What to verify before checkout
Confirm the Mac and the seller
Record the full model name or model identifier and configuration: chip or generation, memory, storage, screen size, finish, and included accessories where applicable. Confirm whether the Mac is new, refurbished, or open-box, and check that the seller named on the listing and invoice is the reseller whose authorization you verified. A retailer carrying Apple products does not establish that every marketplace seller or listing is authorized.

Make sure the order confirmation or invoice reflects the same model, condition, and seller. If those details differ from the listing, resolve the discrepancy before paying.

Read the seller’s return policy
Save the reseller’s policy page or obtain written confirmation before placing the order. Check the return period and when it begins, whether opened computers are returnable, any restocking fee, packaging requirements, who pays return shipping, and how the refund is issued. Apple states that authorized resellers in the United States and Canada set their own return and refund policies: Apple Authorized U.S. and Canada Reseller Return and Refund Policy. Check local reseller terms and consumer protections if buying elsewhere.

Apple describes a conditional route for certain U.S. and Canadian purchases if an authorized reseller refuses a return. Among the requirements, the buyer must contact Apple within 14 days of purchase and provide qualifying proof of purchase; the receipt must show the reseller’s name and address, product or version, purchase date, and price, and the receipt name must match the return name. This is not a general return window or a guarantee that Apple will accept any reseller purchase for any reason. Read the full policy and its conditions.
Check coverage for the actual unit
Ask for the serial number of the specific Mac being offered and use Apple’s Check Coverage service. Review the coverage and benefits shown for that serial number, and resolve any mismatch before paying. A generic product-page claim cannot confirm the coverage of a particular unit; no individual Mac’s serial number has been verified here.

Keep the receipt and coverage documents
Retain the original, legible sales receipt and order confirmation. Apple says the original receipt may be needed to update device records. Its guidance calls for a clear device description, purchase date, receipt or invoice number, price, reseller contact information, and the serial number if that seller normally includes it. Keep AppleCare’s Proof of Coverage letter too, if applicable. See Apple’s receipt-retention guidance, published March 20, 2025.
Compare the discount fairly
Compare offers for the same model, configuration, and condition—not just similar product names. Include taxes, shipping, included items, seller identity, return terms, serial-specific coverage, and any warranty or AppleCare documentation. A lower headline price may reflect less memory or storage, a different condition, or less favorable return terms. Without current listings for a specified country and configuration, there is no reliable way to identify a fair current price or the best deal.

Apple’s U.S. Store policy describes a price-adjustment request within 14 calendar days for eligible Apple Store price reductions, with exclusions for limited-time reductions and special sales events. Use the same checklist for every offer
- Exact model and configuration
- New, refurbished, or open-box condition
- Seller identity and authorization for that specific sale
- Total price, including tax and shipping
- Return window, conditions, fees, and shipping responsibility
- Coverage result for the unit’s serial number
- Included warranty or AppleCare documentation
