Before you buy, confirm the exact 65-inch model and compare its tested performance with your room, devices, and viewing habits. A sale label alone does not establish value: two TVs with the same screen size—or even the same broad display technology—can differ substantially in picture quality, connections, and features.
Start with the exact model, size, and condition
Write down the manufacturer, full model number, screen size, series or model year, and whether the listing is for a new, refurbished, or open-box set. Compare like with like: a listing for another size in the same series may not have the same specifications, and a different condition changes what you are buying.

Use reviews and specifications for that exact variant rather than assuming that labels such as “OLED,” “QLED,” or “Mini LED” tell the whole story. RTINGS’ 65-inch TV guide compares models across picture quality, inputs, HDR, and gaming features; its comparison tool can help organize model-to-model differences.

Match picture performance to your room
Bright rooms and reflections
If the TV will face windows or lamps, look for measured brightness and reflection handling in model-specific testing. A bright picture alone does not guarantee that reflections will be unobtrusive, so consider where the screen will sit and when you usually watch.

Dark rooms and contrast
For evening viewing or a home theater, compare black levels, contrast, and local-dimming behavior, including whether bright objects create visible blooming around them. OLED sets are known for deep blacks and strong motion handling; QLED models are commonly associated with bright, vivid color. Those are broad tendencies, not guarantees about every model. RTINGS’ QLED-versus-OLED overview emphasizes that the better choice depends on the viewer’s priorities.
Seating spread
If people watch from seats well to the side, check viewing-angle performance. A TV that looks good from directly in front may show a less consistent picture from off-axis seats.
Check motion and processing for what you watch
Sports and fast action make motion handling worth comparing. Processing also matters when the source is lower quality, such as older broadcasts or compressed streams. Look for independent testing of the specific TV rather than relying on a feature label or a claim that it is “great for sports.”
Verify HDR performance and format support
HDR is not a single specification. Check both the set’s tested HDR brightness and the formats it supports, then match those formats to the streaming services, games, and discs your household uses. A TV can support an HDR format without delivering the same HDR impact as another model; brightness and format compatibility are separate comparison points.
Make sure the connections fit your console or PC
For gaming, check the native refresh rate, variable refresh rate (VRR) support, and the capabilities of each HDMI input. Do not assume every port supports the same resolution and refresh-rate combinations just because the product page uses a general “HDMI 2.1” or high-refresh label. Confirm that the particular input you plan to use supports the console or PC setup you have in mind.

Compare the checkout price with the same model’s recent price history and with other 65-inch TVs that offer similar performance and features. A large markdown from a retailer’s displayed reference price is not, by itself, proof that the offer is unusually good.
As one limited point of reference, RTINGS’ 2026 under-$2,000 guide says the 65-inch LG C6 is regularly below $2,000 during frequent sales. That is a reported price-tier observation, not a live offer, a historical price chart, or a guarantee for every retailer or market. Check current listings before relying on it.
Include practical costs and terms in your decision: delivery, installation, any mounting needs, the return window, and warranty coverage. A lower sticker price may not be the better purchase if the total cost or terms are less favorable.
Quick Recap
Use this checklist before checkout
- Confirm the full model number, 65-inch size variant, and new, refurbished, or open-box condition.
- Check brightness and reflection handling for a bright room, or black performance and contrast for dark-room viewing.
- Review viewing angles if seats are spread across the room.
- Compare motion and processing if you watch sports, fast action, or lower-quality video.
- Verify HDR brightness and supported formats against the content you use.
- Match each HDMI input, native refresh rate, and VRR support to your gaming devices.
- Compare the offer with that model’s price history and similarly capable alternatives; then check delivery, returns, installation, and warranty terms.
