. Choose memory for the applications you use at once and storage for your files and installed software; do not assume a family-wide specification applies to the individual listing.
Check the screen and portability in person or on the spec sheet
Compare screen size, panel type, touch support, dimensions, and weight together. A 16-inch display can suit a mostly stationary setup, while a 14-inch model may be more convenient to transport, but the actual weight and chassis dimensions are what matter for your bag and routine. If anti-glare, AMOLED, or touch input is important to you, verify that feature for the exact model code rather than relying on a product-family description.

Audit the ports against your existing devices
Samsung lists different combinations of HDMI, USB-C or Thunderbolt, USB-A, card-reader, and networking connections across models. Before buying, make a short list of what you connect—such as a monitor, external drive, wired network, or memory card—and check the selected laptop’s built-in ports against it.
A USB-C hub with HDMI and USB-A can help when a needed connection is missing, but it is not necessary for every buyer. Check port type and capability on the exact configuration first; a connector’s shape alone does not tell you every supported function.
Interpret battery figures as estimates, not promises
Samsung lists “up to 30 hours” of video playback for Galaxy Book6 Ultra and “up to 24 hours” for Galaxy Book6 in its product information and comparison. These are Samsung estimates, not guarantees of everyday runtime. Actual battery life depends on conditions, settings, and usage.

For Galaxy Book5, Samsung states “up to 19 hours” of video runtime based on local 1080p video playback under specified settings, and says results vary with settings, usage, and other factors. That controlled playback figure should not be treated as a prediction for video calls, web browsing, or a mixed workday. Compare battery claims only with their stated test conditions.

If you are replacing an older Windows laptop, check that your essential applications and peripherals work with the new laptop’s operating system and processor platform. Samsung’s Windows transition information notes that some apps may need manual reinstallation and some may not be compatible with Arm devices; verify compatibility for any app you rely on before selecting a platform.
Samsung states that Windows 10 support ended on October 14, 2025. Windows 10 PCs no longer receive Microsoft security updates, feature updates, or technical support, according to Samsung’s transition information. If you are moving from a Windows 10 computer, plan for the migration rather than assuming every program or setting will transfer automatically.

Verify the model code, warranty, and seller
Before paying, record the full model code and compare it with the configuration shown in the listing. Samsung’s U.S. support page provides paths to model lookup, manuals and software, warranty information, troubleshooting, and repair requests. Check the warranty terms that apply to the exact SKU, purchase country, seller, and purchase date; the U.S. support page does not establish one warranty duration for all products and markets.
Retailer prices, stock, seller identity, return conditions, and the best-value configuration can change. Compare like-for-like model codes and configurations, and read the seller’s return and warranty terms before ordering. Features advertised by Samsung or Windows may also require compatible accounts, devices, network access, or software versions; check the relevant feature’s requirements if it is essential to your purchase.
