The name covers different processors and operating systems, so compare the exact model, memory, storage, condition, seller terms and warranty—not just the discount percentage.
Start by identifying the exact configuration
Lenovo sells Legion Go S configurations with AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme or Ryzen Z2 Go processors, and with Windows or SteamOS. A product-family name or photo alone does not establish which one a seller is offering. Record the model or machine type from the listing, then match it against Lenovo’s product or support information for your country.

That is one configuration, not a specification sheet for every Legion Go S. Windows may suit buyers who rely on Windows-specific launchers, games, anti-cheat systems or desktop applications. Before choosing either version, check current compatibility for the particular games and software you need; support can change, and no operating system is the universal best choice for every library. If you depend on non-Steam launchers or work software, verify the steps and limitations for your use case before buying.
Compare like with like when judging the discount
A percentage off is not enough to establish value. Compare the offer with another listing for the same processor, operating system, RAM, storage and condition. No current official US retail listing was published, so avoid treating an old launch price or a past promotion as today’s fair-price benchmark.

- Match the serial or model information on the unit to the listing and warranty lookup where available.
Know what the hardware offers—and what one review cannot promise
Lenovo’s CES 2025 family announcement lists an 8-inch WUXGA, 16:10, 120Hz touchscreen, a 55.5Wh battery, 730g weight, two USB4 ports, Wi-Fi 6E and a microSD reader. These are announced family specifications; verify the exact configuration and regional listing before purchase.
Performance and battery reports depend on the unit and test conditions. Tom’s Guide reviewed a SteamOS/Z1 Extreme model with 32GB RAM and 1TB storage, and compared it with a Windows/Z2 Go model with 16GB RAM. Because processor, memory and operating system differed, those results are not a controlled comparison of operating systems alone.
In a Doom: The Dark Ages test, Tom’s Guide reported a battery warning after about an hour and a half on the SteamOS/Z1 Extreme unit, at 1200p in Performance mode with a 30W TDP setting. The reviewer also reported loud fans. Treat those as observations from that review and its workload—not a guaranteed runtime or noise level for every Legion Go S. Settings and games affect battery use.
Include accessories only if they solve a real need
The microSD reader provides an option for expandable storage, and the two USB4 ports can connect displays or peripherals. Lenovo also announced a Legion Go S screen protector. Before budgeting for an accessory, confirm that it fits the exact model and that the listing does not already include it. For charging accessories, check USB-C Power Delivery and wattage compatibility rather than assuming any USB-C charger or dock will work as intended.
