Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallBefore buying a digital game, confirm that it works on your exact device, that the selected edition includes the content you want, and that its online, account, storage, and refund conditions suit you. Check the individual game listing and the store’s policy for your region; a franchise page or another platform’s rules are not enough.
Use this checklist on the exact store listing
- Match the platform and generation. Look for your exact system, such as PS4 or PS5, Xbox console or PC, original Switch or Switch 2. A game or franchise appearing in search does not prove compatibility with your device.
- Check the edition and what it includes. Confirm whether the listing is for the full game, a remaster, an upgrade pack, downloadable content (DLC), a season pass, or bonus items. Read the included-content details before checkout.
- Verify play requirements. Check local and online player modes, cross-play, internet access, account requirements, paid online membership, and any controller or accessory needs.
- Confirm who can play it. Find out which account owns the digital entitlement and how it works on other consoles or profiles, including whether internet access is needed.
- For PC, compare system requirements and storage. Check the specific game’s operating system, processor, graphics, memory, and free-space requirements against your computer.
- Read the regional refund rules before starting a download. Downloading, streaming, preloading, or launching can affect eligibility, and the rules differ by store, product type, and location.
- Review the final checkout screen. Confirm the edition, platform, regional price, tax, and any recurring subscription or add-on cost before paying.
Will this version work on my console or PC?
PlayStation and Xbox
Check the platform labels on the particular product page. A listing may cover more than one console generation or include PC or cloud capabilities, but that does not mean every feature is available on every device. The Halo Infinite Xbox listing, for example, displays supported platforms and multiplayer features; those details apply to that game, not every Xbox title.

Read the system compatibility and edition details carefully. Nintendo says only select Switch games have Switch 2 Edition upgrade packs, pack contents vary, and Switch 2 Edition features may be playable only on Switch 2. An edition may include the original Switch game plus an upgrade pack; eligible Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members may have access to some packs under the applicable conditions. Check the exact game and current listing. Nintendo’s Switch 2 Edition upgrade guidance explains the model.

PC
“PC” does not establish that a game will run well—or run at all—on a particular computer. Compare the store’s minimum and recommended operating system, CPU, GPU, RAM, and storage figures with your hardware. Also check whether the game requires a separate launcher or account, and make sure you are buying from the storefront whose entitlement and refund rules you intend to use.
Does the edition include the game and DLC you want?
Do not infer contents from the title, cover art, or a franchise bundle name. Open the edition’s included-content list and distinguish the base game from an upgrade, expansion, season pass, or cosmetic add-on. Nintendo’s Minecraft for Nintendo Switch listing, for instance, says the full game is required to use DLC and notes that some included packs need to be downloaded through the in-game store.
For a Switch 2 Edition, check whether you are buying the complete game or an upgrade pack for a game you already own. Nintendo says pack contents differ by title, so one game’s upgrade does not establish what another includes.

Can you play the way you expect without extra services?
Check supported player counts and modes, online access, cross-play, required accounts, and paid memberships before paying. Store listings often state these details, but verify the specific game rather than assuming the whole platform has one rule.
Nintendo’s Minecraft listing identifies its supported play modes and says online features require internet access, a Nintendo Account, and Nintendo Switch Online membership. Nintendo also notes that exceptions to online-membership requirements exist, so check the named game’s listing and Nintendo’s product details rather than assuming every Switch game requires a subscription. For Xbox, use the individual listing to check multiplayer and cross-platform features; the Halo Infinite listing is one example of how those capabilities may be displayed.
Who owns the purchase, and can other household users play?
A digital purchase is an account entitlement, and household access depends on the platform’s sharing setup. Do not assume that one payment automatically gives every profile access on every console or that the game will always work offline.

Nintendo says digital purchases are tied to the Nintendo Account that bought them. Its current support guidance describes virtual game cards that can be loaded on up to two consoles: when a card is loaded, any user on that console can play the game. On a console that cannot load a virtual game card, the purchasing account can play with an internet connection, while other users on that console cannot. See Nintendo Australia’s digital-purchase guidance for the details and conditions.
What happens if you change your mind?
Refund rules depend on the platform, region, and type of purchase. Read the relevant policy before downloading, streaming, preloading, or launching; do not apply one store’s window to another. Local consumer law and faulty-content exceptions may affect the result.
PlayStation Store: US policy
Sony’s US policy generally allows a game or DLC refund request within 14 days of purchase only if downloading or streaming has not started. Faulty content and rights under local law are treated separately. Preorder timing depends on how far ahead of release you bought it, and the main product must not have started downloading or preloading. Automatic downloads can start if enabled. Item types such as subscriptions, in-game consumables, wallet funds, and voucher purchases have separate treatment. Start with PlayStation’s refund request guidance and read the US cancellation policy.

Xbox and Microsoft Store
For Xbox game refund requests, Microsoft directs customers to Xbox Support’s digital-game refund flow. Microsoft’s Windows PC guidance says digital goods, including games and add-ons, are generally nonrefundable unless the offer or applicable law provides eligibility; online returns vary by market, and an individual item in a bundle cannot be returned. These are not a single blanket policy for Xbox and PC. See Microsoft’s refund guidance and follow the route for the store where you purchased the game.
Nintendo eShop: US policy
Nintendo of America says payments through Nintendo Account services, including pre-purchases and subscriptions, are final and non-refundable except when Nintendo authorizes a refund or applicable law requires one. This is the US policy; check the terms for your own region. See Nintendo of America’s digital-products policy.

Steam has its own refund policy and separate preorder guidance. Check the current rules for your purchase and region directly in Steam’s refund information and pre-order guidance rather than relying on an abbreviated summary or assuming Steam follows another PC store’s rules.

Compare editions or storefronts before checkout
If you have more than one option, compare the same details for each instead of judging by headline price alone:
- Supported console generation, PC storefront, operating system, or cloud platform.
- Exact edition contents, including the base game, DLC, and upgrade eligibility.
- Any platform-specific upgrade price or existing-game requirement.
- For PC, required hardware and storage.
- Offline and online play, cross-play, accounts, and subscription needs.
- Which account owns the entitlement and how household access works.
- Regional price and tax shown at checkout.
- Refund and preorder rules for that store and region.
Prices and taxes depend on the checkout region, so use the final store screen rather than assuming a price seen elsewhere applies to you.
