Check warranty coverage for the exact model and destination
Do not assume that a manufacturer’s warranty follows a laptop worldwide. Coverage can depend on the model or machine type, the country where you want service, who sold the device, and whether it is new or refurbished.

Lenovo International Warranty Service (IWS) applies only to eligible machine types in countries where that machine type is announced, sold, and supported. HP’s worldwide warranty policy describes transfer of service where support is offered for the same model, but terms, response times, parts availability, and importer responsibilities can vary by region. Review HP’s international warranty information and confirm the listing’s exact model and seller with HP. Keep the invoice and written warranty and return terms.

Compare the imported configuration with the local one
Model names can cover different regional configurations. Ask the seller or manufacturer to confirm the specific unit’s details rather than relying on a product-family name or a photograph.
- Keyboard: Check the printed layout, including the placement and labeling of keys. A software setting can change the input language, but it does not change the physical legends or layout.
- Operating system: Confirm the installed language, available language options, and that the license is appropriate for the device and your intended use.
- Hardware: Compare processor, memory, storage, display, and wireless configuration with the local version. Do not assume that similarly named models have identical components.
- In the box: Confirm which charger, power cord, and accessories are included, and whether a regional power cord is available.
Verify charger input, plug, and wireless approvals
Power supply and outlet plug
Read the input range printed on the charger and check it against the destination’s electrical supply and the laptop maker’s documentation. Lenovo notes that “Electrical power and plugs vary throughout the world.” A plug adapter changes the physical connection only; it does not convert voltage or make an incompatible charger safe. If the charger supports the destination supply and only the plug shape differs, a destination-appropriate travel plug adapter may be sufficient. Wireless hardware and local rules
Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and cellular WWAN components can be subject to country-specific telecom and spectrum requirements. Confirm that the exact configuration is approved for use in your destination rather than inferring approval from the brand or from its operation in the country of sale. Lenovo directs buyers to product-specific regulatory information in its regulatory information guidance.
Calculate the full cost and plan for returns
Compare the imported laptop’s realistic delivered cost with the local equivalent, not just the listing price. Include currency conversion, shipping, duties or taxes that may apply, and the cost of returning or shipping the laptop for repair. Import charges depend on the origin, destination, seller, and shipping arrangement; consult the relevant official customs authority for current rules. HP notes that international transfers remain subject to applicable import and export rules and that tariffs or duties may arise in its international warranty information.
