If you own the Fyreslayers Saga Axeband Spearhead, the safest next purchase is another unit of Hearthguard Berzerkers: they add to the elite infantry you already have and appear on the announced Battletome: Khazalite Holds roster. However, Warhammer Community announced a major rules transition in October 2026. Several units in the current Spearhead are moving to Warhammer Legends, so confirm the new battletome, model availability and your event’s legality policy before spending for competitive play.
Start with the October 2026 rules change
Your buying decision depends on which rules environment you intend to play in. A Warhammer Community update published in October 2026 says that Vulkite Berzerkers, Battlesmiths, Auric Runemasters, Doomseekers, Grimwrath Berzerkers, Magmic Battleforges and Magmic Invocations will move to Warhammer Legends. The article says these units will come off sale and remain usable in competitive events for one year after the new battletome releases, after which they move to Legends. It does not establish a universal legality policy for every event.

The same update describes a more elite direction for Fyreslayers and lists the announced roster as including Auric Hearthguard, Hearthguard Berzerkers, Vulkyn Flameseekers, Auric Flamekeepers, Grimhold Exiles, foot and Magmadroth-mounted Auric Runefather, Auric Runeson and Auric Runesmiter variants, plus Ormyr and Ashtongue. The article is an announcement, not a substitute for the final battletome, warscrolls or an event pack. Read the update at Warhammer Community’s Battletome: Khazalite Holds briefing, then check the published book and your local tournament’s rules.
| Unit or item | In the Saga Axeband Spearhead? | October 2026 announcement | Buying implication |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vulkite Berzerkers | Yes: four units of five | Moving to Warhammer Legends | Useful for existing collections, but do not assume long-term matched-play legality. |
| Battlesmith | Yes | Moving to Warhammer Legends | Already owned; verify the transition period before building lists around it. |
| Hearthguard Berzerkers | Yes: five models | Included on the announced roster | The most conservative expansion direction named by the available evidence. |
| Auric Hearthguard | No | Included on the announced roster | A different infantry option; current rules and kit details still need checking. |
| Vulkyn Flameseekers | No | Included on the announced roster | Broadens the army beyond the Spearhead’s existing units. |
| Magmadroth-mounted characters | No | Three mounted character families are listed | A centerpiece route; identify the exact current kit before ordering. |
What the Spearhead already gives you
The official Saga Axeband faction pack lists one Battlesmith, five Hearthguard Berzerkers and four units of five Vulkite Berzerkers. In practical collection terms, that is a substantial infantry foundation: 20 Vulkites, five Hearthguard and a support character. The 2024 faction focus describes the same composition, but that page is edition-specific background and context rather than a replacement for current rules. You can verify the original roster in the official Saga Axeband faction pack and read the earlier Fyreslayers faction focus.

Because most of your first box is already Vulkite infantry, buying another large block of the same type risks increasing overlap just as those models approach Legends status. Your second purchase should therefore answer one question first: are you building an elite infantry army, adding a different infantry profile, or creating a centerpiece collection around a Magmadroth?
The safest expansion: more Hearthguard Berzerkers
Why they fit the current evidence
Hearthguard Berzerkers are the clearest named recommendation because you already own five and the October 2026 roster announcement retains them. A second unit follows the elite direction described for the new battletome without depending on a unit that has been announced for Legends. It also gives your collection a coherent visual and thematic core rather than adding another support model to a Spearhead dominated by infantry.
This is a roster-status recommendation, not a promise of tournament power. The available sources do not establish points, warscroll rules, unit sizes, kit contents, competitive win rates or a preferred number of units. Before buying, confirm how many models the current kit builds, whether the battletome’s unit-size rules have changed and whether the models are currently sold in your region. The product phrase most likely to identify the physical unit is Warhammer Age of Sigmar Hearthguard Berzerkers; no current price, stock level or live marketplace listing has been verified.

Who should choose this route
- Collectors who want to follow the announced elite Fyreslayer direction.
- Players who prefer a unified infantry appearance and do not need another character immediately.
- Anyone buying cautiously during the rules transition and prioritising a unit explicitly retained on the announced roster.
A different infantry direction: Auric Hearthguard
Auric Hearthguard are also listed in the announced Khazalite Holds roster. They are a sensible alternative when you want your army to look and feel less like a second copy of the Spearhead’s existing mix. The announcement confirms their roster status, but the material available here does not verify their current warscroll, battlefield role, points, model count or kit availability.
Treat Auric Hearthguard as a diversification choice rather than a guaranteed upgrade. Check the official range listing and the final battletome before purchasing, especially if you are trying to assemble a legal army immediately after the edition change. If a retailer’s description conflicts with the current book, use the book and the event pack as the authority for unit size and legality.
Another new unit: Vulkyn Flameseekers
Vulkyn Flameseekers appear on the announced roster and offer another way to move beyond the Spearhead’s four Vulkite units and five Hearthguard. They may appeal to hobbyists who want a visibly different unit while remaining within the Fyreslayers range. The available announcement does not establish their battlefield role, performance, points, kit contents or availability, so avoid buying them on the assumption that they fill a particular tactical gap.

- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)

Choose Flameseekers when collection variety matters more to you than duplicating Hearthguard. Confirm the final unit profile and the number of models in the box first; those details determine whether one purchase gives you a complete unit or requires additional boxes.

Make a Magmadroth your centerpiece
The announced roster includes foot and Magmadroth-mounted versions of the Auric Runefather, Auric Runeson and Auric Runesmiter. A mounted character is the most substantial change from the Spearhead’s all-infantry starting point and can become the visual focus of a growing army. It is also the option most affected by kit choice, model scale, assembly time and eventual rules changes.
Do not order a named model until you have checked the current official range and the exact kit listing. The October announcement names mounted variants but does not identify which current product builds each one, what alternate parts are included or whether every option will remain continuously available. A Magmadroth is best treated as a hobby and collection decision first; the sources do not support a claim that one mounted character is competitively superior.

How to choose between the four paths
- Check the rules horizon. If you need a force for a specific event, read that event’s pack and confirm whether it uses the current book, the announced transition period or Legends restrictions.
- Decide whether to consolidate or diversify. Another Hearthguard unit consolidates the elite infantry core. Auric Hearthguard and Vulkyn Flameseekers add a different infantry option. A Magmadroth creates a centerpiece collection.
- Compare overlap with what you own. You already have 20 Vulkites, five Hearthguard and a Battlesmith. Avoid paying for a second support model or more Vulkites solely because they are familiar if your goal is a future-proof expansion.
- Verify the physical product. Check the current official listing for the model name, unit size, assembly options and regional availability. Do not rely on an old marketplace photograph or a pre-transition product description.
- Buy one complete unit first. Assemble and play the new unit before committing to a second box. This limits the risk of discovering that the new battletome, event packet or kit contents do not match your plan.
Sample expansion plans
| Collection goal | First purchase | Follow-up decision | Main uncertainty to resolve |
|---|---|---|---|
| Elite infantry core | Hearthguard Berzerkers | Add another retained infantry unit only after checking unit sizes. | Final battletome rules and kit contents. |
| Infantry variety | Auric Hearthguard | Consider Vulkyn Flameseekers if you want a second distinct infantry type. | Warscroll role, points and availability are not established here. |
| New visual identity | Vulkyn Flameseekers | Use Hearthguard as the stable elite anchor rather than adding more Vulkites. | Final unit size and current product listing. |
| Centerpiece army | An appropriate Magmadroth-mounted character kit | Fill the remaining points and model count with retained roster units. | Exact kit variant, final rules and local event legality. |
What to do with the units you already own
Do not discard or strip your Vulkites and Battlesmith simply because the announcement moves them toward Legends. The update says they remain usable in competitive events for one year after the new battletome releases, and they remain relevant for narrative, open or house games when the organiser allows them. The important distinction is that the legacy Saga Axeband roster is not interchangeable with the announced Khazalite Holds roster. A list built from the old Spearhead may not satisfy a new matched-play event’s requirements.
Keep the models, record their bases and unit sizes, and preserve their assembly options. Then ask the organiser whether Legends units are permitted, whether the one-year transition is recognised and which battletome version the event uses. Never infer legality from another event’s policy.

The 2024 faction pack and faction focus establish the original Spearhead composition. The October 2026 Warhammer Community update establishes the announced roster direction and the stated Legends transition. They do not provide current prices, retailer stock, Amazon availability, finalized new-kit contents, points values or competitive list performance. April 2023 pitched-battle profiles are historical and should not be used as current points.

- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
That limitation matters when budgeting. A larger box is not automatically better value, and a model that appears on an announcement page may not yet be orderable in your region. Price and availability can change by country and by release date, so check the live official listing when you are ready to buy rather than relying on an old article or cached product page.
The army’s intended character
The 2024 Faction Focus attributes this description to “John” in its “The Word from the Studio” section: “The key playstyle of the Fyreslayers has been preserved in the new edition – doughty duardin who hurl themselves across the battlefield, blazing with power and drinking deep of their god’s divinity at the right moment to carry them to a confident victory.” The page does not provide John’s surname or role. That statement is useful as a thematic guide, not as evidence for a particular unit’s competitive performance.
For most collectors, the practical order is straightforward: add Hearthguard Berzerkers if you want the most defensible retained-roster expansion; choose Auric Hearthguard or Vulkyn Flameseekers if variety is the priority; or wait and verify the exact Magmadroth kit if a centerpiece is the real goal. In every case, make the purchase against the final battletome and your event’s written policy, not against the legacy Spearhead alone.
